My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2205: Chapter 2038: Doing My Best

Life doesn’t always give you what you want, but it does give you what you can’t change!

”Since you’ve brought things to this point today, let me tell you what I think. Do you know why your son doesn’t want to forgive you? Do you know why your own father wants to keep you at arm’s length because of me, time and again? Do you know why your wife wants to leave you and never be with you again?” Ran Zhihan was almost furious to death. As he spoke, he was already excising all politeness; he didn’t want to consider anything else, he just wanted to express his true thoughts, because only this would bring him relief. Why should he hurt his genuine feelings for those who didn’t care about him? Shouldn’t he also live for himself, just once?

”Why?”

”Because the things you’ve done forced them to punish you, so they chose to no longer forgive you again and again. Because the mistakes you make are never-ending, they chose never to meet you again this lifetime. Because you repeatedly hurt the dearest me to them, they chose to keep you at a distance time and again. Because you repeatedly chose to abandon Grandpa, so Grandpa doesn’t want any contact with you this lifetime. Do you need to hear more?”

Zhang Zhentian slapped Ran Zhihan: ”You think you’re any better yourself? You think I don’t know the things you said? So this is how you are in front of me, yet with your husband and grandpa, you present a different face. You are a woman who says one thing and means another. How dare you think you’re worthy of being with my son! Who doesn’t know the things you do? Why pretend to be noble here? You’re just a commoner’s daughter, though my wife is also one, yet she lives vibrantly and wonderfully. She can do what she wants, but you? To achieve your goals, you resort to all means, feigning pity step by step before others. So this is your way, huh? What’s the difference with a whore?”

”Dad, I still consider you my elder and call you Dad. Can you not insult me when you speak? No matter what, I am an innocent young lady. Often, you know it’s not me sowing discord and lies, it’s the things you and mom did that my husband and Grandpa simply can’t accept, so they shut you out. How can you push all the blame onto me? Was I born to bear the consequences of your mistakes? I am not that person, and I hope you can respect me. Not respecting me is the same as not respecting Mom, as I am a woman too, and Mom is a woman. What place do you put your wife in saying these things? And later, your son? Do you ever think before speaking or acting? Do you think speaking this way makes Grandpa feel better? Do you think your wife and son still recognize you after you say such things? You are so selfish. If today you hadn’t spoken to me this way, perhaps I would have silently helped you, but now you insult me, my husband, Grandpa, and Mom, so I’ll never help you again. Do you want me to accompany your cycle of needs time and again? Help you next time too? I’m not a Saint—I can’t keep treating others well after they treat me this way.”

”You never intended to help me from the start, so why bother saying these phony words now? Do you find saying these things interesting? It only makes me look down on you. Do you understand what you’re saying and doing? Surely you don’t forget just moments ago, when you said and did something completely different? And now you say such things to me, do you think that’s good? Isn’t telling lies time and again tiring?”

”Aren’t you the one telling lies time and again? You hurt everyone who loves you, everything you do is unacceptable to others, yet you never repent! Doing something wrong and thinking it’ll never be discovered is impossible. Once done, everyone will know it was you, no matter what. ’If you don’t want others to know, unless you don’t do it,’ so why think of hiding it when caught—it doesn’t end well. No one forgives you just because you hide the truth at the time; they only see you as a man unable to bear the consequences of his mistakes, looking down on you. Dad, I just want to tell you this much now. I still hope you’ll consider these things from our perspective. Do you think our hearts aren’t pained by what you say? We do, after all, see you as one of our most important people. But do you also consider us as such when you do this? You know how much we want to live with you, right? Yet you treat us this way, leaving us no way to continue living. Originally, I intended to plead with Grandpa to let you return home, and also ask you to plead with Mom to keep living with you, but now I see it’s unnecessary, as it’ll only make me seem more hypocritical.”

Although Ran Zhihan had long known his father-in-law disapproved of him and his son being together, he didn’t expect today to come to this, old words from years before enacted again. He never thought his dad would speak so distastefully to him; how can he face others in the future? Why treat him this way? Isn’t it better to live happily with him? Must they tear him and his husband apart before their hearts are content? What did he do wrong to suffer such torment?

”Because of what you said, you turned everything into a definition. Since it’s defined, why continue this conversation? From now on, let’s not contact each other. Remember today, you’re the one who said these things to me. I’m your daughter-in-law, yet you can speak like this. I have no more to say. Don’t come to me for help ever again...”

A miracle is just another name for effort; only oneself can ultimately change everything!
