Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 340: Chapter 336: Lei Shi Fears Heitan

Gu Xu eventually returned to the Imperial Capital alone, as he had no choice but to deal with urgent matters at Shengtang.

He glanced at Yan Feng uneasily, then reluctantly passed through the security gate, looking back every three steps he took.

The news of Yan Feng being hired as the chief master sculptor for ”Jade Beauty” had already spread far and wide, even before Huo Sining and his group had returned to S City.

Bai Yishan was caught off guard, as she had not intended to publicize this news so soon. At the very least, she wanted to wait until Yan Feng had settled in S City and had given his consent.

Given Yan Feng’s character, he definitely wouldn’t want anyone making decisions on his behalf without his permission.

Moreover, now that the news had leaked, those jewelry merchants who had wanted to hire Yan Feng from early on would certainly try their best to poach him.

Bai Yishan felt somewhat panicked, as Yan Feng had stated from the beginning that he wouldn’t sign a labor contract. Their relationship was not actually one of employer and employee at the moment, and if this leaked information angered him and he decided to walk out in a huff, then the losses would outweigh the gains.

Sitting in the airport waiting area, Bai Yishan scrolled through her tablet, her face filled with nervousness, fidgeting restlessly.

Seeing Bai Yishan’s hesitation to speak, Huo Sining couldn’t help but ask, ”What’s the matter?”

Bai Yishan glanced at Yan Feng, who was reading a book on the other side, and awkwardly handed the tablet to Huo Sining. When Huo Sining swiped the screen, she saw it stopped on a Jadeite forum page with a prominently pinned red post.

--Master Sculptor Hired by Jade Beauty, Yan Feng’s Powerful Return After a Decade of Seclusion.

Upon seeing this post, Huo Sining’s eyes widened instantly, and she subconsciously looked at Bai Yishan, the implication clear: she was asking who had posted it.

”It wasn’t me,” Bai Yishan said, waving her hands in denial in response to Huo Sining’s suspicion, stating that although she would like to use Yan Feng’s fame for publicity, she wouldn’t be so reckless and impatient.

But this post was clearly a publicity stunt for Jade Beauty; Yan Feng’s reputation and aura of mystery were enough to make Jade Beauty the center of attention.

Only a few of them knew about Yan Feng’s return from seclusion; if Bai Yishan didn’t post it, then who did?

Yan Feng looked over in their direction, and the glaring post in Huo Sining’s hand was naturally caught by his eye.

Bai Yishan’s heart instantly tightened, and she stammered out, ”Mr. Yan... I’m sorry... I’ll have someone deal with this post as quickly as possible...”

She knew the moderator of the Jadeite forum and completely had the ability to delete the post, but she couldn’t get through to the person on the phone, so Bai Yishan could only let the post remain pinned for now and wait until they returned to S City to contact them.

Seeing Bai Yishan in such a fluster, Yan Feng said expressionlessly, ”I am the one who posted it.”

Huo Sining: ...

Bai Yishan sat frozen in her seat, her eyes wide as she incredulously stared at Yan Feng, taking a long time to recover before mumbling incoherently.

”Though the tree may crave calm, the wind will not subside. Since you want me to take a seat in your shop, you should have been well-prepared psychologically. Your small studio is not taken seriously by others, and there will undoubtedly be endless troubles in the future. I need not elaborate on the reasons.”

”The only way is to expand the studio as quickly as possible, and truly penetrate the domestic and international market with Jade Beauty. Once those people have something to fear, they won’t dare to mess with you.”

Yan Feng’s hand caressed Lei Shi’s furry head, his voice as pleasant as ever. However, Huo Sining detected a strong undertone of scheming in his seemingly careless tone:

”It just so happens that I also want to settle some personal grudges from years past. Now that I’ve made my comeback, those people surely can’t sit still. Having been idle for so many years, I’ve grown lazy. This is the perfect opportunity to play with them and loosen up my muscles.”

Hearing this, Huo Sining suddenly realized that this revered Buddha had only agreed to emerge from seclusion to become Jade Beauty’s lead master sculptor for the real purpose of settling those personal grudges!

Filled with curiosity, Huo Sining thought about what Su Qingqing had said. This Master Yan should have never left Hetian, so with whom could he possibly have any grudges?

The group flew back to S City, and as soon as they disembarked from the plane, Wu Jun and Su Jinyuan were already waiting at the arrival gate.

Before he took over Su Group’s Donghua, Su Jinyuan had personally gone to Hetian to invite Yan Feng, but Yan Feng was off collecting herbs in the Kunlun Mountains with an indefinite return. Su Jinyuan had not even met the man and had returned to S City in disappointment.

Now, seeing the legendary Yan Feng actually return with Huo Sining, as Su Qingqing had said, he was both surprised and puzzled. He really wanted to ask Huo Sining right there and then what the correct answer was to that legendary question that had stumped countless heroes and brave men.

However, in front of so many people, even though he was curious, he didn’t let his eagerness show on the surface. Seeing that Huo Sining had survived a near-death experience without a scratch, he finally felt at ease.

Yan Feng was rather picky about where he stayed, so Huo Sining had no choice but to settle him into a villa in the school district for the time being.

S University itself was on the edge of the city center, not far from the suburbs, and the school district villa backed onto S City’s wildlife park, with the house conveniently built against the only mountain in S City.

Even though the villa faced the front gate of S University and wasn’t as spacious, nor did it possess the classic charm of Yan Feng’s old home in Hetian, compared to other houses in the city center, the quiet environment here still won his favor.

However, what surprised Huo Sining was that, after bringing Yan Feng to the villa in the school district, Lei Shi, who had been aloof and imposing all the way, suddenly stood up. The mane on the back of his head bristled, his paws digging tightly into the ground, as he barked fiercely at the yard.

”Eh?”

Yan Feng’s expression changed, and his gaze shifted to the gate, landing on the smaller Tibetan Mastiff that was less than half Lei Shi’s size.

”Lei Shi, quiet down, stop barking!”

With a stern command from Yan Feng, Lei Shi immediately ceased his barking, but his gaze remained fixed on Heitan as if the latter were some dangerous character.

”Mr. Yan, what’s going on here... Could it be that Lei Shi is actually afraid of my Heitan?”

Huo Sining stood by the door, baffled by Lei Shi’s seemingly defensive and even somewhat flighty demeanor. She glanced at Heitan, puzzled about what was going on.

Mr. Huang, who was inside the house, also came out when he heard the commotion. He noticed something off at the door and involuntarily halted his steps.

Heitan, on the other hand, lifted his head to look at Huo Sining and let out a whining noise, appearing quite innocent. It glanced at Lei Shi with confusion, then looked at Yan Feng and the others with curiosity and took a step forward.

That single step caused Lei Shi to react as though he had been pricked by a needle. He leaped backward like lightning and then took two or three more steps back, barking wildly at Heitan, even baring his sharp teeth.
