Wilderness Survival with Druid System

The group of blue sheep was bewildered at the moment.

They had no idea where the attacker was, nor did they know what it was.

They only felt a strong gust of wind whistling towards them, hitting one of their members precisely, causing it to let out a painful whine, and the sound grew weaker and weaker.

The herd of blue sheep clearly realized that this companion was doomed!

Terrified, they avoided the direction from which the wind noise came and raced towards a slightly steeper cliff.

Taking advantage of the situation, Chen Wen stood up.

He watched the group of blue sheep disappear into the distance, deciding not to take further action.

At the same time, the young blue sheep, stimulated by the scent of blood and death, became increasingly steady in its steps.

”After this stimulation, this little lamb has fully matured,”

Chen Wen said as he retracted his gaze.

Just then, he noticed a creature that looked like a leopard with a gray-white body standing on the high ground previously occupied by the blue sheep.

However, its tail was longer and more robust.

The fur was very fluffy, making it appear plump.

Squinting his eyes, the name of the creature came to Chen Wen’s mind — Snow Leopard!

However, Chen Wen was somewhat puzzled.

Logically, a snow leopard is very fast and exceptionally agile. How could it possibly be so slow in its hunt for blue sheep?

The whole herd of blue sheep had already run far away, and it arrived so late?

While Chen Wen was pondering this, the snow leopard seemed to realize that its hunt was a complete failure.

It glanced at Chen Wen from afar, without any intention of coming over to contend for the prey.

After all, snow leopards do not actively attack humans unless provoked by them.

Even if humans have food, they won’t act impulsively.

After all, the difference in size is too great.

This snow leopard was a female and weighed no more than 40 kilograms at most.

In front of a human, it was just a comparatively large cat.

The snow leopard turned to leave.

However, just as it turned, Chen Wen keenly noticed something unusual about the snow leopard.

”The belly of this snow leopard... seems a bit large,”

Chen Wen murmured.

He recalled some information he had read—thanks to the survival challenges just beginning, Chen Wen remembered a lot of material clearly.

”The birthing period for snow leopards seems to be in May. Could it be that this snow leopard is pregnant?”

Chen Wen pondered and had the Golden Eagle fly over to take a look.

A moment later, the Golden Eagle returned: ”Indeed, human, your guess is correct. That creature’s belly is very large and droops heavily,”

Ah, so that’s it!

Chen Wen realized it was why the snow leopard’s movements were so slow.

This was a snow leopard about to give birth; its movements were affected, and speed and agility were significantly reduced.

Thus, it didn’t choose to hunt the animals it usually captured—nimble creatures like rock sheep and mountain goats—but rather opted for the relatively clumsy blue sheep.

More precisely, it was the young lamb that had only been in this world for a few days!

But unfortunately for the snow leopard, that young lamb was not destined to die.

Under the stimulus of life and death, it surprisingly managed to run away, escaping the snow leopard’s pursuit.

Thinking of this, Chen Wen shook his head.

If nothing else happens, this snow leopard would continue to seek new prey to hunt.

But in this situation, can it persist until that time?

Looking at the blue sheep he hunted, Chen Wen hesitated for a moment.

He initially planned to bring the entire blue sheep down the mountain and process it at the bottom.

But now...

Perhaps because of the snow leopard’s impending birth, Chen Wen felt compassion and chose to break down the blue sheep on the hillside.

He picked up a dagger and with one swift cut ended the blue sheep’s life.

Then Chen Wen took the dagger and skillfully skinned the blue sheep’s body.

While observing the blue sheep’s large head, Chen Wen contemplated and forcefully twisted it off.

He planned to take the blue sheep’s head down the mountain and use its brain for simple tanning of the leather.

Afterward, Chen Wen carved out a large portion of the blue sheep’s meat and also took its heart.

Once all this was done,

Chen Wen left the remaining smaller portion of meat and viscera behind.

The scent of blood would lure the snow leopard back to assess the situation.

If it saw that some of the blue sheep was left behind by Chen Wen, it would definitely come over to eat the remaining meat and viscera.

These bits might not be much, but they were enough to sustain the snow leopard for a few more days.

Chen Wen wrapped the meat he planned to take in sheepskin.

He formed the sheepskin into a bundle and hung it on his long spear, carrying it as he departed from the area.

...

Just as Chen Wen had anticipated.

About half an hour after he left,

the snow leopard, due for birthing, returned.

It stood on the high ground, peering in this direction from afar.

Once it confirmed that Chen Wen was gone, the snow leopard quickly approached.

It tread cautiously, turning back every few steps, fearful of an ambush.

The distance of about two hundred meters took the snow leopard several minutes to cover.

If Chen Wen were here, he would surely award it a Best Actor Award.

But eventually, the snow leopard arrived at the blue sheep’s remains.

Seeing the viscera and meat left deliberately by Chen Wen, the snow leopard eagerly approached and started devouring the blue sheep’s fat-laden insides.

Unlike humans, snow leopards don’t care much about hygiene or similar matters.

It focused on the blue sheep’s intestines, eating in large bites.

At the same time, a curious premonition arose in the snow leopard.

If it continued following that two-legged creature, it might obtain more food, who knows?

As a young female snow leopard, it sensed that it would require a lot of prey in the upcoming period.

If prey was insufficient, something bad would definitely happen.

With this idea in mind and curiosity about this strange two-legged creature,

After consuming most of the viscera and fragments of meat, the snow leopard followed the scent left by Chen Wen—tracing the aroma of the blue sheep’s flesh and blood, slowly making its way down the mountain.

...

The altitude was around five thousand meters.

About a thousand meters from Qiangtang.

Chen Wen, gazing at the cliff before him, felt a sense of existential doubt.

He initially planned to use the day to reach the base of the cliff.

But something happened that Chen Wen didn’t anticipate; his path seemed to deviate from the planned route, bringing him to the top of a steep cliff instead of a gentle slope as expected.

Cautiously edging towards the precipice, Chen Wen glanced down below.

High!

Very high!

Incredibly high!

A vertical drop of nearly two hundred meters!

If he accidentally slipped and fell, apart from turning into a bird, he couldn’t think of another way to survive.

”Forget it, I’ll rest for a while and find another way down. This place... is absolutely impassable!”

Chen Wen retreated from the cliff’s edge, sat down on the ground, and began resting.

While Chen Wen was resting, the Golden Eagle descended too.

Chen Wen took out the blue sheep meat, slicing it into strips to feed the Golden Eagle.

After a hearty meal, the Golden Eagle contentedly flapped its wings.

Feeling sufficiently rested, Chen Wen stood up once more, ready to set off.

He planned to bypass the cliff and search for a gentler route to descend the mountain.

After walking along the cliff for several tens of minutes, the terrain ahead began to slope gradually.

Delighted by this sight, Chen Wen quickened his pace, and after roughly another hour of walking, he reached a much gentler slope.

Here, Chen Wen discovered a gentle path leading down the mountain.

He quickened his pace, reaching the base of the cliff by the afternoon.

Though he was still on the mountain, he was significantly closer to the ground of Qiangtang.

Chen Wen estimated that he only needed an afternoon to arrive fully in Qiangtang.
