Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Zambia’s capital, Lusaka.

As one of the three major collective armies of the Bone Demon Clan, the scale of the Skeleton Battalion is absolutely beyond imagination. Even though it’s only a Level 6 battalion, on the African Continent, the scale of the Skeleton Battalion can be described as boundless!

Lusaka is one of the defense zones of the Skeleton Battalion, and it is also where Little White is currently located.

”Assemble! Assemble!”

When the captain’s voice rang out, Little White immediately armed himself and was the first to rush out of the barrack, standing obediently in front of the captain.

Standard movements and quick reactions.

This was the captain’s first assessment of Little White.

When he saw the soldiers behind Little White dragging their feet, the captain silently added in his heart, a talent with potential...

Although this young Bone Demon is weak and still a refugee, based on his performance these days, he indeed puts one at ease. Once I get promoted, I’ll let this guy named Little White take over as squad captain.

Just as the captain was quietly contemplating the idea of promoting Little White, the entire team was already lined up.

With a big wave of his hand, the captain shouted ”Depart,” and the whole team immediately sprang into action to start their daily routine—patrolling.

This patrolling is different from the duties of the patrol team; the Skeleton Battalion is not required to undertake external patrols, but within the camp, key defense areas such as the granary, fuel depot, armory, and supply storage still need security measures.

Standing behind the captain, Little White scanned the surroundings, striking a vigilant posture while observing the military movements of the Skeleton Battalion until the patrol team reached the location of the supply storage.

”Rest here.”

Same route every day, same procedure, same cheers—the cannon fodder in the Skeleton Battalion, these so-called patrol members cheered as they put down their weapons, collectively seeking shade to begin their usual chitchat.

”Why? Not taking a break? This is about the only perk we have.”

Seeing Little White standing straight as a rod, the captain stepped forward with a teasing smile.

Little White shook his head, his lips curling into a smile that, in the eyes of Bone Demons, might be considered ”naïve.”

”I’m not tired yet.”

”Master, the armory is in the northeast of the city, 2 kilometers from Barrack 3, and the granary is to the east, 3 kilometers to the right side of Barrack 8.”

The captain gently patted Little White’s shoulder, glanced at the group of freeloaders in the squad, and praised, ”Good, keep it up. I’ve put your name down for the team’s excellence award; the magic crystals reward should be enough to get you to Level 4.”

Little White looked at the captain with a simple, honest face and said, ”Well then, thank you, captain.”

”The fuel depot is on the city’s westernmost edge, where the elite group is stationed. It’s suggested to prioritize striking there. The supply storage is in the very center of the city.”

The squad captain encouraged Little White a few more times before turning away to head in another direction. Watching the Bone Demon captain’s departing figure, in spiritual fluctuation, Little White conveyed to Wen Yu, ”Master, I’m currently in the shaded area to the right of the supply storage. In our squad, there’s an Early Stage Level 5 Bone Demon wearing an armband. I hope you can take him down when we launch the attack.”

”Oh? Did he bully you?”

”Not at all, he treats me well, but it seems he’s in my way.”

”...No problem.”

...

Standing outside the city, Wen Yu hung up communication, looked at the ruined city wall ahead, along with the shadowy figures on the wall, and spoke to the nearby Akad.

”Let’s begin.”

”I can’t take this city on my own.”

Akad frowned, looking through the general troop distribution map of Lusaka shared by Wen Yu, and spoke frankly of his predicament.

Until Wen Yu clapped his hands softly.

A round earth ball with big light yellow eyes spinning wildly suddenly appeared at Akad’s feet.

”Greetings, Master.”

”Let me introduce, this is Shangu, and now, the one lying on your shoulder, that’s called Cloud Puppet. They are your teammates for this mission.”

Hearing this, Akad immediately turned to look at his shoulder, but no matter how he looked, he couldn’t see the so-called Cloud Puppet, so he didn’t bother anymore, just shaking his head: ”Only two reinforcements... still not enough...”

Wen Yu was also disinclined to explain the puppet battalion’s existence to Akad, merely rebuking impatiently, ”Just do as you’re told, no nonsense.”

”OK, OK, you’re the boss, you’re the one calling the shots.”

Having said that, Akad’s eyes immediately turned blood-red, as a large pool of blood-like red liquid instantly transformed the soil within ten meters around Akad into a scarlet swamp. Then, a deep roaring sound emerged from the red swamp as one after another, the red mutant beast blood slaves crawled out from the world of death, roaring as they charged towards Lusaka in the distance.

”For the record, I don’t have many blood slaves right now, just about a hundred thousand or so in total.”

Wen Yu discerned a boastful tone in Akad’s words, merely shook his head slightly, and said in a low voice, ”Indeed, a hundred thousand is not much; for this operation, I dispatched a force of 300,000 all at once!”

Akad raised his eyebrows in confusion, until Wen Yu pointed toward the distant city wall.

”Well, my people have commenced action.”

Following Wen Yu’s finger, Akad looked over, only to see that even before the roaring blood slaves reached the city wall, the already dilapidated wall collapsed with a bang. Then, a gust of gale surged in a small range, and the endless wind blades within the gale tore through every Demon Fiend they encountered, leaving them bleeding profusely.

In no time, the cries of agony, the clash of wind blades, and the sound of bone demon scale armor never ceased to echo.

The strange situation rendered Akad silent.

After a while, Akad finally spoke, ”With such means, why enlist my help?”

”To deflect attention...”

Wen Yu replied nonchalantly, ”Could your status and mine be the same? It’s fine for you to appear in Africa; the Demon Tribe might not even bother. If I appear in Africa, the Demon Tribe would trigger a war alert. Once the Demon Tribe becomes wary, how can I slack off...”

The Soul Puppet Legion’s current strength is inadequate and still in the phase of ”stockpiling resources.” Once exposed, Wen Yu could easily imagine the targeting by the Demon Tribe on the soul puppets, so pulling Akad into this was quite a reasonable choice for Wen Yu.

On the surface, the existence of Cloud Puppet and Shangu seemed akin to skills, and the skills possessed by the blood slaves from the River of Death were simply innumerable!

The origin of the soul puppets remains untraceable by the Demon Tribe.

”Tch.”

Akad clicked his tongue in annoyance; indeed, Wen Yu’s words made the proud Akad very displeased.

Until the blood slaves army roared as they stormed into the city wall, Wen Yu patted Akad on the shoulder.

”Go ahead, make an appearance and announce Akad’s presence to the world... Come to think of it, you’ve been quiet for far too long since you were once Sequence Number 5...”
