My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2238: Chapter 2071: Peace and Contentment

Sometimes persistence may not be a bad thing, as you do certain things, you forget about them, and your heart turns cold.

Hearing what her husband said, Ran Zhihan felt a heartache as if being twisted by a knife. The pain almost suffocated her, yet she forced her tears back because she knew she couldn’t let them fall as freely as before. That would only make the man in front of her despise her. How could she be so weak, seen by others again, and she would never be able to lift her head again, unable to take that firm step, always looked down upon by her own husband as insignificant.

Ran Zhihan thought about it for a whole night and finally felt that she should come to understand her husband, who has always believed she stayed with him for money and benefits. Such grievances, why should she continue to endure them? The words have already been spoken; why not become the person he spoke of, why foolishly stay here for him all her life, only to see no result?

She left a letter for her husband, preparing to leave the house. She couldn’t continue living there as every person in the house made her feel guilty, unable to face her own heart. She knew what she’d done wasn’t a grave mistake, but in the end, it still harmed many people.

”My dearest husband, I know this matter makes your heart suffer, but I also hope you know that I never placed it deep in my heart.

No matter what kind of feelings Chen Gang has for me, I will always view him only as a classmate and friend. I can never cross other feelings and be with him. I hope you can trust me!

Maybe for you now, nothing is as trustworthy as before, but I hope you know that my heart’s love for you has never changed. I’ve always hoped that as long as I could be with you, regardless of the enormous grievances I suffered, I would be willing. But now I realize that since there is no longer trust between us, it’s better to live apart for a while!”

You always say I am with you for your money. I really want to harden my heart and tell you that I am with you for money, that I am a gold-digger, but I can’t do that because I can’t go against my heart. You used my parents to threaten me, and I already knew, actually, your heart had already hardened to make a decision, so why tell me your decision in such a way to embarrass me?

Rest assured, I will tell my parents to return home soon. I will repay all the expenses of my parents living abroad over the years. I won’t touch a cent of your assets because this makes me feel very uncomfortable. My beloved husband actually said such things to me. What do these years of waiting count for? What does my hard-fought dedication over these years count for? My parents thought so much of us being loving and hoped so much that we could always be loving, but are we worthy of my parents doing this?

As for the child, please take good care of her. He, like you when you were young, always lacked a sense of security and tried hard to prove that he is not the most useless. I hope you can compensate well and treat him as your most cherished son. Don’t let him undergo that devil-like training again. He is my own son, I cannot watch him train so hard and as a mother stand by idly!

As for Grandpa, I hope you can persuade her not to think too much. People must learn to grow up, perhaps always living so cowardly.

I also hope you can convey to Grandpa that I have ultimately let down her care and concern for me over the years. She has paid too much for us, and I hope you can let Grandpa take good care of himself. I will come back to see her one day. I have left. Please do not use your connections to find me. If we are fated, we will meet again, if not, we won’t!”

Zhang Yichen found it hard to accept the letter left by his wife. Why did she have to treat him in such a decisive way? What exactly did he count as in her eyes? Why was it impossible for her ever to acknowledge her problem? Something so small, yet she had to make such a big fuss over it. Some things just needed to be clarified, wasn’t it necessary to do all this? Truly, idle hands are the devil’s workshop.

He decided that regardless of his wife’s decision, he wouldn’t go looking for her. He had already lowered his head and admitted his mistake once, but she had pushed him away without hesitation, so why should he seek her again? He was not one without dignity.

”If she’s gone, let her go, lest seeing her at home every day reminds me of those humiliating, sad things. Since she insists on leaving this house, why should I have her stay here in pain? I will grant her whatever she wants. Since she has decided to leave, why should I forcibly make her stay? Wouldn’t that only disappoint her for her dedication to me? If she wants such freedom, let her have it. I’ll live my own life well, it’s not as if I couldn’t live without her. The world is so vast, how could one give up half a lifetime’s happiness for a woman?”

Old Master Zhang learned about his granddaughter-in-law running away from home a week later, and when he knew of it, he found everything unbelievably surprising. He never expected his grandson to encounter such a thing one day, but ultimately the main issue was their lack of mutual trust, or how could it have come to this?

A marriage without trust is indeed frightening. Once you go astray, it becomes a grave of love, not a paradise of love. Some people never find their paradise of love in a lifetime, but some often fall from heaven into hell. Ultimately, everything arises from individual choices, and whether those are right or wrong is entirely up to oneself. If they choose wrongly, no one can help them.

Old Master Zhang could only sigh quietly, knowing everything was but destiny, with no way to change the heavenly rules...

One’s fate can only be changed by oneself!
