Wilderness Survival with Druid System

”Have you been injured?”

Chen Wen extended his hand, signaling the Snow Leopard to stretch its leg over.

He gently felt the Snow Leopard’s right hind leg: ”It feels like...a fracture?”

The Snow Leopard didn’t know what a fracture meant, it just said: ”After I was injured, I felt like my body wasn’t mine anymore. Walking was difficult, and I couldn’t catch prey, but I met some two-legged creatures. They fed me and helped treat my injuries; it took a long time before I recovered.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen nodded slightly.

Probably because of this experience, the Snow Leopard became more trusting of humans.

Chen Wen nodded: ”Although I don’t know where those people you mentioned are now, if you follow me, I’ll definitely help you.”

Upon hearing this, the Snow Leopard excitedly circled Chen Wen twice.

Looking at the Snow Leopard’s heavy belly, Chen Wen couldn’t help but say: ”You’re about to give birth; why are you still wandering around outside?”

Upon hearing this, the Snow Leopard was a bit perplexed: Give birth?

What is that?

After Chen Wen patiently explained, the Snow Leopard finally understood its situation with some panic.

It did have a nest, but it was high up in the mountains.

Far from here.

Moreover, this Snow Leopard had mediocre hunting abilities and wasn’t in the habit of storing food.

Because of this, before giving birth, it was still roaming the mountains looking for prey.

If it weren’t for Chen Wen, it might have given birth on an empty stomach.

Seeing the Snow Leopard’s silly look, Chen Wen decided to say: ”How about this, you follow me first. When I descend, I’ll find a temporary shelter; you can stay with me, and I’ll set up a small nest for you.”

Upon hearing Chen Wen’s suggestion, the Snow Leopard happily nuzzled Chen Wen’s palm, indicating its agreement with his arrangement.

And at this moment, Chen Wen also gained the Snow Leopard’s recognition.

[You have gained a friend’s recognition, please extract the entries prepared by your friend]

[Your friend—the Snow Leopard, has prepared a gift for you]

[Extracting... Extraction complete!]

[Please choose one of the following three entries]

[Highland Ghost (Gold): More adapted to high-altitude environments, movements become sharper, and less visible]

[Note: What is this? — Snow Leopard]

[Cliff Dancer (Gold): Cliffs and precipices will not obstruct you; movements on cliffs and precipices become more agile, with greatly enhanced balance ability]

[Note: Amazing! — Snow Leopard]

[Ambush (Gold): When ambushing prey, less likely to be detected, and the speed of attacks will be faster]

[Note: Wu Wu! — Snow Leopard]

The entries prepared by the Snow Leopard are indeed top-notch!

Looking at the three gleaming entries, Chen Wen couldn’t help but think.

Among the three entries, [Ambush] was the first one ruled out by Chen Wen.

He didn’t really need that entry, as his library already contained similar ones, and this time he also carried a similar entry [Gua Fragrance].

The remaining two entries were both pretty good.

Moreover, considering the possibility of taking the Snow Leopard away, the entry should be returned to it after this survival challenge.

The selected entry just needs to be useful for this survival challenge; its long-term effects don’t need considering.

After thinking it over, Chen Wen finally chose [Highland Ghost], the more comprehensive entry.

Adapting to the environment, sharp movements, less noticeable.

Very comprehensive.

Also, once descending, the [Cliff Dancer] entry would almost serve no purpose.

Choosing it really wouldn’t be advantageous.

Ultimately, Chen Wen chose [Highland Ghost] as the second entry for this survival challenge.

With the less noticeable characteristic of this entry, coupled with the scent masking of [Gua Fragrance].

The hunting this time should be easy.

After selecting the entry, Chen Wen casually enabled a communication ability for the Snow Leopard: ”Alright, let’s go. By the way, when the Golden Eagle returns, you can chat with it too.”

Speaking of the Golden Eagle, Chen Wen looked into the distance.

He could vaguely see the Golden Eagle continuously diving, unsure whether it was intimidating marmots or hunting them.

Whatever, I’ll deal with it later after descending the mountain!

...

For the final stretch, Chen Wen had the Snow Leopard walk beside him.

This way, even if two wolves tried to return, they couldn’t possibly harm the Snow Leopard in front of Chen Wen.

Under Chen Wen’s protection, the man and leopard cautiously crossed the wolves’ territory, thoroughly leaving the mountain behind.

On the afternoon of the third survival day, Chen Wen successfully brought the Snow Leopard down the mountain, arriving at the Qiangtang Plateau.

It marked a formal separation from the starting point’s influence and a return to actual survival.

For Chen Wen, the harvest from these two days was quite decent.

He obtained a wild sheep and tamed a special animal, the Snow Leopard, along with acquiring two entries and another one not yet obtained.

The price paid, well, was a slight hunger.

But with most of the wild sheep’s meat in hand, and with the Golden Eagle and Snow Leopard’s scouting abilities on the plateau...

This price could almost be considered negligible.

After descending, the Golden Eagle also flew back.

Chen Wen checked it out, noticing that the creature had no bloodstains on it, indicating it was probably intimidating rather than hunting the marmots just now.

As to whether the marmots were terrified, Chen Wen didn’t know, but the Golden Eagle was quite happy.

Upon returning and seeing the Snow Leopard, the Golden Eagle curiously circled around it, and Chen Wen informed the Golden Eagle about the Snow Leopard’s ability to communicate.

The Golden Eagle was inherently outgoing.

It proactively approached the Snow Leopard and engaged in conversation.

Before long, the two animals were able to coexist harmoniously.

And Chen Wen, at this time, wasn’t focusing on their situation; he was busy observing the surroundings.

According to Chen Wen’s plan, it was now time to search for shelter.

Early on, he had to survive for fifty days on the plateau, and during these fifty days, Chen Wen needed to find a sturdy shelter.

Meanwhile, he had to store enough food for the remaining days, ensuring he had enough energy and stamina to head to the ultimate battleground—this somewhat pretentious name was coined in Chen Wen’s mind.

So this shelter search was crucial.

It couldn’t be compromised.

Chen Wen looked around; within sight, there was not a single tree, and there weren’t even many plants.

”It’s so barren!”

He sighed.

Trees on the Qiangtang Plateau were extremely sparse, seen only in some valleys, and some special areas with artificial forests.

The remaining vegetation comprised grasslands or low shrubs.

This survival challenge would likely have to rely primarily on meat.

Chen Wen thought to himself.

Moreover, without wood, there was no fuel or building material.

Next, he had to collect dung in regions where animals congregated; the dung of sheep and cattle on the plateau could be used as fuel.

Though there would be quite a bit of smoke, it was better than nothing.

In addition, choosing a location for the shelter was also crucial.

Chen Wen was currently contemplating suitable places for a shelter.
