Wilderness Survival with Druid System

After a while, Wuge distributed the cooked saltwater crocodile meat to everyone.

With the delicacies in front of him, Chen Wen was no longer nervous.

He casually picked up two sticks to use as chopsticks and picked up a piece of saltwater crocodile meat.

The meat of this saltwater crocodile was quite firm, but it seemed that there was a spice in Wuge’s seasoning that softened the meat.

Just cooking for such a short while, the saltwater crocodile’s meat became quite tender, and there was no problem with chewing at all.

Moreover, the main flavor of the spices was spicy.

The spicy aroma really whetted Chen Wen’s appetite.

After finishing a piece of saltwater crocodile meat, Chen Wen decisively gave Wuge a thumbs up — this uncle knows his stuff!

Uncle Wuge was very happy to see that Chen Wen enjoyed his cooking.

He bared his teeth, revealing a very friendly smile.

Chen Wen finished eating the saltwater crocodile meat and closed his eyes to check the crocodile’s entry in his mind.

The entry from this saltwater crocodile wasn’t top-notch, but it was pretty good, especially for transformation purposes.

[Biting force (Purple): Increases your biting force, which depends on your current body size]

This entry isn’t top-notch for Chen Wen or some small animals.

But if Chen Wen transforms into a large-sized animal, the effect would be quite significant.

After choosing the entry, Chen Wen continued eating the saltwater crocodile meat.

The tasty saltwater crocodile meat, for Chen Wen who hadn’t eaten flavorful food for a long time, was a supreme delicacy!

...

After eating, Chen Wen and the others started looking for the saltwater crocodile that appeared at noon.

This time, Chen Wen was left alone on the shore, along with all the supplies of Tata and the others.

Since the saltwater crocodile might be in the nearby waters, Tata had to focus 100% on dealing with this crocodile.

Therefore, the three crocodile hunters entrusted their supplies to Chen Wen while they carried fish spears to search for the saltwater crocodile’s tracks.

Chen Wen watched from the shore as the three of them paddled a canoe, constantly searching the water’s surface for signs of the saltwater crocodile.

He felt a little worried.

After all, the canoe looked only about five to six meters long.

If it really was a seven-meter saltwater crocodile, it could easily overturn the canoe during a rampage.

However, what Chen Wen worried about did not happen.

Tata and the others searched the nearby waters all afternoon but only found some remnants of animals that seemed to have been eaten by the saltwater crocodile.

Among them were fish and some bodies that looked like some kind of mammal, and Tata even found a freshwater crocodile that had been half-eaten.

The time quickly approached evening.

Tata and the others sat cross-legged on the shore, staring at these things with both tension and hesitation in their eyes.

Chen Wen felt the same way.

The reason was simple: if this saltwater crocodile was the monster that caused the attack.

Then after eating a young human, and even some livestock.

It wouldn’t start hunting again so soon.

Because saltwater crocodiles, being cold-blooded reptiles, like their relatives, the Nile crocodiles.

Can fast for months or even close to a year after a good meal without needing to hunt!

And the fact that this saltwater crocodile was still maintaining such a strong appetite after a feast was very unreasonable.

Chen Wen rubbed his chin and voiced his guess: ”I feel like this might not be your target, but another giant adult saltwater crocodile!”

This guess was exactly what Tata and the others were thinking.

Tata nodded in agreement and said, ”That’s what I think too. Since this saltwater crocodile isn’t our target, we shouldn’t waste time here.”

Uncle Wuge said a few words in the local dialect, to which Tata and Darren nodded.

Then Tata translated Uncle Wuge’s words for Chen Wen.

Uncle Wuge expressed very clearly: ”Saltwater crocodiles have a strong territorial consciousness, if there’s a saltwater crocodile lord here, it wouldn’t allow another crocodile lord to get close, so we shouldn’t waste time here. We need to continue looking downstream, the killer saltwater crocodile might be between this area and the river section where the town is located.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen nodded to Uncle Wuge in agreement.

He also agreed with him.

Since they determined the direction, they decided to continue searching downstream without delay.

However, it was already late by then.

Tata had no intention of continuing immediately.

He led everyone to a place next to the woods and took out something like a hammock.

Tata explained: ”We have to rest in the wilderness tonight, but we absolutely cannot stay on the ground; it’s very dangerous at night!”

But as he spoke, Tata felt he might be explaining unnecessarily.

After all, Chen Wen in front of him was someone who had crossed the Kimberley Plateau during the rainy season, telling him this was like displaying a sword in front of a master swordsman.

However, Chen Wen still smiled and thanked Tata for the reminder.

Then he took the animals to a nearby clearing to rest.

The terrain was open here, making it better for Dahuang and the Screaming Kite to keep a lookout.

As usual, Chen Wen lit a bonfire and activated [Insect Repellent] to maintain peace and comfort on their side.

...

Time ticked by second by second.

It was a cloudy night with stars and the moon obscured by clouds, leaving the wilderness in complete darkness.

Chen Wen, holding his long spear, was already resting early.

After all, they had more traveling ahead the next day.

Meanwhile, Dahuang and the Screaming Kite took turns watching the night, one covering the first half and the other the second half.

However, during dinner, Chen Wen had fed Dahuang a lot of saltwater crocodile meat.

A full-bellied Dahuang lay at Chen Wen’s feet, drowsiness overtaking him.

Yawning, it didn’t notice a massive beast slowly crawling onto the shore from the nearby riverbank not far from them.

This beast was the saltwater crocodile that appeared at noon!

It slowly came ashore.

The saltwater crocodile, a top predator surviving since the era of dinosaurs with little change.

Naturally has a strong perception ability.

With its nostrils located above its snout, it can easily detect the smell of blood or carrion from several kilometers away, especially sensitive to animal body fluids and pheromones.

Thus, it effortlessly sensed the resting wild horse.

A prey it had long set its eyes on!

As the dominant force in these waters, this saltwater crocodile was not as glamorous as outsiders imagined.

In fact, in the absence of large prey.

This water-dwelling tyrant had to maintain a high frequency of hunting to satisfy its appetite.

As for why it didn’t change to a more food-rich area.

The saltwater crocodile indicated that fulfilling other desires required staying, as there were many female saltwater crocodiles nearby during this breeding season.

This place could be described as the New York of the saltwater crocodile kingdom — priceless!

Therefore, to ensure both reproduction and satisfaction of hunger.

The saltwater crocodile showed a strong hunting desire for the large prey it had discovered.

This moonless, starless night presented a perfect opportunity for an ambush!

With such intentions, it came to the riverbank.

Fixing its gaze on its prey, the saltwater crocodile crawled cautiously.

Its excellent sense of smell allowed it to pinpoint the prey’s approximate location, and its eyes rich in rod cells could capture the prey’s outline in the dark.

As a result, this stealthy hunter quickly locked onto the position of the wild horse.

Its pace instinctively quickened, intending to tear the sleeping wild horse apart.

But at that moment, an even stealthier Chen Wen suddenly opened his eyes wide!
