Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 612: Chapter 611: Gentlemen, This is War

The flames dissipated.

The silent stadium reappeared, and at Fang Zheng’s feet, only a pile of pitch-black ash remained.

”Ooooh...ah...”

Upon closer inspection, one could still see the sporadically flickering Mars amidst the charred ashes, accompanied by Soren’s moans of agony.

This was the punishment Fang Zheng had bestowed upon her.

Typically, Fang Zheng’s method for burning firewood essentially involved using the Primordial Fire to completely incinerate the individual first, then taking the firewood back to the Ritual Site. There, through the ”squeezing” and ”refining” processes of the Soulfire, it would be transformed into ”energy” that could be used to sustain the burning of the Soulfire.

However, this time, Fang Zheng did not allow Soren to undergo this process. Instead, he applied the entire set of procedures directly to Soren—while she was still alive.

This meant that Soren would ”enjoy” the whole process. She would experience her soul and body being incinerated by the Primordial Fire, then undergo all the steps of ”squeezing” and ”refining”—in essence, it was like someone experiencing from beginning to end the process of being quartered and then continually ground into mincemeat by a blender.

More horrifyingly, during this process, she would absolutely not pass out, nor could she escape any of it.

As a result, Soren had collapsed.

Her soul was reduced to its last spark, and now even Soren’s thoughts of cursing and pleading had disappeared. With only that faint spark remaining, the only thing audible was her feeble screams.

”No... please... don’t...”

”Huuuh...”

A gust of wind blew by, and in Fang Zheng’s eyes, that last spark also vanished. Simultaneously, Soren’s voice also disappeared into the wind.

Just then, suddenly, a voice sounded.

”Alas, I never expected Soren to die so miserably...”

Fang Zheng turned around to look behind him. Sitting on a railing not too far behind him was a young man in uniform and shorts, grinning and watching Fang Zheng and the pitch-black ashes at his feet.

”Although it’s not unexpected, it’s really hard to believe that you possess such immense power. It seems the Major has really underestimated you...”

Before the young man could finish his sentence, the top half of his head unexpectedly flew off as if the lid had been flipped open, leaving only his tongue still trembling on his jaw. The half-headed body of the young man then swayed from side to side and, with a ”plop,” fell backward to the ground.

Fang Zheng coldly watched the corpse, flicking his right hand to return the greatsword to its original form. However, what Fang Zheng did not expect was that just as he turned around, that voice appeared again.

”I say, you’ve got quite the temper, attacking just like that—it’s really not good.”

Upon hearing the voice again, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow, then turned his head to look. The young man had reappeared on the other side of the spectator stands, still grinning and watching him. Seeing this, Fang Zheng quickly turned his head around to double-check the young man’s body—surprisingly, the body that should have been there had vanished without a trace.

”Don’t be so surprised.”

Watching Fang Zheng’s expression, the young man chuckled.

”I am everywhere and nowhere... In fact, I’m just here to check on the situation on behalf of the Major. But brother, your power is quite interesting indeed. It was detected that something was amiss earlier, and the doctor wanted to destroy her, but surprisingly, Soren’s signal became undetectable. It’s really strange. What exactly did you do to her during that time, brother?”

”That’s classified.”

Fang Zheng coldly stared at the young man before him. He could feel that his presence was indeed quite abnormal, seemingly appearing only when he himself observed him. Conversely, if he shifted his attention away, the young man would immediately disappear. Simply put, this young man was like an entity shifting between illusion and reality.

If Fang Zheng still possessed the Time Dragon’s power to manipulate time, he could easily eliminate this individual by permanently fixing the young man’s existence to the point where he was observed, thus completely erasing him. Unfortunately, Fang Zheng had not yet regained his ability to manipulate time. After burning the woman named Soren, his system’s repair progress was only at 45%, not even reaching 50%. The physical strength of the Dragon Race and the Swarm that Fang Zheng had regained were still sealed.

”What do you want?”

Since he could not completely kill the opponent, Fang Zheng cut to the chase and asked. The young man chuckled in response.

”Actually, I’m just here to relay a message from the Major...”

While speaking, the young man stood on the railing, then bent down, making an inviting gesture.

”Welcome to our world, Mr. Fang Zheng. You have traveled a long way, and as your host, we have prepared a warm welcome gift for our guests from afar... Please accept it with a smile, and I hope you enjoy a pleasant night!”

As he finished speaking, the young man performed a backflip in front of Fang Zheng and then disappeared without a trace.

However...

”A pleasant night?”

Watching the direction in which the boy had vanished, Fang Zheng suddenly had a very ominous feeling. It was clear that since their arrival, every move had been under surveillance. Although he had anticipated this, the situation seemed a bit worse than he had imagined.

Wait, could it be...

”Boom, boom, boom...”

Just then, Fang Zheng suddenly heard the roar of helicopters in the distant night sky, and then he saw three military helicopters appear, arriving right above his head. Soon after, the searchlights turned on, bathing Fang Zheng in their beam. At the same time, hundreds of police officers and soldiers wearing bulletproof vests and wielding weapons burst in from the emergency exits nearby, aiming at their target.

”...so they are playing this game.”

Looking at the enemies in front of him who clearly seemed more alive than dead, Fang Zheng sighed. Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out his cell phone, and dialed a number.

Soon, Intagura’s voice came through.

”What’s going on, Fang Zheng?”

”I’m surrounded by guys who look like Brazilian police and army officers.”

Fang Zheng casually spoke while observing the soldiers around him.

”What now? It seems they’ve managed to infiltrate the military and political echelons of this country. Things could get messy if we push too hard. Should I raise my hands and surrender, or...”

As he spoke, the corners of Fang Zheng’s mouth lifted slightly.

”...shall I resolve this in my own way?”

”...”

This time, Intagura didn’t respond immediately. After a few moments, she finally said,

”Just now, the Rio de Janeiro police launched a raid against Alucard and others under the pretense of murdering hotel staff and taking hostages.”

”Oh?”

Fang Zheng raised his eyebrows upon hearing this.

”And the outcome? I assume Alucard isn’t the type to negotiate with them.”

”...The entire SWAT team was annihilated.”

Intagura’s voice was a bit excited as she spoke, but she quickly calmed down again.

”My orders have not changed! They are still effective! Complete your mission!”

”Search and Destroy, understood, Young Lady.”

With that, Fang Zheng turned off his phone and looked up. By this time, the police and soldiers had completely surrounded him from all sides of the stadium. The distant helicopters had also begun to descend, preparing for combat.

”So...”

Watching the scene unfold before him, the corners of Fang Zheng’s mouth lifted slightly again.

”Let’s do this my way.” freēNovelFire.com
