My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2225: Chapter 2058: Yearning, Never to Part

Never easily say you’ll stay together, don’t speak of things you cannot achieve!

Li Jiayuan had long become good friends with Xia Jing. Now that she heard her good friend was in a car accident, no matter what, she couldn’t just calmly wait here for good news. Especially since so much time had passed without any good news. She was truly afraid of losing such a good friend just like that.

Lei Kai saw no matter what he said, he couldn’t persuade his mother to stay. He knew that deep down, his mother was genuinely anxious now.

How could those people not be anxious too? No matter the grievances between the adults, as juniors, Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian were truly very kind to him.

”Kai, you’re my own son. How could you only stand by your father’s side, ignoring your mother’s feelings? I’m your mother. Bearing you was no easy task. Haven’t you ever thought about that?

Even though you’ve rarely been home all these years, busy with your career outside, as a mother, I’ve been constantly watching over your every move. I can’t understand what kind of mindset makes you think none of this concerns you. You’ve never considered things from my perspective as your mother.

The car accident of Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian might be significant in your father’s eyes, but isn’t it important in mine as a mother too? I truly treated her as a good sister. Now that this happened to her, how could I stand by and do nothing, not even bring over a word of comfort?

If it’s like this, and she wakes up later to know that during her sickness, I was never present or even asked after her, how can I face this? How can I maintain a good sisterhood with her?”

Every word Li Jiayuan spoke made her son feel a bit more embarrassed standing there. He didn’t know how to persuade his mother. Since the situation was set, why not let his mother return to China to see her? Maybe only then could his mother truly feel at ease deep down.

”Mom, no matter where and when, you’ll always be my mother in my heart. No matter what happens, this is an unchangeable fact. Since you really want to go back to China to see her, then I’ll let you go back. Initially, we just didn’t want you to be too exhausted from the back and forth trips, wearying you with flights every day. But unexpectedly, this led to misunderstandings. Instead of this, we think it might be better to let you go back and care for them properly!

I don’t know if I should take my younger brother and them along.”

Even though Lei Kai had been hustling outside all these years, busy with his career, trying to carve out a territory of his own—not to become the world’s richest, but at least not far behind Zhang Yichen.

He always wanted to return to China, but never had the opportunity. Now that this chance finally came, how could he let it slip so easily? He thought it was time to return to China to take a look. How could he always settle in the United States and never set foot in any other territory?

Li Jiayuan thought letting her son accompany her back was also a good decision. At least on the road, if anything happened, there would be someone to help her. Since she was a bit older, such travels were indeed unsafe. Having her son by her side could also reassure others more.

”Kai, since you’ve said this, what else can I, as your mother, say? Having you accompany me back is a delightful thing for me. I’m eager for such a result too. I haven’t returned for all these years. I also want to take you back to see where your mother once lived well.”

So Li Jiayuan took her son back to China.

When Xiao Wei heard that Li Jiayuan had returned to China, it was already the second day.

He didn’t expect that it would be so hard to conceal this matter quickly. It had only been a week since he returned, yet his wife followed in his footsteps to come back too. Perhaps he really hadn’t thought this through. How could such an important matter be expected to be concealed forever? When it’s time to know the truth, they must be allowed to know. Coming back now is not a mistake; at least they can see everything firsthand here. Only then can their hearts be truly at ease. If they remained in the United States just waiting for news, it would only be an anxious wait—a torture.

”Yichen, your aunt and cousin have arrived. I need to go to the airport to pick them up. If anything urgent happens here, contact me immediately, I’ll come right back.”

Zhang Yichen was truly grateful for his uncle waiting for so long here. For the past week, my uncle hadn’t left the hospital for a moment, always waiting for his parents to wake up. But he was still disappointed. Now, his aunt also travelled back a long way from the United States. Maybe it was really to come back to care for his parents. How could he possibly stop them?

”Uncle, just go pick up aunt and cousin peacefully. I’ll keep watch here carefully. If there’s any sign, I’ll surely notify you immediately. Make sure to be safe on your way to the airport, be cautious on the road.”

”Okay, then I’m leaving!”

After Xiao Wei left, Zhang Yichen looked at his parents still lying in the intensive care unit and couldn’t help but murmur to himself.

”Mom and Dad, why has it been so many days, and you still show no sign of waking up? Do you know how many people have been worrying about you? Do you know uncle came all the way over here? He waited for you for a whole week, and yet, you still show no sign of waking up. Now aunt and cousin are also back. They came back hoping you’d give them a surprise, hoping they’d find you safe and sound, alright? Please don’t keep sleeping like this; it’s not good for your health to sleep for so long...”

Zhang Yichen said so much, but his parents couldn’t hear a word, as they were now deep in their dreams, unaware of the present, not knowing how many people worried about them in reality. They went back to the happiest days of their past, forgetting that so many people were still longing for them to wake up.

The return time no longer belongs to the young, if companionship is promised, it holds no emotions, yet the thoughts linger for long!
