Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chen Wen cut the sheep meat into strips for easier roasting and cooking later.

Then he tore open a pack of military rations.

Chen Wen was very careful not to break the packaging bag, only opening a small opening at the top.

This survival lacked tools, and he had to find ways to utilize everything possible.

After collecting the packaging bag, Chen Wen looked at the pile of items in front of him.

These are common military rations, judging by the label, it seems to be the foreign type.

There are many small packaging bags inside, Chen Wen casually picked one up and glanced at the text on the bag.

”Nut chocolate? This stuff is good, let’s save it for later.”

Chen Wen said as he continued to sort through it.

He picked up the remaining small packages, glanced at them, and made simple groupings.

”This pile is for non-edible fuel and some utensils, this pile is for snacks and seasonings like nuts, chocolate, energy bars, gum, and sugar, while not the main food, this pile here is for energy drink powders, tea bags, and coffee, while this pile is for canned main courses and some meat pieces.”

After the rough sorting, Chen Wen took out a pack of sugar and a pack of salt from the seasoning pile.

He planned to use these two things tonight.

Salt dissolves in water, is used for roasting meat, adds flavor, and preserves.

Sugar, Chen Wen planned to dissolve it in water and drink it right away.

He really needed a warm bowl of sugar water now, to replenish energy while also using the sweetness to boost mood and spirit.

After organizing things properly, the Golden Eagle returned, flapping its wings in the sky.

It dove into the valley with a swoop, surprising the Snow Leopard into silence.

Before Chen Wen could speak, the Golden Eagle eagerly said, ”Found it! I found drinkable water! It’s not far, just on the other side of this valley, there’s a very, very large lake over there!”

Lake!

Chen Wen’s eyes lit up, lakes on the Qiangtang Plateau are indeed many.

For example, various Tsos, and many nameless seas, along with numerous seasonal lakes.

This is Hua Country’s second largest lake district, and also the world’s highest inland lake district.

Thinking about this, Chen Wen quickly became excited.

If there really is a large lake on the other side of the valley, this place could be the perfect shelter!

Chen Wen thought about it, took the canteen and the military ration bags, planning to fetch water and check things out.

The Golden Eagle said it’s drinkable, so that lake water is most likely potable.

Freshwater lakes have fish, and there usually are some animal groups nearby.

If lucky, one might even find suitable prey.

Chen Wen carried his things, leaving the Snow Leopard to rest in the cave temporarily.

Then he went out of the narrow valley entrance, led by the Golden Eagle, climbed over the cliff on the east side of the valley to reach the other side, which is the north side.

Looking north from here, Chen Wen quickly saw a vast expanse of pale blue, almost white lake.

The lake’s area isn’t very large, it’s considered a relatively small lake.

Surrounding it can be seen some herds of herbivorous animals.

The closest animals to Chen Wen were a herd of Kiang in the distance.

Kiang, a state-level one protected animal.

These guys are also the herbivorous animals strictly forbidden by Chen Wen from hunting this time.

Because even though they are protected nationally, their numbers are exceedingly sparse, with recent statistics showing around eighty thousand on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

But according to communications from the association and herders, the Kiang numbers should actually be over one hundred thousand.

However, it must be said that these guys cannot be touched.

Unless Chen Wen is lucky and encounters a dying old Kiang or a sick one.

Otherwise, touching it would mean eating and lodging provided.

After glancing at the Kiang, Chen Wen felt more assured.

The fact that this place can attract herbivores indicates the lake water must be fresh, drinkable!

He raced down the steep slope—mainly because he couldn’t stop himself.

Rushing down, reaching the bottom.

Even though Chen Wen has a ”strong heart and lungs,” he felt somewhat breathless at this moment.

But due to ”balance master” and ”highland ghost” bonuses, Chen Wen’s running posture was very standard, and he didn’t injure himself.

These two traits combined, while not allowing Chen Wen to move across cliffs like the Snow Leopard.

At least, he could walk down slopes skillfully.

A weakened version of the Snow Leopard.

”Phew! How exhausting!”

Taking big breaths of air, Chen Wen headed towards the lake.

Due to having the ”highland ghost” trait activated.

Even though he neither tried to hide his trails, nor did he have any intention to do so, the herd of Kiang only noticed him sharply at a distance of one hundred fifty meters.

The Kiangs showed obvious panic and commotion.

They fled in fright, running towards a place farther from Chen Wen.

...

”It’s not like I can hunt you, what are you afraid of?”

Chen Wen murmured a little as he watched the Kiangs flee.

No longer paying attention to those guys, Chen Wen arrived at the lakeside.

The lake in this high mountain hasn’t completely thawed yet, Chen Wen looked and saw remnants of ice in the lake’s center.

However, the lakeside had melted.

He carefully walked to the lakeside, touching the lake water with his hand—cold, with a chill that was even somewhat piercing.

After looking at the lake water, its color seemed normal.

None of those colors that make one feel the water is undrinkable.

After splashing some lake water with his hand, Chen Wen first smelled the water’s scent, a bit fishy, but it was a normal earthy smell, with a faint fishy odor.

”Hmm, the taste is still okay.”

Finally, it was time to taste.

Chen Wen scooped a handful of lake water, brought it to his mouth, and took a small sip.

The taste was quite nice, giving a feeling like drinking chilled mineral water.

”Nice, indeed drinkable!”

Chen Wen took out the empty canteen, gulped down water, and then took out the military ration bag, filling it halfway with water.

Filling it too much would risk damaging the bag.

A half bag of water, still amounts to two or three liters.

Once brought back, these waters could be heated and boiled in a big iron pot.

Although the temperature wouldn’t be too high, it would be enough for Chen Wen to enjoy a nice cup of hot tea.

Additionally, he could cook some sheep bones for a bowl of sheep bone soup.

Paired with roasted sheep meat.

Goodness, Chen Wen couldn’t imagine how comfortable that would be!

Thinking about this, Chen Wen couldn’t bother with exploring the lake area.

He called the Golden Eagle, quickly heading towards the shelter.

The journey back was equally safe, just a bit tiresome climbing uphill.

The slope here was still a bit steep.

Without using any aids to leverage, a normal person would find it somewhat difficult to climb up while carrying things.

But with the Snow Leopard’s climbing ability in its weakened form, Chen Wen didn’t exert much effort.

Soon, he returned to the valley with nearly five liters of water.
