My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2221: Chapter 2054: Perseverance

No one has ever understood my sorrow, just like daylight never knows how dark the night is!

Zhang Yichen truly doesn’t understand why, for his father, admitting to a mistake is so difficult? Is it truly that challenging for a grown man to say ”sorry”? A simple sentence could resolve everything, that would make all matters less troublesome. Why is it that his father is unwilling to acknowledge his errors? What does his family mean in his eyes, are they simply objects he can casually discard? He has never thought of admitting every mistake; he has committed them all himself, but he shifts all the blame onto others, never once contemplating what he did wrong, or whether his actions are justified.

”I truly don’t understand, is it so difficult for a grown man to acknowledge a mistake? In your heart, what do we, your family, mean to you? Are we so easily hurt, discarded, treated like puppets that come when called and leave when dismissed? Why do you never consider our difficulties from our perspective? We have always taken everything as gifts from you; we have always thought of everything as the most beautiful. We never wanted to harm you, but why do you treat us this way after all you’ve done? Where do you think this leaves us?

You have never considered problems from our perspective, never thought about how truly difficult our lives are. We’ve struggled to where we are today; it hasn’t been easy. Have you ever put yourself in our shoes and thought about our struggles? You’ve always been selfish, right from the start, even to this day if you still live only for yourself; your selfishness exceeds my imagination. It’s hard to believe a father could reach such lengths, abandoning and hurting all his family for his own interests; what does anyone mean to you?

You have never considered how discovering my errors impacts everyone in the family. You’ve lived selfishly all your life, but what have you gained in the end? Why won’t you ever stand in others’ shoes to consider their feelings? Your selfishness leaves me no room to forgive you; all your past mistakes could be overlooked, could be treated as if they hadn’t happened, but that doesn’t mean I’m foolish, naive, or that I can endure your harm and deception repeatedly. I chose to say nothing just to save face for both of us.

That’s because I didn’t want things to get more embarrassing between us; it’s even worse if others saying things like this leads to pointing fingers at our family, saying this and that is wrong, that our family is ruined. I don’t want to hear things like this; I especially don’t want my grandfather to be hurt by these things. Why can’t you see my earnest intentions even now? Why am I nothing in your eyes? When can you consider my difficulties from my perspective? When can you think from our family’s position? What harm has your actions caused our family? You may live selfishly and, heartlessly, but I cannot because I have my grandfather, my cares; I must strive for our whole family; I must take responsibility for the entire family. I cannot live like you, cold and heartless. Perhaps you’re happy or indifferent, but for me, life is simple: to let my grandfather enjoy his remaining years comfortably, with no pressure.

But look, ever since you came back to this home, hasn’t he been under less pressure? He’s been hurt over and over again, and for what? Isn’t it all for you, for your repeated struggles, for your countless wrongdoings, for your lifeless abandon? He’s an old man who gave his youth for you, who wouldn’t feel wronged even sacrificing his life for you; he’d rather feel happy because he has a chance to give for his son. But why do you treat me this way? I don’t ask you to give me anything, but I ask you not to harm the family I care about. You can leave, not love me, not return to this home, but not return and still choose to treat us this way. What you’ve done to us is extraordinarily cruel; you never considered what kind of consequences it would bring. I only hope everyone can live a peaceful life, but in the end, what have I gained? All you have given me is this harm, making me repeatedly abandoned by my own family.”

”Grandfather, I should not involve myself in matters between you and my father, let alone be excessively involved. But do you know how much my father has sacrificed over these years? How difficult it has been for him to reach where he is today? He has given you everything, only wishing for you to live happily, to live carefree; he watches over this home and your father, who has endured all the hurt only for you all. Yet my father has never chosen to abandon her because he knows his family are the ones who painstakingly raised him. He must hold a heart full of gratitude for his family; even a small kindness must be repaid generously. I don’t understand what mindset led you to abandon my father.

But now, after so many years, why do you still remain stubborn? My father has talked until his throat is dry, yet he never gives up trying to persuade you. Why can’t you feel his sincere intentions? Even a person with a cold heart would be touched to see their child pleading not to hurt their loved ones. But why are you so heartless? Have you ever considered their feelings with everything you’ve done? What do you take all of this to be? Does my father deserve to be hurt by you? Does your father deserve to be discarded by you repeatedly? Wake up, don’t stay stubborn!”

Pain, it turns out, is so simple; oh life, how can it be so hard!
