My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2236: Chapter 2069: Heaven and Earth

The world may be vast, but this road is difficult to walk!

”Do you really think you’re a good man? Actually, you’re not a good man at all. Don’t you have any awareness of that?

You’ve made so many mistakes yourself, yet you always think they’re everyone else’s fault. You’ve never thought of bearing responsibility for your own mistakes. You’re nothing but a coward. I don’t want to marry a coward, and I don’t want to live a lifetime with one!

Since things have come to this, there’s no need to say anything else. We’re each living the life we want now, isn’t that good? Why cling to what’s past? Everything that happened is now just fleeting clouds. Don’t strive for what doesn’t belong to you. Even if you keep yearning for them, those things aren’t yours. Why sacrifice your lifelong happiness for them?

I was using you from the start. I used your love for me, your affection, to achieve my own goals. To reach my goals, I’d do whatever it takes, even things you wouldn’t imagine. You never knew what I said behind your back.”

These past few days, he really didn’t want to hear him continue talking. He raised his hand and slapped him, startled by his son’s action. He never expected his son would hit a woman. Last time, he wouldn’t have imagined his son would even hit his beloved wife. If this is what love is, then his son should face some consequences.

”Shut up! Don’t say those things to me again, or don’t blame me for being rude to you. Whether I’m a coward has nothing to do with you, and the type of person I am isn’t your concern. I’ve made it clear: from now on, we have no connection, no relationship. We’re just strangers. So how dare you speak to a stranger like this? I don’t care what you did behind my back, or if you were with me to achieve your goal. I won’t dwell on these things anymore, but I don’t want to hear anyone call me a coward again. Otherwise, I’ll blame all the faults on you!”

Xia Jing never expected Zhang Zhentian to actually hit her. After so many years, even though she’d made many mistakes, Zhang Zhentian had never hit her. This was the first time, and she was truly stunned.

”You actually dared to hit me, but I hope you remember this action for life. Since you hit me, it proves there’s no longer any relationship between us. You’ve broken our affection with your own hands. Remember, if one day you ask me to return to you, think carefully about what you’ve done today. You’ve broken over ten years of marital affection with one slap. For over a decade, you’d never hit me. Every day was filled with laughter. But today, because I called you a coward, you hit me. Can you not handle a joke? In your eyes, do you secretly believe you’re a useless man? Always hesitant and lacking a man’s responsibility. Do you not feel you’ve lived a failed life? A man like you, what’s the point of living in this world? Hitting a woman shows you’re truly useless.

I’m not going to waste words with you, but remember this slap, the handprint on my face. It broke our acquaintance, our understanding, our companionship, and our separation...

If I had known you would hit a woman, no matter what, I would never have been with you. Such behavior is embarrassing. A man who dares hit his wife proves he’s utterly irresponsible. You’ve shown with your actions that you’re useless, a coward, a man without responsibility. Everyone will see your mistakes as disgraceful!”

Zhang Zhentian looked at his own hands, unable to believe he hit the woman he loved most in a fit of rage. Maybe this really severed the affection they had, her formidable pride shattered by being slapped in public.

Xia Jing couldn’t accept this, no matter what. Even if this man loved her deeply, even if he’d sacrificed everything for her, today, he hit her. This slap completely shattered her heart.

”Xia Jing, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you just now; I acted out of anger. I didn’t intentionally want to hurt you. Will you forgive me? Please don’t be mad at me, or I truly don’t know what to do!”

”You don’t need to say this to me again, and don’t try to keep me by your side. Whether intentional or not, the fact that you hit me proves you don’t love me as much as you claim. Since you don’t love me, don’t drag me down. Let me find the love I want, live my life, and pursue the things I’ve always dreamed of!

You might think that slap was unintentional, but to me, you did it on purpose. You didn’t want me to speak those words because you couldn’t bear the truth that you’re a coward. I’ve thought about this: if the person I love most were to hit me one day, I would never live with him again. A man hitting his wife is utterly conclusive that he’s not a man. I will absolutely not live with someone who’s not a man!

Can you still claim you’re a man now?”

Zhang Zhentian couldn’t find any words in response to Xia Jing’s questioning because he knew he was at fault this time!

I’m grateful you were with me for life, through the blossoms and the withering, I’ll cherish it just the same!
