My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2233: Chapter 2066: Sky City

Rumors can be detrimental, and the journey we choose is often the one we least desire!

Old Master Zhang stood outside the door listening to the conversation between his son and daughter-in-law. He had been listening for a long time, but he hadn’t managed to hear anything correct.

He had always thought his son was an emotionally intelligent person, but now he realized his son was actually quite foolish. Should a woman be treated this way? If that’s the case, why do other women avoid him every time they see him?

He couldn’t stand it any longer and finally stepped in. He pushed open the door and entered his son’s bedroom, seeing his son and daughter-in-law. He intended to properly lecture them.

”Dad, why are you here?” Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing asked in unison when they saw Old Master Zhang enter.

”Why shouldn’t I be here? If I didn’t come, would you two go on and on without realizing your mistakes? I’ve been listening outside the door for so long, and neither of you seems to recognize your own faults, right?

Zhang Zhentian, don’t you even have the basic dignity and backbone of my son? If a woman doesn’t love you, she simply doesn’t love you. No matter how much you give, she won’t love you. So why shamelessly want to be with her? Even if you could sacrifice your life for her, would she ever see you as her most beloved?

Never, because her heart is already given to someone else, and you’ll never be able to win her heart in this lifetime!

A happy marriage requires mutual effort from both parties, but the premise for happiness is deep affection and sufficient trust between the two. Do you think you still have deep feelings and basic trust in each other? You’re both constantly doubting each other. Do you think this brings true happiness?

I never imagined that the child I painstakingly raised would be so foolish. You neglect your business acumen, fine, but why can’t you even learn the most basic things? Don’t you know how to protect your dignity? You let your wife point at your nose and insult you over and over. And what do you do? You just keep apologizing to her time and again. Do you think this will soften her heart?”

Xia Jing was embarrassed hearing her father say such things, and she could only smile awkwardly. But her smile angered Old Master Zhang.

”Why are you smiling? Do you think it’s funny that your husband gives everything for you, even willing to sacrifice his life? Are you truly heartless? Don’t you feel anything when your husband treats you this way? Trying to accept and be with him, wouldn’t that bring you happiness too?

Sometimes, don’t view certain things too importantly. It might bring you joy, but it causes pain to those around you.

Perhaps you haven’t realized what mistakes you’ve made. You’ve hidden your emotions, and it’s hurt my son, causing him to stumble into emotional turmoil and unable to extricate himself.

Do you think you’re happy being with him? Are you truly content? Have you ever thought that this is the life you want deep down? Haven’t you considered the consequences of repeatedly making such decisions?”

”I really don’t understand, what are the two of you thinking for this constant struggle over this issue? I’ve heard my son plead over and over, begging you to try and be with him, and yet you remain indifferent, never offering a simple smile or basic respect!

After all, you are legally married. Do you really think such discord between you is appropriate? Does seeing your partner lower his head before you bring you happiness and satisfaction?

Sometimes you feel he should treat you well because you’re accustomed to it. But if one day he stops, everything seems to fall apart.

Hasn’t he changed? Did he abandon you? Or has he been hurt so profoundly by you, not knowing how to express this, choosing instead to armor himself like a porcupine, confronting others to protect himself and prevent any further emotional harm? Have you considered what he’s been through? You only know what you want, your happiness that he couldn’t give, while you could give the happiness he sought, why not consider giving him a moment of happiness too?

Some words I might find hard to express directly, but I hope you both carefully consider them. Thoughtful decisions are the only correct ones, preventing regret. If you rashly decide, leading to a lifetime of regret, what meaning does that decision hold?”

Xia Jing and Old Master Zhang felt their father’s words were very right.

Xia Jing wondered if she was truly heartless. Why did she remain silent and indifferent to her husband’s heartfelt words despite his repeated lowering of himself? Why did she consistently refuse and escape when he humbled himself before her?

Sometimes just seeing two photos makes her feel like her demeanor is stone-hearted, offering little value in his eyes despite her efforts. Thus, his unchanged perception hurt deeply inside.

Loving someone like it’s an essence, yet unable to keep them by your side!
