Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

In the face of Tang Haofei’s overwhelming power, Fran really didn’t want to think more about that destructive scene just now, and could only change the topic.

Unexpectedly, Lin Haifeng just gently shook his head.

”Divine nature is bullshit...”

A light sigh came from Lin Haifeng’s mouth as the old man saw Tang Haofei leaving, the terrifying aura that enveloped Yanjing gradually moved away, and only then did he recover from the pressure just now.

At this moment, discussing Tang Haofei just now might also be considered a form of self-adjustment.

So, the old man naturally picked up on Fran’s conversation.

”The so-called price of power is nothing more than a mentality, or rather, a desire...”

”Oh?”

Fran raised an eyebrow, obviously very interested in this topic — after Tang Haofei ’showed off his hand simply’, no one was uninterested in Tang Haofei, and those who knew, knew well this so-called price of power!

Lin Haifeng walked back to the desk, made himself another cup of tea, and looked at the screen on the television that had already changed — the drone could not keep up with Tang Haofei’s speed, and the live broadcast of the war circumstances could only be terminated at this moment.

But the result, even a fool could guess with their backside!

Looking at the television host loudly singing praises for Tang Haofei, as if they had found a savior, Lin Haifeng gently smiled.

Taking a sip of hot tea, Lin Haifeng then spoke slowly.

”This is not an illness, nor is it any bullshit divine nature, the so-called price of power is really just a mentality.”

Looking at the confused Fran, and listening to the noise outside as if it was the New Year’s celebration, Lin Haifeng pointed to a huge book beside him.

”What is this?”

”The Yanjing Assembly Site legal document, revised under my supervision!”

”Used to manage who?”

”The residents of the Yanjing Assembly Site and Eternal Sky City.”

”Wrong, let me ask you again, used to manage who?”

With a hint of confusion in Fran’s eyes, Lin Haifeng smiled, then pointed out the window: ”That guy is also a resident of the Yanjing Assembly Site!”

Fran suddenly realized, but Lin Haifeng didn’t need Fran’s answer.

”The laws we set are actually to restrain the weak. In fact, you also know, for sequence-class powerful experts, we have another set of criteria, not to mention that guy Tang Haofei!”

”So, law, in essence, can only restrain the weak, then what about the powerful? What do we use to restrain the powerful?”

Fran remained silent.

”Morality, we use morality to restrain the powerful! Or rather, not to restrain, but to regulate... Whether the powerful adhere to morality still depends on their own ideas, just like the ancient kings of Cathay, they held great power, so they used benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and faith to regulate the royal power, but largely, it still depended on the king’s self-awareness — but the current situation is different from that time!”

”At that time, if the king was cruel and unrighteous, naturally there would be uprisings to drive him off the throne, but when individual power widened to the extreme, like that guy who just flew out, who can pull him down?”

”Therefore, in the apocalypse, besides internal morality, nothing else can restrain Tang Haofei, Wen Yu, such level of guys...”

”In the past, Tang Haofei used morality to regulate his behavior, and he did it very well! As the strongest creature in the world, he didn’t bully men or women, didn’t fight for power or wealth, had no ambition, and was wholeheartedly for the Human Race, for Earth, which is really good, very perfect! However, when his power skyrocketed, he lacked the mentality and self-discipline to match that power. In other words, the price of power has a particularly simple explanation — that is, the so-called mentality collapsed...”

”Desire lost its shackles, and wildness lost its constraints!”

”I don’t know if you’ve ever heard a saying, a person must have abilities worthy of their ambition, but conversely, a person must also have ambitions worthy of their abilities.”

”When power becomes strong to a certain stage, creatures like humans naturally demand more, which is called ambition, and this is a good thing, this is also instinct!”

”But too strong... Tang Haofei suddenly became so strong, his power increased by at least hundreds of times in a short period of time!”

”He rightfully demands more, needs more, so much that being human can no longer satisfy his desire, he wants to become a god! Under such circumstances, for the mentality not to collapse would be the strange part!”

Fran opened his mouth, and after a while, smiled bitterly.

”Your explanation is very interesting.”

Lin Haifeng took another sip of tea, nodded with a bitter smile.

”I also find it very interesting, this is what I realized after having long-term contact with Tang One and Tang Two, in other words, the so-called confrontation between Tang Haofei’s primary personality and secondary personality can actually be simply explained as a confrontation between morality, or human nature and desire!”

”You also know, right? Wen Yu said, the price of power is irreversible! Why irreversible? Very simple, Tang Two is not some heart demon or something, in fact, this thing is just Tang Haofei himself, himself trying to get rid of himself, isn’t this a joke...”

Fran pondered.

”And the more interesting part is yet to come.”

Lin Haifeng’s face turned serious.

”If we simplify the problem, according to my explanation just now, to interpret this price of power, then, the confrontation between Tang One and Tang Two, who do you think will win?”

Fran paused, and Lin Haifeng’s words, like a magical sound entering the ears, kept flooding into Fran’s mind.

”Without humanity, people will lose their sense of shame, not understand etiquette, lack emotions, not differentiate right from wrong, and transform into the most ruthless beasts...”

”However, without desire, a person cannot eat, cannot drink water, cannot avoid danger, even cannot breathe, and can only become a disgusting piece of flesh...”

”Desire is the cornerstone of humanity, why did some people become unscrupulous when the apocalypse just began, some even became cannibals, these monsters? This is not their fault, humanity, humanity, there must first be people, people must live, only then can there be humanity! The desire for survival is the foundation that supports our life! Although saying this may be harsh, but...”

”Humans! True core total boundary, animal kingdom, post-born animal sub-world, deuterostomia, phylum Chordata, vertebrate sub-gate, amniota clade, class mammalia, subclass eutheria, primate order, Hominoid suborder, narrow-nosed monkey suborder, Hominoid superfamily, Human family, Human subfamily, Human Race, Human genus, homo sapiens. The essence of humans is actually just an animal! Being the Dominator of Earth, they just had dumb luck, mastering the tool of wisdom, so to speak, humans aren’t as advanced as we imagine! And human nature isn’t as strong as we imagine!”
