The golden eagle flew to Chen Wen’s side at this time.

It looked at Chen Wen, and after confirming that he wasn’t injured, it began to cheer excitedly.

Chen Wen got up, hoisted his black pot onto his back, and observed his surroundings once more.

They were still above the snow line, but the road ahead was full of very gentle snow slopes, making it much easier to traverse.

After observing the snow for a while, Chen Wen closed his eyes and rubbed them.

”Damn, the sunlight is too intense, reflecting off the snow and shining into my eyes. It’s really uncomfortable! If I keep staring at the snow like this, snow blindness is bound to occur.”

Chen Wen muttered while unloading his backpack, intending to find something suitable to relieve snow blindness.

Snow blindness is a temporary inflammatory eye condition caused by the prolonged exposure of the eyes to strong light and ultraviolet rays, burning the corneal epithelium.

This condition is common among people who walk long distances in snow fields without protective eyewear, stare at UV lamps for prolonged periods, or engage in welding work.

Right now, Chen Wen was in an environment that could cause severe snow blindness.

After searching the backpack for a while, Chen Wen took out a piece of clothing.

Hmm.

These were boxer shorts, absolutely unworn and brand new.

After examining the shorts, Chen Wen made a decision.

But before doing the task, he had to explain to the camera, as many were certainly following his journey, and many were acquaintances!

He couldn’t let them misunderstand!

Chen Wen produced the boxer shorts and said, ”These are brand new, completely unworn shorts, very clean. Look, you can even see folding marks, showing they’re definitely new!”

”Now, to combat snow blindness, I’m planning to turn these shorts into something like sunglasses, securing them around my eyes to reduce the impact of sunlight and radiation using their dark color.”

As he spoke, Chen Wen felt his face flush rare embarrassment.

He folded the shorts simply and attempted to fix the leg holes in front of his eyes to see the way ahead.

If only there were more suitable tools around...

Chen Wen cleared his throat and was about to act when.

The golden eagle, which had been circling and observing the surroundings, seemed to have made a discovery.

It squawked loudly, conveying a message to Chen Wen.

”Chen Wen! I’ve spotted something! It looks like an animal carcass, with fur and bones!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen’s eyes lit up.

He stuffed the shorts back into his bag and hurried through the snow towards the direction indicated by the golden eagle.

...

After walking several dozen meters.

Chen Wen saw the animal carcass the golden eagle mentioned.

It wasn’t far from him.

However, most of the carcass was covered by snow, so Chen Wen couldn’t clearly see it.

As he got closer, Chen Wen reached out and dragged the carcass from the snow.

After roughly identifying its species, Chen Wen squinted.

This thing resembles...

It looks like a kind of rock sheep or similar species, but its horns aren’t very large, suggesting it’s female.

This animal died miserably.

It was probably hunted by a carnivore; its flesh was already hollowed out, the bones bleached white, indicating it had been dead for quite some time.

Its fur was frozen, dry, and stiff.

Chen Wen tapped on it, and it felt like he was knocking on stone.

”This thing can be processed.”

Chen Wen muttered, pulling out a dagger.

This was one of the five pieces of equipment he carried; the other four were a canteen, food (3x portable military rations), rope, and a fire starter.

Once he had the dagger out, Chen Wen began to cut the sheep hide.

Using his body heat, he softened the hide a bit, then cut off a long strip.

Then he used the dagger to carve a small hole slightly left of the center of the sheep hide.

When he fitted this small hole to his left eye, the blinding white sunlight eased into a gentler brightness.

It worked!

Chen Wen chuckled, decisively carved another small hole on the opposite side so his right eye could also see outside.

”Nice, this thing can certainly replace the shorts, ahem, replace sunglasses!”

Chen Wen wrapped the sheep hide around the outside of his hat, securing the small holes.

Though it partly obstructed his view, it minimized the stinging pain sunlight inflicted on his eyes.

Absolutely perfect!

With the sheep hide eyepatch on, Chen Wen continued searching through the animal carcass.

While he didn’t find any meat, he did locate a large thigh bone in nearby snowdrifts.

”Whoa-ho! A thigh bone! Such luck!”

Chen Wen exclaimed in a playful tone, picking up the thigh bone.

This thing was frozen solid, hard as a rock!

Very handy as a hammer.

Plus, the feel is perfect!

After swinging the thigh bone a few times, Chen Wen stored it away too.

In this survival outing, he only carried limited tools, just a dagger and a long spear.

Therefore, he definitely wouldn’t pass up the thigh bone, which could serve as a hammer.

The remaining bones were either significantly broken or unsuitable shapes; Chen Wen surveyed them but eventually decided against taking any more bones.

...

After harvesting the bones, Chen Wen moved on.

Meanwhile, the discovery of these bones made Chen Wen aware that there should be medium to large hunters around the snow line capable of hunting rock sheep.

If it was a snow leopard or wolves, they wouldn’t pose much threat to Chen Wen.

Plus, upon seeing humans, these animals typically choose to avoid rather than approach.

But if it was a blue bear, then it would be a bit dangerous.

Blue bears, also known as Tibetan brown bears or Tibetan Horse Bears, are a subspecies of the brown bear.

Their relatives, of course, rank among the most powerful terrestrial predators.

As members of the brown bear family, blue bears are naturally not to be trifled with.

These massive creatures are about two meters in length with shoulder width reaching one meter; the largest of them weighs close to 400 kilograms; even young ones are far heavier than humans.

They’re robust and fierce, with enormous strength.

In many videos of tourism in Zang Province, some bloggers capture them at night.

The blue bears surviving near towns seem not to pose much danger, generally showing a mild demeanor.

This phenomenon is the result of their extended survival near townships.

If encountering a blue bear in the wild or uninhabited areas, it’s best to stay extremely alert, remaining in your vehicle if possible.

But Chen Wen had no vehicle, only a long spear.

Plus, this season wasn’t ideal.

Blue bears, like most brown bears, live solitary lives and have a hibernation habit.

They start hibernating from late October or early November, lasting until around April of the following year.

Now was the time for the blue bears who had slept all winter to come out for hunting.

Starved all through the winter, the blue bears had glowing eyes of hunger.

Anything alive appearing before them now would certainly not escape their hunt.

Even more so humans, who seem like a feast of a kind.

If a blue bear woke up early, Chen Wen would be in real trouble.

As the saying goes, well-fed and warm leads to desires.

After feasting, every May through June is also their mating season.

In the combined state of hunger and mating urges, the blue bears are at their most aggressive and impatient time of year.

Even Chen Wen preferred not to provoke blue bears during this period.
