Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Little White’s face was stained with blood, and his smile under the afterglow of the setting sun appeared so brilliant.

Naughty Two and Ear immediately dashed out, supporting the faltering Little White to the location of the supplies and pouring injury medicine down his throat.

Though the Demon Tribe’s injury medicine couldn’t compare to what the Exchange Stone Pillar offered, its effects weren’t bad either. In just a few minutes, Little White’s wounds fully healed.

However, the numerous Bone Demons present knew that the threat Little White had just resolved was only part of this raid.

Danger was far from gone.

Little White, with his wounds healed, stood up, gazed at his surrounding fearful teammates, and immediately gripped his long sword tightly, saying loudly.

”Brothers, life and death, wealth and honor, hinge on this fight! As long as we can guard the supply depot, not only will we avoid blame, but we’ll also gain merit, so fight with everything you’ve got!”

The team members looked at each other in dismay.

The truth was, even if they didn’t fight with all their might, there didn’t seem to be any other option...

...

The supply warehouse Little White was guarding was merely a corner of the Demon Race Camp. With Little White acting as the insider, the happenings of Little White’s Squad were far from encapsulating the entire battlefield.

In other places, real fierce battles were taking place!

Numerous blood slaves rampaged through the camp. Endless troops of Cloud Puppets and Mountain Kui, like hunters without shadows, hid in the dark, wielding butcher’s knives against the Demon Fiends. Even Wen Yu himself took on the most ”formidable” task—stealthily assassinating the camp’s top fighters unsuspectedly.

It wasn’t very difficult; just activate the concealment effect of the Heaven-covering Robe, then approach them and land a punch…

Raging Soul Energy flew in from all directions, collected by Wen Yu into his right hand. In secluded spots, Wen Yu would even deploy the Almighty Demon Vine to extract some of the Demon Fiends’ flesh and Soul Essence to boost his own physical quality and Soul Strength.

It wasn’t until Akad flamboyantly traipsed from the east to the west of the city, from the south to the north, strolling around the camp several times, that Wen Yu sent a Spiritual Fluctuation to Akad.

”Retreat.”

The city’s Demon Fiends had been more than half slaughtered by Wen Yu and Akad, and given Wen Yu’s unwillingness to take action blatantly, this process wasn’t brief; during this time, the Demon Tribe had become fully alert.

Looking afar, swirling smoke and dust had begun to rise—that was the Demon Tribe’s reinforcements.

For the last time, Wen Yu cast his gaze toward the city center, where Little White, with only five Bone Demons left, was ”fighting to the death.” Seeing the situation, Wen Yu smiled knowingly and then cleared some traces that might reveal his location. Under the cover of the Heaven-covering Robe, he left silently.

The battle concluded.

...

”Huff… huff…”

Breathing heavily as if he were bellows, blood flowed from his forehead into his eyes as Little White brandished his battle saber, stabbing furiously at a blood slave that lunged at him.

Even if it was an act, in such an environment, the act had to look real!

Since Little White ”dealt with” the Cloud Puppet, the battle had not ceased. Numerous blood slaves roared and charged at the supply storage warehouse as Little White led a patrol team in bloody combat, sacrificing themselves fearlessly…

Sacrifice, or rather meeting their demise, was the fate of other Demon Fiends.

Fearlessness, or rather becoming immersed in the role, was Little White’s...

In such a fierce battle, no one noticed that Little White’s circumstance was slightly peculiar—in Akad’s precise manipulation, the blood slaves that lunged at Little White sometimes made fatal errors, which allowed Little White to seize the opportunity and decapitate them with a single stroke.

Even if someone noticed this point, they would quickly end up dead meat under the Cloud Puppet’s aiding assist.

After a blood slave died, it would only leave behind a pool of foul-smelling blood in its place. In the short, hour-long defense battle, the blood on the ground flowed ceaselessly like a river, silently narrating the military exploits of this cannon fodder squad, until Little White felt even he as an actor was slightly struggling, and the attacking blood slaves finally halted their assault and retreated rapidly in all directions.

Outside the city, the earth-shaking sound of footsteps and roars of Demon Fiends reverberated everywhere, and the gathering of Demon Fiends stirred a raging Demonic Qi cloud that instantly shrouded over the base.

Seeing this, Little White finally exhaled a long breath and looked at the five remaining teammates beside him.

”Fellows, reinforcements are here...”

...

After the war, Lusaka looked particularly desolate, standing atop Lusaka’s city wall, looking at the bloodstains and corpses scattered everywhere, the commander responsible for leading the reinforcement couldn’t help but twitch his eyebrows.

It wasn’t until the pro-soldier approached the commander, whispering a few words in his ear.

”Akad? Are you sure?”

”I’m certain, sir. Many people saw Akad’s figure, and from the battle’s residual traces, it indeed seems like the River of Death skill—it’s undoubtedly Akad.”

”Hmm.”

The commander nodded, thoughtfully asking.

”Where is Lusaka’s former commander?”

”The former commander’s corpse was found in the command post, killed with a single strike, likely by an assassination expert whose strength is no less than Akad, perhaps even stronger.”

”Was it a blood slave or another professionist?”

”Based on the available information, we can’t determine that. Many traces have been deliberately destroyed.”

The commander understood and immediately said: ”Report the existing intelligence to the central command and let them make the decision; simultaneously gather up the remaining troops and supplies, inform them that now they’ve been taken over by the Skeleton Battalion’s Second Collective Army’s Eighth Regiment Fourth Division. I’ll go to the command post first, bring me the detailed loss assessment soon.”

...

As one of the elite corps of the Demon Tribe, the Skeleton Battalion’s operational efficiency was beyond question; the battlefield cleanup and loss assessment, all post-war tasks proceeded orderly.

It didn’t take long for the detailed intelligence about this battle to be delivered to the new commander.

Flipping through the report, the commander issued one command after another to the side pro-soldier.

”This team is excellent; they were the first to be ready to meet the enemy at the battle’s onset, their officer is very capable—promote three military ranks.”

”This warrior performed admirably, breaking through to Level 6 during the battle, and the awakened skill was also excellent; transfer him to the elite corps.”

”This entire squad fled from the battlefield? They really have some nerve to come back—take them out for military law disposal!”

Until a name called ”Little White” caught the commander’s eye.

”Guarded the supply storage warehouse, led the squad to kill over forty same-level Blood Beasts—hmm, this little guy is not bad, just a bit low in power…”

”Let’s do it this way, distribute some magic crystals as a reward, and promote their military rank by one level; also, transfer them to the main battle forces, let’s appoint this Little White as a squad leader.”
