Chapter 628: Chapter 627: The Girl Alone

Delicious food is always a good way to bridge the gap. After breakfast, the girl was no longer so nervous facing Fang Zheng.

”So, let’s start with a self-introduction.”

After clearing away the dishes, Fang Zheng sat in front of the girl and started his self-introduction with a smile.

”My name is Fang Zheng. What’s your name?”

”I... I...”

When faced with Fang Zheng’s question, the girl became nervous, lowered her head, and anxiously watched the ground. After a moment, she spoke softly.

”Yoshino...”

”Yoshino? That’s a nice name.”

Upon learning the girl’s name, Fang Zheng also breathed a sigh of relief. Although the girl seemed shy and timid, as long as she could speak and communicate, that was good enough.

”So... may I ask where is this place?”

”...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Yoshino was silent for a moment and then shook her head.

”I also... don’t know...”

”What? Then, are there other people in this world besides you?”

”...”

But faced with Fang Zheng’s question, Yoshino still shook her head.

”So, how did you appear here?”

”...”

Still shaking her head.

What was going on?

Looking at the girl in front of him, Fang Zheng didn’t know what to say for a moment. Maybe sensing Fang Zheng’s astonishment, Yoshino cautiously lifted her head and spoke softly.

”I... also don’t know... what’s going on. When I came to my senses, I was here... There is no one else here besides me... I only know my name is Yoshino, but beyond that... I don’t remember anything else...”

”I see...”

At that moment, Fang Zheng finally understood why Yoshino acted the way she did upon seeing him. He thought, a girl who lost her memory, alone in a deserted city, suddenly encountering another person, would naturally feel suspicious.

”So, is it dangerous here?”

”Here... there is no danger...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Yoshino answered softly again.

”But... another world... is very scary...”

”Another world?”

Hearing Yoshino’s answer, Fang Zheng was also puzzled. What did she mean by another world?

”Yes...”

Perhaps feeling that Fang Zheng was a ”fellow” of hers, Yoshino was noticeably more lively than before at this moment.

”Sometimes I leave here... and then go to another... world, there...”

She lifted her hand to gesture, seemingly at a loss for words momentarily.

”There are many, many people there... but they are very angry, they attack me as soon as I appear...”

”They attack you?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng looked at Yoshino again, her petite frame, pitiful eyes, and that doll-like delicate and lovely face, would surely evoke a desire to protect in anyone. And yet there are people who attack such a frail and pitiful girl? Could those people be of the same breed as the madmen in Anan?

”Why do they attack you? Do you know?”

”I don’t know...”

As she spoke, perhaps recalling the battles she had fought, Yoshino couldn’t help curling up, trembling.

”I also don’t know why they bully me... I clearly did nothing wrong...”

”I understand.”

Seeing the trembling girl in front of him, Fang Zheng reached out and gently touched her head.

”Alright, say no more. I believe you’re a good kid who wouldn’t hurt anyone... So, what happened after that? Have you never gone to that world again?”

In Fang Zheng’s view, a timid and introverted child like Yoshino, if bullied, surely wouldn’t go to that world again. However, he planned to visit that world himself. According to Yoshino, that world was populated by many people, so surely there must be something to discover there.

But to Fang Zheng’s surprise, in response to his comment, Yoshino shook her head again.

”No... I went to that world several times... and each time I was attacked...”

”Went several times?”

Hearing this response, Fang Zheng was quite shocked. Clearly, this child seemed so introverted and fragile, yet she had the courage to go to that world several times even though she was attacked?

”Yes... I didn’t want to go, but...”

At this point, Yoshino gripped her skirt tightly again.

”But... I don’t know why, every so often, I would automatically disappear from this world... it’s like I fell asleep... and then when I opened my eyes again... I would find myself in that world...”

”So, you mean you can’t control this yourself?”

”... Yes...”

Seeing Yoshino nod again, Fang Zheng finally understood. This girl did not possess the ability to time travel at will; rather, she seemed to be forced to travel between two worlds, with the time and location of her travels completely random. That meant, perhaps in the midst of talking to Fang Zheng, Yoshino might disappear from here and then appear in that ”world with many people” she mentioned.

So that was it; for now, that was all the information available.

Having sorted through Yoshino’s words in his mind, Fang Zheng had formed a rough judgment about this world. Clearly, this world was not the real world as he knew it; it was likely that the ”world with many people” referred to by Yoshino was the real world. Why Yoshino could move freely between these two worlds, and why people in that world attacked her, was still unclear. However, according to Yoshino, it seemed there was no way to actively break free from this world; she could only passively choose to travel.

”Then, if it’s possible, would you mind showing me around?”

Seeing the girl look slightly uneasy, Fang Zheng thought for a moment, then made a request.

”Actually, I also just arrived in this world from another place. Honestly, I didn’t expect to encounter this situation... If it’s possible, could you show me around?”

”Of course!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s request, Yoshino broke into a very happy smile. Perhaps because she had always been alone, having someone with her now was enough to make this shy, introverted girl feel happy.

The rain continued to fall, but neither Yoshino nor Fang Zheng seemed to mind. Yoshino’s clothes appeared to double as a raincoat, and for Fang Zheng, a mere thought was enough to completely prevent rain from penetrating his clothes, so naturally, it wasn’t a problem.

However... to be honest, there really wasn’t much to see in this city. The places Yoshino took Fang Zheng were basically her own favorite spots, such as an empty park, an empty amusement park, an empty station, and so on. According to Yoshino, she spent most days in this world finding a comfortable place to sleep. In the other world, however, she was constantly busy escaping from the people who were after her.

”Up ahead is...”

Just as Yoshino was about to take Fang Zheng to another location, she suddenly stopped, her eyes widening in surprise.

”———————”

At the same time, Fang Zheng heard a strange sound near his ear, similar to the noise of an earphone experiencing interference, but deeper. Simultaneously, he saw the space around Yoshino begin to distort as if by a funhouse mirror, gradually starting to expand!

”Fang, Brother Zheng...”

Sensing the abnormality around her, Yoshino reached out to Fang Zheng in alarm.

”I, I don’t want to disappear...”

If it had been any other day, Yoshino might not have been so anxious, but today was different. For the first time in this world, she had met a kind person who made her feel safe, and she had finally made her first friend. But now, she was about to leave this place again for that terrifying world!

”Hold my hand, Yoshino!”

At this moment, Fang Zheng also quickly reached out, grabbing Yoshino’s hand.

”Don’t worry, I’ll be right beside you!”

As Fang Zheng’s words fell, the space around them suddenly expanded, and then, in the next moment, the figures of the two vanished along with the reshrinking spatial barrier.
