Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Even after living in the new home for three days, Ashiya still hadn’t recovered from the immense surprise and shock.

For this personal maid of Thunderfield, things had changed way too fast.

The bed was too soft...

The food was too delicious...

The servants were too respectful...

The room decorations were too luxurious...

The electricity and clean water were too plentiful...

Oh, and the house was just too big.

Several times, Ashiya even got lost in this place referred to as ’her home’.

It’s just that the surprise came too suddenly...

At this moment, Ashiya was changing Friday’s diaper. Even though this sort of dirty work was naturally the duty of the estate’s maids, Ashiya found them too clumsy. For Friday, whom she regarded as her own, Ashiya would never entrust him to some unfamiliar women.

Before she was halfway through with her task, the maid outside knocked on the door.

The head maid of the estate gently opened the door and said to Ashiya, ”My lady, Lady Xima is here to see you.”

Hearing the head maid’s words, Ashiya paused her action and then sighed lightly.

”Understood, arrange her in the living room, I’ll be right there.”

Lady Xima, her neighbor, was said to be the secretary of Sequence Number 83 — Dirang, and maybe his wife, who knows.

Ashiya wasn’t really interested in these things herself, however, ”position dictates mindset.” Since she had entered the circle of Sequence-class, she naturally had to face a lot of hectic matters — such as the social gatherings of the family members of Sequence-class powerful experts...

These ’noblewomen’, relying on their husbands’ formidable strength, live in the best houses in Eternal Sky City, enjoying a lifestyle unimaginable to regular people, living in extreme luxury even more than before the apocalypse! But don’t underestimate them, while their husbands are out fighting, they also have to take on the responsibility of building connections and social networking!

Relationships are like a big net, they may seem useless ordinarily, but at critical moments, who can predict how valuable they can become.

And nothing is more suitable than socializing with other ’family members of powerful experts’ living in the same area.

...

When Ashiya descended the stairs holding Friday, she saw Xima, dressed in a white shirt, black skirt, and black stockings on her legs.

This former secretary of Dirang still looked sharp and capable, and her aura hadn’t diminished with the disbandment of the Indian Rebel Army; instead, it became even stronger.

With Dirang’s strength, as long as he didn’t ruin things for himself, he was bound to be valued by the Yanjing side — this value would even afford him more power than being the rebel army’s leader ever did!

That’s the benefit of enlarging the cake.

In fact, Dirang wasn’t someone so clueless about the realities. After a brief meeting with Lin Haifeng, Dirang immediately decided to join the Cathay military — maybe Lin Haifeng didn’t offer him other choices.

And following alongside Dirang, Xima’s status rose accordingly, along with her inherent ability, allowing her to navigate the sequence-beings residential area with ease.

Seeing Ashiya walking down the stairs, Xima put down her coffee, stood up immediately, and with a smile on her face, took three quick steps towards her, practically familiar as she took Friday from Ashiya’s arms, and skillfully started to rock him.

Friday giggled in Xima’s arms, looking quite happy.

It seemed that Xima and Ashiya weren’t meeting for the first time — in fact, just three days ago, when Ashiya had just moved into this mansion, Xima had already visited.

Judging from Xima’s familiarity with Friday, these past days’ interactions between the two could indeed be described as a joyous guest-host relationship.

The two women sat on the sofa, chatting about everyday topics.

”Where’s Rahal?”

”He went to school, just enrolled yesterday, and I went to see it too. The school’s environment is really excellent.”

The school Rahal attends would naturally be a noble school located in Eternal Sky City, tailored specifically for the offspring of powerful experts, with top-notch environment, faculty, and security.

”By the way, hasn’t Sir Novar returned yet? Dirang wants to hold a party to entertain the old neighbors around.”

Ashiya shook her head: ”Sir Novar’s work is quite busy. He hasn’t come back these days.”

What Novar mentioned at first wasn’t a lie — as a super expert in the military, his work is extremely busy. Without a family, this home in Eternal Sky City is just for show.

In fact, Dirang is also tremendously busy, and the so-called party might just be Xima using Dirang’s name to organize a small meet-up intended for socializing.

The two women continued chatting about some mundane topics until an hour later Xima finally revealed her real purpose for coming here.

”Oh, let me tell you some good news...”

Xima mysteriously took out an invitation card.

”The day after tomorrow evening, Mrs. Fang invites us to visit her place, said it’s to celebrate the birth of a chubby little boy by Sequence Number 53’s wife, but it’s just an excuse. It’s to get some of us bored people together to chat. This is a great opportunity, I must tell you, the attendees of Mrs. Fang’s party are all the noblewomen of Yanjing.”

After speaking, Xima directly placed the invitation in front of Ashiya. Staring at the large gold-embossed words on the invitation, Ashiya looked at Xima in confusion.

”Mrs. Fang?”

”Fang Bai’s wife, Commander Lin’s daughter, Lin Tianxue.”

A few simple words explained in detail the high status of the host of the party — even if she hadn’t been in Eternal Sky City for long, Ashiya knew what Fang Bai represented, and what the three words Lin Commander represented.

Ashiya opened her mouth to say something but swallowed it halfway.

Living in this mansion owned by Sir Novar, there was clearly some kind of misunderstanding, but it wasn’t a bad one — Novar needed someone to help manage these social connections, and whether it was for Novar, Friday, or even herself, such connections were only beneficial.

Back then, Novar grandly waved his hand, directly allocated the property to Friday’s name, allowing her to stay and take care of Friday, and manage the servants including the head maid, perhaps all for this consideration.

Complicated thoughts swirled rapidly in her mind. After a while, a slight smile appeared on Ashiya’s lips, and she nodded gently.

”Then, let’s go pick out a couple of dresses this afternoon, sister.”

As the personal maid of Ray, Ashiya was not someone inexperienced in society, lacking neither education nor talent nor upbringing, now having a Sequence-class expert as a backing, dealing with such social events, although rusty, shouldn’t encounter any major issues.

Seeing Ashiya’s response, Xima also revealed a more intimate smile.

Having Xima reach out to invite Ashiya proved that Ashiya was on her side — with so many powerful experts in the Cathay military now, naturally, there would be some factions, and there were quite a few behind-the-scenes dealings, even though Lin Haifeng strictly governed the military, the experts under his command didn’t dare form cliques outright, but having the women behind them engage in these activities didn’t seem to be a big deal.

In any case, within the vast Yanjing Assembly Site, the myriad complexities were enough to dazzle those caught in the game.

The two women chatted about some irrelevant gossip, until while they were discussing ”which beauty salon had better techniques,” an alarm echoing throughout Eternal Sky City interrupted their chatter!

The synthesized mechanical voice rained down from the sky, a grand warning resonating across all of Eternal Sky City.

”Level 6 Level Lock has been activated.”

”Level 6 Level Lock has been activated.”

”Level 6 Level Lock has been activated.”

After the alarm repeated thrice, the mechanical voice relayed another explosive piece of news.

”Detection of a large swarm of Demon Fiends moving, Red Danger Level, residents of Eternal Sky City please remain in your abodes, in three minutes, Eternal Sky City will enter a complete lockdown.”
