Regarding the choice of shelter, Chen Wen listed a few requirements in his mind.

First, it can’t be too far from a water source, otherwise fetching water would be very difficult and troublesome.

Without containers, and without finding clay, the method of making containers isn’t feasible for now.

So, the only way is to use a water bottle to collect water, then boil it with a pot.

Moreover, the air pressure is low on the plateau, which means the boiling point is also lower.

Without a clean water source, the first fifty days would be tough to endure.

Secondly, it has to be safe enough.

There are many dangerous animals on the plateau, such as the blue bear mentioned before, wolves that have just attacked, the ubiquitous wild dogs, and wild yaks.

In the situation where Chen Wen is unprepared, these animals could deprive Chen Wen of the ability to continue the challenge.

The premise is being completely unguarded.

So the shelter has to be made safer, not exposed under the noses of these animals, allowing them to easily breach the shelter’s defenses.

Lastly, the shelter cannot be too small.

The golden eagle and snow leopard will both need their own small nests, and Chen Wen feels he may need to continue taming more animals.

So, the place can’t be too small, or it won’t accommodate that many animals.

Thinking about these conditions, Chen Wen couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.

Damn, it feels like I’m going to be busy with a lot of things this time!

Anyway, let’s first take a walk and look around, at least find a temporary base, and grill some bighorn sheep meat to eat tonight.

Chen Wen picked up the long spear and knocked on the ground, catching the attention of the snow leopard and the golden eagle.

”Next, we need to keep moving forward.”

Chen Wen said, looking at the golden eagle: ”You are responsible for finding a suitable place from high up, prepare for the night’s rest, try to find a bigger, safer place closer to water.”

Upon hearing this, the golden eagle wanted to roll its eyes: Aren’t the requirements a bit too much!

But it nodded from its heart: ”Alright, I’ll see, try to find one.”

After the golden eagle left, Chen Wen looked at the snow leopard again.

Truth be told, Chen Wen felt a bit guilty making the snow leopard work, but given the circumstances, Chen Wen had no choice but to ask the snow leopard for help.

”If it’s convenient, please help me sniff around for any animal droppings nearby, like sheep or cow droppings, later I’ll find some animal droppings to get you familiar with their scent.”

This task didn’t consume any physical strength, and the snow leopard was happy to help Chen Wen out.

It nodded excitedly, feeling like it was becoming an integral part of Chen Wen’s group.

Seeing this, Chen Wen didn’t say more.

He led the snow leopard, heading east.

...

On the desolate plateau, the view was extremely open.

After walking about a hundred meters, Chen Wen clearly saw a herd of antelopes slowly heading north, five hundred meters away.

Are they Tibetan antelopes? Or Tibetan gazelles?

Chen Wen couldn’t see clearly.

But he was sure that those antelopes definitely saw him.

They seemed curious, standing far away, looking over here.

But seeing that Chen Wen made no moves, they continued to leave.

”Judging by the time, it’s indeed their migration and breeding time, better not get close.”

Chen Wen shook his head.

To the south, Chen Wen also spotted some clusters of black shadows, or rather black dots.

They were likely yaks, but the distance was too far, Chen Wen couldn’t see clearly.

”In such a place, finding the perfect shelter location is really quite difficult!”

Chen Wen shook his head helplessly.

And just as Chen Wen withdrew his gaze, he suddenly noticed what seemed to be some stone structures ahead.

What is that?

Chen Wen squinted to take a look, but he couldn’t see clearly.

Forget it, let’s go over and have a look.

Chen Wen led the snow leopard, quickening his pace towards the stone structures.

Before long, he arrived close to them.

This pile was built with rather large stones, the base was very solid, likely not naturally formed, but made by humans.

He reached out to touch the stones.

There was quite a bit of dust accumulated on them, indicating they had been piled up for some time.

However, the stones were not crumbling, but solid, indicating it was not too old, probably piled here in recent years.

Regarding the name of this thing, Chen Wen had some idea.

This is called a Mani Stone Heap in the Tibetan Area.

They come in different sizes, with various forms, and serve different purposes.

Some Mani Stone Heaps are carved with Buddha images or inscriptions, made by believers for blessings, while others have nothing, simply piled by passersby as a form of blessing as well.

But in the association materials that Chen Wen had read, the association recorded a third kind of Mani Stone Heap.

This type of Mani Stone Heap is very sturdy, with no inscriptions or patterns, appearing to be casually stacked by passersby.

But in reality, these Mani Stone Heaps are stacked by herders to mark locations.

For instance, beside some pastures, herders use Mani Stone Heaps to indicate boundaries.

The Mani Stone Heap before him was most likely of the type used by nomadic herders to mark positions.

As Chen Wen contemplated the Mani Stone Heap.

The snow leopard also curiously examined the Mani Stone Heap, with thoughts and memories flashing in its eyes now and then.

A moment later, just when Chen Wen thought this thing probably had no further use.

The snow leopard excitedly said: ”Humans! I found a clue!”

Hearing the snow leopard’s voice suddenly, Chen Wen was slightly startled.

He looked at the suddenly excited snow leopard and couldn’t resist asking: ”A clue? What clue?”

”The clue about the humans who helped me!”

The snow leopard started spinning around excitedly.

After a few spins, it continued: ”I still remember the situation back then. I had come down from the mountain injured and was picked up here!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen couldn’t help but hiss: ”Right here? Do you remember when that was?”

The snow leopard pondered: ”A long, long time ago, the sun has risen and set many, many times.”

Great, it seems the snow leopard has no sense of time.

Chen Wen had spent plenty of breaks teaching the animals the concept of time.

Right then, Chen Wen thought of something: ”Do you remember where the people who helped you took you for treatment?”

Hearing this, the snow leopard paced a few steps, biting its tail, trying hard to recall the scenes from then.

Soon.

The snow leopard seemed to recall something: ”Not very far, I remember a fairly large tent, it had a bit of a smell, hmm, I don’t quite remember the specific scent.”

”Do you still know where their tent is?”

Chen Wen asked.

Typically, when herders migrate, the places they camp are quite decent.

If he really can’t find the shelter he envisions.

Camping at the herders’ place wouldn’t be bad either.

At this moment, the snow leopard recalled many things, it quickly said: ”Yes, not far, just in the nearby valley!”

A valley?

Chen Wen’s eyes lit up.

This could be a great place!

”Can you find that valley?”

Chen Wen asked.

The snow leopard nodded: ”I can!”

”Let’s go have a look!”

Chen Wen got up excitedly, letting the snow leopard lead the way to the valley.

He really hadn’t expected to get critical intelligence about a shelter from the snow leopard.

Looks like his luck might be on the rise!

Chen Wen couldn’t help but think.
