After returning to the valley, Chen Wen immediately poured all the water from the military food bag and the kettle into the pot.

When he was on the snowy mountain, after sliding down the snow slope with the iron pot, Chen Wen took a rest and used the snow to scrub the surface of the pot.

At this moment, there was no need to worry about sanitation issues.

After adding water, Chen Wen went to the cave entrance, took a few stones blocking the entrance, and built a simple earth stove on the open ground outside the cave.

Meanwhile, he also took some of the piled-up cow dung from the valley and placed it in the earth stove.

He took out a fire stick, which was actually a thicker magnesium rod mixed with some other metals inside.

All he needed to do was take out a dagger or metal object, strike hard against the fire stick, and a lot of sparks would appear.

When the sparks hit the dry tinder, it would ignite directly.

The fire stick in Chen Wen’s hand had a lifespan of approximately five thousand uses, much more durable than the common fire sticks on the market.

He picked up the dagger and brought the fire stick close to the cow dung.

Swiped it hard!

Sizzle!

Crack!

Accompanied by a brilliant flash of light, a large shower of sparks fell onto the cow dung.

Chen Wen didn’t need to do anything else.

The extremely dry cow dung was ignited by the flame and burst into flames with a whoosh.

Nearby, the snow leopard was startled by the flames and once again bit its own tail.

Stop acting cute...

Watching the snow leopard, Chen Wen couldn’t help but comment.

Is this really the guy who treads effortlessly on cliffs and hunts mountain goats?

How come it seems like all it knows is biting its tail and acting cute!

Shaking his head, Chen Wen stopped caring about the snow leopard.

Instead, he started cooking.

He first placed the large flat iron pot on the stove to heat the water inside.

Once the water boiled, Chen Wen poured part of it into the kettle.

Then he took out the bag of sugar and added all the sugar into the kettle, shaking it evenly.

This water was stored by Chen Wen as a reserve water source, though he surely planned to take a few sips later.

Then he took out the Argali bones, removed the meat from them, and crushed them with his fists before putting them into the iron pot.

The meat he had taken off was also sliced by Chen Wen and thrown into the pot.

The internal organs he had taken along were also sliced and thrown in by Chen Wen.

The iron pot had a lid, though it was just a large iron piece with a wooden pull ring on it.

After covering the pot, the high temperature began to slowly heat the bones and meat.

As the hot water in the iron pot boiled again, the meat in the pot also began to change color.

At an average altitude of over 4,800 meters in Qiangtang, the boiling point here was below 90 degrees.

Chen Wen roughly estimated that the boiling point at his location was about 85 degrees.

The meat could still be cooked thoroughly.

After waiting for a while, accompanied by the bubbling sounds, Chen Wen lifted the lid of the big pot.

Steamy mist swirled!

The mist naturally came from the vapor in the pot.

The smoke was the smoke produced by the burning cow dung.

The smoke had a strong, pungent smell, but it didn’t have the stench of cow dung, so Chen Wen could accept it.

After glancing at the situation inside the pot, Chen Wen grabbed the knife and fork provided in the military rations, stirring the Argali bones and meat, turning them over.

Due to the special nature of the flat iron pot, Chen Wen had to keep flipping the meat blocks to ensure they were submerged in the water to cook evenly on both sides.

He boiled it for nearly three hours like this.

As dusk approached, Chen Wen finally finished cooking a pot of meat and broth.

Of course, Chen Wen didn’t stay idle during these three hours.

He sliced the remaining meat into strips along the grain, found a clean stone, and placed the strips near the fire stove to heat them with the escaping heat.

After the broth was ready, Chen Wen immediately put the meat strips on the fire stove to start roasting.

This step wasn’t to cook the meat strips through, but to kill any potential parasite eggs, preparing them to be sun-dried into Argali jerky.

After dealing with the Argali jerky, Chen Wen eagerly sat beside the flat iron pot.

Since the snow leopard and the golden eagle had already eaten their fill, they didn’t come over.

Thus, this meal became Chen Wen’s personal grand feast!

Starving for a full three days and eight meals, Chen Wen was finally about to have his first meal on the third evening!

He swallowed the saliva that was secreting, lifted the pot lid.

”Whoa!”

Chen Wen took a deep breath and exhaled with satisfaction.

The taste of the meat, along with a strong, gamey smell emerged.

This climbing feat was completely unprocessed and not de-gamed, and Chen Wen also didn’t use the cold water cooking method to force out the blood.

The gamey smell was very strong!

But having survived so many times, Chen Wen was no longer bothered by this taste, especially when he was extremely hungry.

He took out the salt packet, tore open the package.

Then Chen Wen picked up a piece of Argali meat, lavishly sprinkled a pinch of salt over it.

He rolled up the meat slice and put it in his mouth.

The slightly tender lamb, paired with the salty taste of the salt, instantly became a top gourmet meal for the highland survivor!

Chen Wen squinted his eyes, chewed for a long time before swallowing the lamb.

The taste was genuinely good!

Meanwhile, after Chen Wen ate that piece of lamb, the system activated.

The Argali entry could be plundered!

Chen Wen quickly opened the system, squinting as he looked at the entry.

There was no point mentioning the negative entry of the Argali; the remaining two positive entries were one gold and one white, incomparable.

Chen Wen decisively chose the gold entry.

[High Mountain Watcher (Gold): When you survive in plateau or mountain areas, greatly enhances your vision, allowing you to see further, and grants a slight night vision ability]

This entry was incredibly timely for Chen Wen!

Although it limited the survival area, it provided a boost in vision and a slight night vision ability.

It greatly compensated for Chen Wen’s current shortcomings.

A good entry!

After choosing the entry, Chen Wen followed the same pattern, eating half a pack of salt in the same lavish way.

”I can’t go on eating like this, I have to save some space for the dried lamb.”

Chen Wen reluctantly put down the salt pack and began devouring the remaining Argali meat and bones.

Chen Wen didn’t even spare the bone marrow from the bones; he used the leg bone of a non-lethal animal he had picked up to crack open the bones and ate up all the marrow.

Bone marrow was rich in fats, proteins, and various trace elements, giving Chen Wen a nice supplement of nutrients.

After eating the meat, there was still half a pot of broth left.

Chen Wen didn’t mind being unrefined and directly held the big pot, drinking a significant amount of broth.

Replenishing the lacking water and energy.

During the cooking, a lot of nutrients had also been boiled into the broth, so it wasn’t wasted.

After drinking the broth, Chen Wen burped in satisfaction.

His stomach, empty for three days, was finally filled.

Ah, comfort!

Even after eating his fill, the work was not yet finished.

After resting for a while, Chen Wen started working again.

He put the remaining salt into the broth, stirring it until the salt dissolved.

He then began to season the roasted Argali meat with this broth.

Seasoning took Chen Wen about ten minutes.

By the time he had neatly arranged the processed meat on the stone, it was already late at night.

Chen Wen added some more cow dung, keeping the bonfire burning.

Before drowsiness could set in, Chen Wen found a relatively hard stone, cracked open the Argali’s skull, and extracted its brain.

After using a stone to mash the Argali’s brain into a liquid, Chen Wen spread out the Argali skin and applied the mixed substance onto it.

Chen Wen had used the Brain Tanning Method for tanning leather more than once, and was quite familiar with it by now.

After evenly applying it, Chen Wen folded the Argali skin a few times and tossed it into a corner of the cave.

Awaiting further processing.
