My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2247: Chapter 2080: Misty Rain

The vast mountains and rivers have all been traversed, and separations and reunions are no longer forced.

”Zhentian, are you really that foolish? You were never like this before. Even though I always liked to think of you as naive and said you were too innocent, acting without much deliberation.

But why, when you did this today, did you not consider the final outcome in your heart? You never cared about what your father would think. You only had eyes for me. But is a wife really that important in your eyes? Your father is the one who gave birth to and raised you. It’s hard to imagine how difficult it was for him to bring you up, but after all, I am just a pawn you brought into the family. If a wife is lost, you can find another, but if your father is gone, he’s lost forever. Why don’t you think about your family’s feelings?

Although you care so much about me, I’m really touched deep inside, and I’m very happy to receive such profound love from you. But sometimes, love isn’t like this. Your love is too selfish, too self-centered. It’s not a love we can bear. What we want from life is really so little, and our desired happiness is so simple. But why does the ending always lead to both of us being unbearably pained? Is that the ending you want?

You should understand that what everyone wants is just a simple life. We’ve been through so many ups and downs together over the years; you know this better than anyone. You also know how I got through all these years, and you know how I feel about you. Deep down inside, you certainly understand more than anyone else. So why do you keep pretending to be innocent? Do you think doing so will earn everyone’s understanding? Do you find it amusing?

Time and again, I take the blame for everything while you step out to take on everything for me, making the world think I’m not a good person!

Sometimes, you should reverse your thinking and consider things from someone else’s perspective. Only through empathy will you understand what kind of perception your actions give others, how they feel when they learn of such outcomes. Never only think from your own point of view, because that angle is too careless, and you can’t make the decisions others want to make for them. Sometimes, your thoughts are simply a misunderstanding of others, but those others don’t think that way at all. Misunderstandings between us grow bigger, don’t they?

I feel that the person you should apologize to the most right now is not me, but your father. If you truly die here today, you will lose your father and your son. To put it bluntly, you’d be abandoning them once again. This time, it is a complete, permanent abandonment. In their hearts, they would never forgive you, a heartless father, a heartless son, because what you did is nothing worth forgiving. Why do you keep treating them this way, just for me?

I’ve said before that I no longer harbor grudges about everything in the past. By marrying you, I’ve proven that I won’t pursue past wrongs anymore. You don’t need to keep holding onto the past time and again. It has no benefit and will only make our feelings toward each other worse and worse, more and more troublesome. All I want is to stay here peacefully, by the side of our child, and I ask you to give me this one chance. Don’t keep making things difficult for me and opposing me at every turn.”

Zhang Zhentian hung his head under his wife’s words because only then did he realize that nothing he did was right. His wife was always so reasonable, and he questioned what he was doing with his actions. Once again, he almost caused his father to lose him entirely. He cared so much about life and death, yet why did he act so thoughtlessly, viewing everything so simply and not caring about their feelings?

He blamed his own autocracy and obstinacy for everything, never considering whether others could bear such blows. His decisions were just heat-of-the-moment choices, leading to regret when it was too late. Nobody waits forever for you to acknowledge your mistakes. Even if you do admit fault, others may not forgive you.

”Xia Jing, I’m sorry, I understand now. I realized that nothing I did before was right. What I want now is nothing more than a stable life. I will never again recklessly risk my life because life... you only have one life. No matter what, you can’t joke about your life, because if you do, your family will suffer greatly. Especially Dad, who worked so hard to give birth to and raise me. As you said, should white-haired people send off black-haired people?

If so, how painful that must be. I am his son, but if I can only leave him in such a way, how could his heart ever understand? How could he be happy? All my father wants is for his son to live stably, accompany him, talk with him at any time, feel happy to see him at home. That sense of happiness and comfort from my presence is immeasurable, but if I truly left this world, what would my father have to say? Unable to even see my face, wouldn’t he be even more heartbroken?”

”I’m glad you understand. If you continued as before, I truly wouldn’t know how to speak to you.

Your thinking is indeed slower than everyone else’s. Everyone realizes their mistakes right away, but you didn’t even have time to react and already believed there was nothing wrong. But the truth? In reality, every single thing you’ve done was wrong. You’ve never considered how others felt at the time. Even now, you haven’t quickly gone to your father to sincerely admit fault. Do you expect him to keep worrying about you?

Parents, no matter when or where, will always care about their children’s lives and well-being. Even if their child makes mistakes, all a parent cares about is how their child lives.”

Sometimes, I’m very conflicted on this long road of life, becoming increasingly confused about whether the path I walk is right for me!
