Chapter 639: Chapter 638: The Most Vicious Elf

As a Magician, Mana Suginomiya had never imagined that one day she would be sitting in a coffee shop chatting with Elves.

And not just one, but two.

”So, what exactly do you want from me?”

Setting down her coffee cup, Mana Suginomiya glared at Fang Zheng with displeasure. She really didn’t want to be with an Elf, but what could she do? Fang Zheng had already hinted, ”If you don’t come with us, then we’ll have to fight right here...”

Well, Mana certainly didn’t want to involve ordinary people in a battle of that scale.

So, she had no choice but to accept Fang Zheng’s ”invitation” and sit here having coffee with two Elves...

”Actually, there’s nothing too serious. In fact, I just wanted to have a good talk with you, Miss Mana.”

Confronted with Mana’s dissatisfied and complaining gaze, Fang Zheng appeared quite calm.

”After all, you are the only one in this world we have had contact with.”

”That’s because I was your captive.”

At this point, Mana became visibly upset. Although Fang Zheng had knocked out all the Magicians, so nobody knew Mana had been taken away. As one of the top five powerful Magicians in the world, Mana’s strength was clear to everyone in DEM, so most people assumed that Mana must have withstood the Elves’ attack, chasing after them and thereby getting separated from the others.

Faced with these speculations from her comrades, Mana could only suffer in silence like having a mouthful of coptis—unable to express her bitterness. She couldn’t very well admit that she had been captured by the enemy and then released! DEM wasn’t exactly full of saints and believers; what if they started suspecting Mana of being a traitor?

”But at least we can communicate with each other.”

Fang Zheng remained unfazed, his heart steady as ever— after all, he was an executive and needed such thick skin not just to... well, not to deceive, but to persuade investors.

”I just want to tell you, Miss Mana, that there is no irreconcilable conflict between Elves and humans, and we have no intention to create any catastrophes or chaos in this world. But, this doesn’t mean that if someone attacks us, we will not fight back. You should understand this...”

”That sounds nice...”

Mana pouted, showing her discontent, but even though she was clearly not happy, at least for the moment, she didn’t counter Fang Zheng’s words.

And Fang Zheng didn’t care. He just smiled slightly and continued.

”So, Miss Mana, I have something I want to ask you.”

”What is it?”

”The reason you attack us is because when we manifest in the Present Realm, we cause spacequakes which can be harmful to the people of this world, right?”

”That’s correct.”

This time, Mana nodded with certainty.

”What if I were to tell you that we have mastered a technique to manifest in the Present Realm without causing spacequakes, would you still attack us?”

”Huh?”

Mana was taken aback upon hearing this.

”I know there is a record of Elves manifesting silently, but...”

”In fact, our manifestation this time was done using that technique.”

Fang Zheng spread his hands, smiling at Mana.

”Up to now, you haven’t heard any alerts for spacequakes, have you? And here we are, sitting right in front of you, aren’t we? So, how about it? This already proves that our manifestation is not a danger to humans. With this in mind, would you still continue to attack us?”

”This... this... well...”

From Mana’s flustered expression, it was clear the girl had never considered such a turn of events. She glanced around uncertainly, grabbed the coffee cup, then placed it back on the table. She then picked up the sugar cube next to her, added two into the cup, with a frantic, unsure-of-what-to-do look.

Although Mana usually appeared confident and decisive, she was after all just a fourteen-year-old girl. As a powerful Magician, she certainly understood what it meant that ”Elves could manifest without triggering spacequakes”.

But...

”Why are you telling me all this anyway!”

Right now, Mana felt as if two countries were at war, she being a frontline commander of one side, only to be told by the enemy that ”We plan to dismantle our nuclear weapons and cease hostilities, what will you do?” I’m just an employee, aren’t I? Don’t hand over such a decision about the fate of the human world to me!

”Because I only know you, Miss Zhenna.”

The answer from Fang Zheng made Zhenna regret even more why on earth she had let this guy catch her.

”But... I’m just a company employee... In other words, I’m just hired... All this, you suddenly telling me this...”

”I’m not asking about DEM Corporation’s thoughts; I’m asking about your own thoughts, Miss Zhenna.”

Watching a panicked Zhenna, Fang Zheng also spoke with a smile.

”From your perspective, if elves in the Present Realm don’t cause spatial quakes, would you still want to take the initiative to attack her?”

”Well...”

This time, Zhenna thought for a moment before giving her answer.

”If you don’t pose a threat to humans, then I won’t lay a hand on you.”

”Whew...”

Hearing this, Yoshino, who had been anxiously by the side, breathed a sigh of relief, and Fang Zheng also nodded in satisfaction.

”Then, if we teach other elves this Skill, would you also spare those elves?”

”...”

But this time, Zhenna didn’t immediately answer. She stared at the coffee cup in front of her and remained silent for a long while before finally lifting her head.

”No, I can’t speak for other elves, but there’s one of them that I must eradicate.”

”Oh?”

Fang Zheng raised his eyebrows upon hearing this.

”Why?”

”Simple, because that elf didn’t rely on spatial quakes, but instead killed over ten thousand people with her own hands!”

”What?!”

At this, Yoshino exclaimed in shock, and even Fang Zheng’s eyes widened slightly. Although he had guessed that not all elves were as timid and wary as Yoshino, the fact that one had directly killed over ten thousand people without using spatial quakes... This elf indeed seemed extremely vicious.

”In fact, I came here this time to track her down.”

Zhenna seemed no longer inclined to continue talking with Fang Zheng and the others. She glanced at the time on her phone and then stood up.

”Tell me, what is the name of that elf?”

”I don’t know her name.”

Zhenna shook her head.

”In the internal database of DEM Corporation, her codename is Nightmare, the most vicious and terrifying elf in the world... Well, I’m leaving.”

”Miss Zhenna...”

”What else?!”

Hearing Fang Zheng call her again, Zhenna had to turn around and glare at him fiercely. If possible, she really wanted to manifest her weapon right there and then and strike him down.

However...

She couldn’t win, which was so frustrating!

And faced with Zhenna’s dissatisfied questioning, Fang Zheng simply shook the cellphone in his hand.

”How about we add each other as friends? It’ll be easier to communicate in the future.”

”...”
