My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2203: Chapter 2036: Fallen Flowers and Flowing Water

When I shed all my defenses, I still couldn’t see clearly who I really am!

A week has passed in the blink of an eye, and Zhang Yichen shows no signs of waking up. Xia Tian and Zhang Zhentian are anxious; they fear their son might sleep forever and never wake again. How they wish the things they did in the past were false. If they had done less to harm their son, would this situation be different now?

Would their son not be lying here now? If they had agreed to let the two be together from the start, would Ran Zhihan not have left their son? Is all of this really their fault?

Xia Jing herself can’t understand now what caused all of this. In her eyes, she has always wanted her son to be happy and joyful, never intending for her precious son to be hurt in any way.

Every time Zhang Zhentian sees his son lying on the hospital bed, his face pale without a trace of blood, his heart feels as if it’s being twisted with knives. Yet, what can he do? All the results now are the outcome he and his beloved wife created step by step. Who can they blame? If he had been more accepting of his son from the beginning, would the results be different? Seeing his son lying there unable to move, he wishes he could take on this pain for his beloved son. He knows how important his son’s self-esteem is, but now he’s unable to move, where can his self-esteem come from?

Old Master Zhang feels the same way. Seeing Zhang Yichen lying on the hospital bed like a living corpse, his heart feels heavy. This is the grandson he painstakingly raised, whom he’s loved for so many years, never willing to hurt him even slightly, never willing to scold or hit him. How could he let him become like this today? Yet, he has become this way, all due to his son and daughter-in-law.

”Now, are you two satisfied? Your own son lies on the hospital bed because of you two. You must think his lying here is related to his beloved woman and is unavoidable. Because you heard the doctor say his condition resulted from extreme mental stress, but you never considered whether his current state also has anything to do with you as parents. If not for your unresolved divorce and defiance of advice, how could he have carried such immense psychological pressure? If not for the issue with his beloved, how could he have driven emotionally to the United States for business? If not, how could he have had such an accident that left him unable to stand up again? None of you ever think about your part in this, always blaming others. Do you lack the courage to accept the consequences of your actions? Since returning to the country, you continuously hurt him, and now he’s beyond waking up. You should be satisfied, you can happily leave and return where you belong. From today onward, I hope you remember clearly that your son’s condition is also connected to you two, don’t push all blame onto others. No one is born to bear the blame for your faults; they are not scapegoats for your mistakes. You must learn to take responsibility for your mistakes, if you can’t, then all your years are wasted...”

Upon hearing Old Master Zhang’s words, Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian had to internally question themselves: Are all these things really unrelated to them? Is his beloved woman the sole reason their son became like this? If it has nothing to do with them, why does their son lie here, unwilling to wake up? What kind of blow has his heart taken? If they are related, how should they face their son, knowing all these things happened because of them? If that’s true, how can they forgive themselves, and how can they continue living, seeing how their son has ended up?

Ran Zhihan did not expect that at this point, Old Master Zhang would still speak for her. Everything in this situation is also inextricable from her. She should stay and take care of the man she loves, and maybe the call of her love will awaken him.

”Grandpa, all of this isn’t related to uncle and aunt; it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t shocked him, he might not have driven emotionally, wouldn’t have gone off the cliff. Grandpa, I won’t leave and will stay to care for him until he wakes up. I’m waiting for him to stand on his own one day, to let him know that he has always been in my heart; I simply haven’t known how to express my love for him!”

”For now, it’s the best we can do. Maybe from hearing every word you say, he can wake up. Maybe your words are the most effective for him, maybe he will take your words as every promise. Child, Grandpa hopes you can take good care of him, help him wake up. He is Zhang Family’s only hope. You are the child I’ve painstakingly raised. I can’t bear letting him lie on the bed for a lifetime. I believe you can’t bear watching Grandpa live lonely; Grandpa is old and can’t take such a blow...”

”Rest assured, I will wholeheartedly care for him. I want to make him well again. I want him to live and stand before everyone, to apologize for his mishap that worried us all...”

Old Master Zhang nodded heavily and left the ward. Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian left together to seek the best doctors abroad, to heal their son. They can’t let him remain bedridden forever under their intervention, never able to wake and see the world again.

Ran Zhihan watched as the elders left the ward. She turned and crouched in front of the bed, using her long, slender fingers to gently brush the face of the man she loved. Inch by inch, she felt his skin had lost all warmth; he seemed like a living dead!

I don’t want to hide much; only you can comfort me!
