My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2209: Chapter 2042: Time Periods

When I first saw you, you were so beautiful. How could I not be captivated by you? But at that time, you didn’t care about me. There were too many secrets hidden deep inside me that I dared not let you see clearly, fearing that once you knew, you’d ignore me. You will never understand how much I cherish you.

”Dad, Mom, how are Grandpa and Grandma doing now? I came home and saw no one at home. Just as I was about to go out to find you, Grandpa came back. But I noticed he wasn’t particularly happy. Then I asked him the reason, and when he told me what happened, although I was a bit shocked, I knew I couldn’t panic.

Because the burden on me is heavy, I will have to go through things that others might not be able to experience. You probably didn’t expect it, but this time I have completed all my tasks ahead of schedule again. After enduring rigorous training, I’ve once again returned to the secret bases domestic and abroad; they are no longer suitable for my training. I have to go find Uncle to carry out powerful training for me.”

Zhang Yichen didn’t expect his son would again exceed the completion of his tasks, bringing another unexpected surprise. He never thought his son would grow so quickly, and seeing his son taller than before, they felt comforted. How could they not be happy seeing their child become more mature day by day?

But why, in the process of their child’s growth, did his own parents experience such a mishap? Should he feel happy or sad, perhaps both should be felt.

”Nai’er, Daddy really didn’t expect you to complete the tasks exceeding expectations again this time, nor did I expect you to be faster than before. You truly are Daddy’s pride, but now Grandpa and Grandma are lying in this room, with no one able to speak to them. Their lives are hanging by a thread. Maybe I have no chance to give you any reward, but I hope you can wait until the day your grandparents wake up. Daddy will make up all the rewards to you. Maybe you don’t care about them because you’ve never received these things since childhood, but being a child, you also hope for rewards from your parents because it’s a recognition of your growth!”

Zhang Ni had to admit that his father’s words today really hit him in the heart. No matter how resilient he was over the years, no matter how much effort he put in to achieve his goals, whenever he got hurt time and again, she still hoped his parents could comfort him.

But not once did they, because his parents gave him the most rigorous training time and again.

His parents wanted him to know that only by persistently getting up again and again can one walk on a different path, reach the goals they wish for, and not lose decision-making power due to some incidents.

But how could Zhang Yichen not understand his son’s deep inner thoughts? As a child, doesn’t he hope to receive a reward from his parents after one success after another? As parental recognition, every child in the world hopes to receive such a reward. It’s a mark of great honor in their parents’ minds, believing their child is their pride.

But Zhang Ni is very sensible. Facing his father’s words, he calmly replied, ”Dad, it’s okay. As long as Grandpa and Grandma get better, nothing else matters to us.

You can give me the reward anytime. I can earn it myself and ask Dad for it next time, can’t I? Now the only thing we can do is to take good care of Great-grandpa and take good care of Grandpa and Grandma, hoping they wake up soon. We shouldn’t leave them alone, or else you’ll look lonely, and my heart will be deeply saddened.”

Zhang Yichen patted Zhang Ni’s head. He didn’t expect his son to grow so much after two years abroad, having not seen him in two whole years. He was eagerly waiting for his son to return home, thinking it would still be a few months. But unexpectedly, he finished all his courses so much earlier. How could his heart not swell with pride?

”Good child, you truly are Daddy’s pride. But now, the only thing we can do is wait, wait for a miracle. To see if heaven really grows eyes, looking at how toughly my parents struggle with destiny!

Dad knows you worry about Grandpa and Grandma just as much as us. Even though you say you dislike them and don’t want them around, deep down, you love them and want them to be by your side. Dad understands all your thoughts!

Sometimes Dad may have been too strict with you. After this year, you’ll be completely eight years old!

You really should grow up. Compared to your peers, you have matured far beyond anyone. But you have never complained, because you believe you can forge your own path, believe you can reach your own peak step by step, and someday fulfill your own dreams.”

Zhang Ni now doesn’t think about anything. He just wants his grandparents to wake up quickly. He noticed his parents’ eyes were filled with bloodshot, surely from a sleepless night. He didn’t want his parents to keep suffering like this, nor could he bear seeing them exhausted time and again.

”Dad, I believe a miracle will happen. You both should get some rest. Your eyes are already bloodshot. If Grandpa and Grandma wake up and see this, they’ll be worried and feel heartache. I’ll watch over them, and at the slightest movement, I’ll wake you up immediately, so you can take a little nap!”

Yes, Zhang Yichen believes a miracle will occur deep down. He believes heaven is fair and loves him. Perhaps he should truly save his strength, not let everything become tedious. He wants his parents to know he has always stayed by their side. They cannot let their health fail. If his parents wake up and see them like this, how could a father not feel pity for his child?

”Okay, Nai’er, you’ll watch here first. Dad and Mom will sit here and take a little nap. You must be vigilant. Don’t let anything happen to Grandpa and Grandma! If something goes wrong, wake us immediately, or if there’s an emergency, call the doctor, understand?”

”Dad, rest assured, I will definitely be vigilant. I’m no longer a child. You can rest peacefully for a while. Maybe when you wake up, Grandpa and Grandma will also have awakened. Don’t you believe Grandpa and Grandma will wake up?”

Perhaps watching you from afar is the closest intimacy, not needing much concern or hoping to be together. Maybe quietly being with you is a kind of happiness, without needing so many words to dress...
