Wilderness Survival with Druid System

After arriving at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Chen Wen immediately sensed something unusual.

It was altitude sickness.

However, Chen Wen hasn’t activated any entries yet; he’s simply feeling the intensity of altitude sickness with his own body.

Truth be told, the intensity is rather average.

Of course, this is thanks to Chen Wen’s outstanding physical fitness.

He took a deep breath and activated an entry—[Powerful Cardiopulmonary].

This was an entry acquired from a wild horse in Australia.

The effect of this entry is to enhance cardiovascular and pulmonary capacity.

But at the plateau, this entry has an additional effect—relieving altitude sickness.

With enhanced lungs, Chen Wen is able to acquire more oxygen, thus alleviating altitude sickness.

After activating this entry.

Chen Wen took another deep breath, sensing the difference between before and after.

It was really significant!

He nodded in satisfaction and looked at Liu Yu beside him.

Despite his age, Liu Yu’s physical fitness is also quite good.

At this moment, he is smiling at Chen Wen, saying, ”How is it? Feeling any altitude sickness?”

Chen Wen grinned: ”Don’t worry, being here feels just like home!”

As he spoke, behind Chen Wen.

Two assistants, Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang, couldn’t help but laugh.

Wow, we haven’t even left the airport yet, and our player is already boasting.

However, four hours later, the two assistants realized what Chen Wen meant by feeling like home.

...

The group traveled by car to the monitoring base of the Desert Extreme Challenge.

As soon as the car door opened, Chen Wen energetically stepped out and greeted Mr. Qu, the former vice president, who was waiting here.

”Mr. Qu, long time no see, I didn’t expect we’d trouble you to help us this time.”

Chen Wen smiled and shook Mr. Qu’s hand.

Mr. Qu looked at the spirited Chen Wen, a sense of admiration flashing in his eyes.

Back when Chen Wen was learning survival skills from him, Mr. Qu felt that Chen Wen would surely achieve success in wilderness survival.

Now it seems his foresight wasn’t wrong!

Presently, Chen Wen can indeed be hailed as the number one wilderness survival expert in the country!

”Chen Wen, not bad!”

Mr. Qu said, craning his head to look into the car: ”Where’s Mr. Liu? Haven’t seen him around?”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen showed a somewhat embarrassed expression: ”Ahem, Mr. Liu he...”

While Chen Wen was speaking.

From the rear of the car, as the door was feebly pushed open by someone.

Liu Yu emerged with a pale face.

He opened his mouth but couldn’t speak; he couldn’t help but retch.

”Whoa, what’s going on?”

Seeing Liu Yu’s condition, Mr. Qu knowingly asked, with a benevolent smile on his face.

Liu Yu waved his hand, inevitably saying: ”My body indeed... isn’t what it used to be! Even experienced altitude sickness.”

Saying so, Liu Yu retched once more.

At that moment, the driver got off the car and handed Liu Yu a portable oxygen cylinder, allowing him some relief.

Subsequently, the accompanying two assistants, Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang, also descended the car with pale faces.

The two were also affected by altitude sickness.

Flying from an area with hardly any altitude to a place over 4000 meters above sea level without rest, they sat in a car for four hours to reach the monitoring base.

Continuous travel intensified the altitude sickness considerably.

Because of this, Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang experienced significantly severe altitude sickness.

Seeing the embarrassing state of the three, Mr. Qu did not tease Liu Yu any further.

Instead, he arranged for their rest.

As for Chen Wen, energetically, there was no possibility of him resting.

Mr. Qu directly led him to his office.

...

”There’s a bit of an issue with this Desert Extreme Challenge.”

On the way, Mr. Qu looked at Chen Wen by his side and said in a low voice, ”There are very few participants!”

Chen Wen turned slightly toward Mr. Qu’s side and nodded, saying, ”Yes, I heard from Hua Yun too about the Desert Extreme Challenge curse, so naturally the first time won’t have many participants.”

Mr. Qu made an acknowledging sound and continued, ”Whether the curse is real or not, I’m not sure, but this survival event has indeed been influenced by the rumors.”

”There are very few participants this time; on our side, it’s just you alone; the rest are four teams, namely the United Kingdom’s second team, Australia’s second team, and one team each from Nepal and India.”

Four teams, quite fewer compared to the Desert Extreme Challenge’s teams.

”Among these four teams, there’s no need to worry about the United Kingdom and Australia’s second teams; these two teams don’t have any experts, only the two individuals leading them have completed two previous challenges.”

”Conversely, attention must be paid to the seeded player in the Indian team, named Vikram. His background is somewhat obscure, but it’s confirmed that he should be a former elite mercenary from some country.”

”Nepal’s team is actually just this one team; the captain is a Sherpa named Nuo Bu, someone to be cautious of too. He was previously a mountain guide, climbing Mount Everest, and is quite proficient in plateau survival. This person broke records, surviving on the plateau for thirty days with nothing.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen’s expression became severe.

Not to mention, he had heard of that Indian guy’s name before.

Previously, he heard Adam mention that the Indians have sent out an expert this time.

The expert Adam referred to was Vikram.

As for Nuo Bu, solely based on the Sherpa identity, he deserves vigilance from Chen Wen.

Sherpas, a race living near the Himalayas.

They primarily reside within Nepal, but some Sherpas also live in Hua Country.

The most famous Sherpa is Danzeng Norgay.

He, along with Edmund Hillary, was the first to summit Mount Everest.

Because Sherpas live near the Himalayas, they also make the best guides for climbing Everest.

If compared solely on plateau and mountainous survival, every Sherpa guide’s prowess is certainly on par with Chen Wen!

Chen Wen took a deep breath to calm himself down: ”Then which aspect exactly is affected in this survival?”

Next to him, Mr. Qu glanced at Chen Wen before saying: ”There’re fewer people. In the end, to attain victory, they would band together to eliminate those alone, and you.”

Mr. Qu pointed at the flag on Chen Wen’s chest: ”As Hua Country’s sole participant and the strongest contestant, unequivocally, you’d be the first one to be targeted!”

With Mr. Qu’s prompt, Chen Wen also realized this fact.

As a lone wolf, aiming at eliminating others and completing the Desert Extreme Challenge, he must face multiple adversaries alone.

Right at this moment, Mr. Qu lowered his voice further: ”Need me to provide contacts for the United Kingdom and Australia? If you were to team up, they would likely be quite willing to join forces with you.”

Chen Wen shook his head: ”Forget it, we aren’t familiar, without any intermediary introducing us, I can’t trust them.”

Mr. Qu thought it over, and this reasoning made sense too.

In the absence of a trust foundation, partnering with complete strangers truly isn’t as dependable as surviving alone.

After all, no one can ensure, once reaching the late stage of survival, that encountering the opposite party wouldn’t result in them teaming up to eliminate Chen Wen for a ticket to the challenge completion.

Thus, Mr. Qu no longer raised this subject.
