Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Since it was confirmed that hunting was possible, Chen Wen naturally wouldn’t let this opportunity slip by.

According to his estimate, he should be able to reach the surface today, and then he could look for some wild yak dung or some sheep dung, among other things.

Then he could use these things to light a bonfire and cook food.

So today or in the next few days, hunting prey would be very suitable.

With a long spear in hand, Chen Wen let the Golden Eagle lead the way.

Considering the habits of the Argali, Chen Wen decisively activated the ”Gua Fragrance” entry.

At the same time, he put on his hat, and his camouflage clothing could reduce the likelihood of being detected by the prey.

After walking along the slope for about twenty minutes.

On the eastern side of the mountain, Chen Wen left his supplies on the ground.

He himself slowly crouched down, his eyes fixed on the prey in the distance.

Just as he anticipated, it was a herd of Argali.

The specific species was unclear, but it wasn’t the kind on the protected area list that couldn’t be hunted.

Therefore, Chen Wen slowly drew out his long spear.

Through his observation, this herd of Argali consisted of six, five adults and one juvenile.

Chen Wen’s target was one of the female Argali.

This Argali looked quite robust and was not small in size.

In the cold Qiangtang, if stored properly, just this one Argali would be enough for Chen Wen and the Golden Eagle to eat for a long time.

Therefore, Chen Wen grasped the long spear tightly and began to crawl forward, planning to launch an attack at a distance of about fifty meters from the Argali herd.

With the help of his camouflage clothing and the scent-masking entry, Chen Wen felt that the distance of fifty meters should not be difficult.

At this moment, the Argali were relaxing on a relatively gentle slope.

Argali are different from mountain goats.

Their bodies are larger, and their body structure also differs from that of mountain goats, making them unsuitable for moving on cliffs.

Therefore, many times they survive on the gentle slopes of mountains and avoid steep slopes when running away.

However, Argali also have their unique survival skills.

They have keen senses and, occupying high ground in open, gentle terrain, can easily detect surrounding dangers.

Also, when Argali rest, there will be a sentinel Argali responsible for surveying the surroundings.

As soon as there is danger, it immediately alerts the herd.

Therefore, just as Chen Wen made a move, the sentinel Argali was somewhat perplexed and looked over.

It clearly felt that something resembling a grass meadow had moved.

The alert Argali immediately let out a call, alerting the herd to look towards Chen Wen.

Noticing the movement of the Argali, Chen Wen couldn’t help but click his tongue secretly.

Are the perceptions of this group of Argali really that strong?

He was more than two hundred meters away from them!

And they discovered him directly?

Without time to think, he had to immediately curl up his body and disguise himself as a meadow.

After watching for a while, the Argali herd confirmed that Chen Wen posed no threat.

Soon, they shifted their attention to other things.

Seeing the actions of the Argali herd, Chen Wen couldn’t help but sigh.

Actively approaching for an attack seems unrealistic now.

He estimated the distance; even for him, there’s no way he could throw the long spear from this distance.

It looks like the hunting is going to end in failure.

Chen Wen thought.

But he wasn’t discouraged.

Since the obvious methods aren’t working, he won’t hesitate to use underhanded tactics.

Chen Wen planned to make another attempt today by having the Golden Eagle drive the Argali herd closer.

If that didn’t work, he would continue to linger nearby until late at night, transforming into small animals like the Jixiao to approach, then transform into predators like the Northeast Tiger or the North American Gray Wolf for a surprise attack.

He could even fly over the Argali herd, aim at a target, and immediately attack after transforming.

After killing an Argali, he would disguise it as having accidentally fallen off a cliff, giving the impression of a stroke of luck.

In this way, it would be quite perfect.

He would gain both the Argali’s attributes and meat without exposing his abilities.

As Chen Wen was thinking this, the Argali herd on the slope seemed to sense something and became agitated.

The Golden Eagle circling above observed clearly and alerted Chen Wen, ”Hey, it looks like we’re not the only ones eyeing the Argali herd. It seems there’s another creature targeting them, and this one doesn’t look easy to deal with either.”

Upon hearing the Golden Eagle’s reminder, Chen Wen quietly lifted his head to observe the Argali herd.

At this moment, the Argali herd was focused on the opposite direction from where Chen Wen was positioned, as if something over there had caught their attention, or even caused panic.

The sentinel Argali began to call out, warning the other members to avoid the threat.

Among them, a female Argali anxiously stood next to the juvenile, gently nudging it with her head, trying to get the juvenile to stand up.

Chen Wen could see that the juvenile was trying hard, but its movements remained somewhat awkward.

This was a newborn juvenile.

Chen Wen thought.

Most Argali juveniles are born in April, sometimes as late as May, and premature ones in March.

Although juveniles can move within hours after birth, it takes significant time for them to mature into individuals capable of escaping predators.

This little lamb lacked such time.

Soon, the predator from the other side might have gotten closer.

The sentinel Argali was the first to give up its position.

It let out a sharp call and decisively fled.

The original Argali herd seemed to attempt forming a defensive line with their large horns to resist the attacker.

But as soon as the first Argali started running, the plan fell apart.

The Argali herd began to flee.

The female Argali that tried to lift the juvenile with its horns appeared anxious, but had no other choice, ultimately deciding to abandon the juvenile and flee.

It seemed that the attacker could indeed kill the female Argali.

Chen Wen analyzed while hiding in the shadows.

But at that moment, possibly sensing a threat to its life or spurred by its mother leaving.

The unsteady Argali juvenile suddenly sprinted towards the female Argali.

Its movements were still a bit clumsy, but its speed wasn’t slow at all.

Hearing the juvenile catching up, the female Argali, moved by joy, slowed down a bit.

Once the juvenile caught up, it led the Argali juvenile to chase after the main group.

Chen Wen lifted his head again to take a look at the high ground.

But to his confusion, the animal threatening the Argali herd still hadn’t appeared.

So slow?

Could it be a blue bear or an injured predator?

After a brief consideration of the predator’s condition, Chen Wen put all other thoughts aside.

He focused on what lay ahead.

Because the Argali herd was escaping the predator, they didn’t choose to flee onto the steep mountain but instead towards Chen Wen’s direction.

The predator had incidentally provided Chen Wen with an excellent hunting opportunity.

Chen Wen fixed his gaze on his target, the female Argali running at the front of the Argali herd.

He slowly raised his long spear.

Although Chen Wen’s movement of raising the spear was not small, the Argali, in their frantic escape, didn’t have the attention to spare for noticing Chen Wen’s side.

This gave him a perfect opportunity for an attack.

Chen Wen slowly moved the spear’s tip, locking it on his target.

Once the Argali herd was within fifty meters of Chen Wen, he launched his attack fiercely.

”Swift Attack” enhanced his movements, ”Giant Strength” and ”Powerful Heart and Lungs” boosted his strength, and ”Thorn” increased his lethality.

The accumulation of all these enhancements made Chen Wen’s attack extremely sharp!

The long spear, like a silvery-white meteor, tore through the sparse highland air.

Target hit!
