My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2244: Chapter 2077: The Past

In this life, there will always be a person who leaves a mark on your heart, and in this life, there will always be a person who plants a kiss in your dreams.

”Nai’er, come quickly to your great-grandfather. He has something to tell you. Don’t you want to know where your grandparents are? If you want to know where they are, then come quickly to find me!”

Upon hearing she could find out where her grandparents were, Zhang Ni ran over to her great-grandfather without hesitation. When she reached his arms, Old Master Zhang said to her, ”My Nai’er is the best. Listen to your great-grandfather tell you slowly, okay? Let me tell you a story too. Before, your great-grandfather didn’t agree with his son and daughter-in-law being together. But this boy and girl were determined to be together; they went through a lot for each other. In the end, this man couldn’t resist his son’s desire to be with this girl, and he finally allowed them to be together. Once this boy and girl got married, they eventually had a child of their own. But as soon as this child was born, the mother left alone to go abroad, you know? At that time, the little boy was very upset even though he was only a month old. But as their son grew, to prove to his parents he wasn’t useless, and even without them, he could be the most talented person in the world. But no one expected that this boy would succeed in the end. He became a genius of unparalleled status, his looks and intelligence unmatched by anything. But on this very day, his parents returned!”

Zhang Ni didn’t understand what this meant, so he said to Old Master Zhang, ”Great-grandfather, I don’t quite understand. Since his parents came back, why isn’t the little boy happy? Didn’t he always hope his parents would be by his side? If my parents weren’t with me, I would surely cry every day, unwilling to be without them. If my parents ever didn’t want me, I would be heartbroken...”

Hearing this little rascal speak these words, Old Master Zhang felt a bit helplessly amused. This is the gap, isn’t it? But why do all these gaps fall within his family?

”Nai’er, you might think that since they returned to the little boy’s side, he should be happy, but did you know that their return made the boy’s pain even deeper? She doesn’t know how to face her parents, and it’s not that she didn’t want to see them, but her parents keep appearing around the little boy, disrupting his happiness. In the end, this little boy, not discouraged, struggles to be with the woman he loves, and only then do they have their child. Their life, which once was calm and stable, now faces adversity, unexpected and unprepared. Just like that, although their parents seemed fine days ago, now they suddenly divorced, and because of this separation, they couldn’t stay home anymore...”

”Great-grandfather, are you talking about my grandparents? Did they get divorced, is that why they can’t be with me? But I really hope they can be here with me. It seems the thing I want most in this life is for my grandparents to be by my side, and my parents, and my great-grandfather, too, of course. What I love most is how my great-grandfather holds me every day. But it seems time always moves too fast. Every day, before I can finish what I most want to do, the day turns into night, and when I wake up, the day has already brightened. I always feel like I don’t have enough time, I wish I could make time stop, so that my grandfather, my parents can be with me. But why does time have to keep running, great-grandfather? Can you tell me, why can’t time just stand still?”

”Silly child, time will never stop, and it won’t stay for anyone. You must understand; time flies, and once it’s gone, it never returns. You must always cherish time, to live a colorful, fulfilling life, and not waste it. There’s no time that will wait for you to squander it away. Since today’s time has been wasted, you should learn to finish today’s tasks. I hope you understand, never leave today’s work for tomorrow, because tomorrow has its own tasks. If you don’t complete today’s tasks today, you’ll carry them into tomorrow, and tomorrow’s tasks will remain incomplete, carrying into the day after, leading to an endless cycle. In the end, you’ll find out that you haven’t done what you wanted in this life. You haven’t played joyfully and freely!”

”Great-grandfather, I understand now. No matter what, I will cherish time. I will take time as my effort and never let it dominate me. I will tread on time and let it move according to my steps, instead of me surviving by following time...”

When Old Master Zhang heard every word from Zhang Ni, he felt this child unusually insightful, opening his eyes wide. Even though he knew this child always wished her grandparents would return to accompany her, he would not yield. He couldn’t let them return to this home since they decided to leave; now they have no right to come back. If you’ve made the decision to leave, don’t think of the day to return. Time will not stand still, waiting. They were given the chance back then; they didn’t cherish it. So, why should I worry about finding a way to bring them back home now? It’s just idle talk.

The innocence of love can never be reached, perhaps it ends just like that.
