Chapter 624: Chapter 623: If You Can’t Beat the BOSS, Use Plot Armor

Perhaps in the eyes of others, this was a battle.

But for the parties involved, it was a war.

”Clang!!”

Fang Zheng swung the Dark Greatsword in his right hand, chopping towards Alucard in front of him. Alucard, on the other hand, raised his double guns and pulled the trigger at Fang Zheng.

”Bang!”

But just then, with a slight movement of Fang Zheng’s left hand fingers, accompanying the sound of gunfire, a Light Bullet shot out from the barrel at an unbelievable angle, turned a hundred degrees upward, and flew obliquely to hit Alucard’s shoulder. Immediately, Alucard’s body shook, and he knelt on the ground.

The next moment, the Dark Greatsword in Fang Zheng’s right hand pierced through his chest.

”Boom!!”

Flames rose, enveloping Alucard in an instant. The raging flames charred Alucard’s flesh and turned him into a pile of ashes in a blink of an eye. But soon, the flames began to expand, and then a shadow burst forth. Subsequently, dozens of armored knights, riding horses and covered in blood, emerged from the shadow, raising their Knight’s Longspears and thrusting at Fang Zheng.

Facing these suddenly appearing Undead Knights, Fang Zheng was also undaunted. He stepped back and then swung the greatsword in his right hand along an arc on the ground. Soon, the knights of the Farron Undead Legion emerged from the flames, raising their greatswords and forcefully slashing down at the Undead before them.

This was a contest between infantry and cavalry, but faced with the charging cavalry, the knights of the Farron Undead Legion showed no fear. They swung their greatswords forward, crashing into the charging Undead. Soon, hundreds of Undead cavalry were stopped as if blocked by a dam. The Farron Greatswords directly split their bodies and their horses, the scattered blood and flesh had not even fallen to the ground before they started burning, and then turned to ash.

But soon, a series of dense gunshots rang out.

The Crusaders, who were supposed to have died earlier, reappeared, raising their long spears and pulled the triggers at the Farron Knights before them. Alongside them, vampires and inquisitors from the Church also raised their weapons, cooperatively launching an attack on their targets.

But one could see from their bloodstained, pupil-less eyes that these individuals had long lost their souls and lives.

”Didn’t expect vampires to be this troublesome...”

Fang Zheng swung his sword, shredding the enemies before him into pieces while muttering to himself. Initially, Fang Zheng had thought that the vampires gained only infinite life by absorbing others’ lives. But in fact, a vampire’s body was more like a soul warehouse, storing each soul it had taken for use when needed. Similarly, as the owner of this warehouse, a vampire could also release all the souls it had absorbed to enslave them for battle, like a king.

Now, Alucard was using this method to wage a war of attrition against Fang Zheng, his own vassals and soldiers had been almost obliterated by Dragon Breath earlier. But for Alucard, this was obviously not a problem. This city had experienced too much death and war that night, and the fresh blood and souls left behind were his best nourishment.

”Come on! Fang Zheng, show me what you’ve got!”

As the shadow condensed again, Alucard burst into laughter and descended from the sky, holding a longsword and chopping down at Fang Zheng. Although logically, his two guns would be more suited to deal with Fang Zheng, he had realized that Fang Zheng clearly did not fear gunfire; thus, the deterrent power of the guns had greatly diminished. frёeωebɳovel.com

The Dark Greatsword collided with Alucard’s longsword, Fang Zheng suddenly stepped forward while the muscles on his right arm swelled with powerful strength erupting from his arm, directly chopping Alucard’s longsword in half and then splitting his body in two.

When Alucard fell, the smile on his face had not yet faded. But soon, a black dog as tall as two men burst out from Alucard’s shadow, opened its gaping mouth, and bit down on Fang Zheng’s arm, gripping his arm firmly.

”Clang!!”

The black dog’s sharp teeth, capable of penetrating the hardest metal, couldn’t even leave a mark on Fang Zheng’s arm. Instead, due to exerting too much force, the moment it bit down on Fang Zheng’s arm, the black dog’s sharp teeth immediately broke off several, and with a wide mouth crying in agony, it attempted to retreat. Meanwhile, a hand holding a gun extended from the large mouth of the black dog and aimed at Fang Zheng, pulling the trigger.

Accompanying the gunshot was a flame hot enough to melt anything.

”Ah... really didn’t expect the plot to develop like this.”

At the same time, at a not-too-distant bell tower, a young man in a military uniform watched the battlefield below with a cheeky grin.

”Though it’s not quite what the Major had predicted, but... our Major is quite a stubborn man, isn’t he? Even if it’s a dragon, he wouldn’t give up so easily...”

As he spoke, the young man glanced at the river of fresh blood flowing below.

”It’s about time.”

Saying this, the young man reached behind his waist and pulled out a dagger, then without hesitation, he raised the dagger and stabbed it into his own throat, afterward severing his own head.

The next moment, the young man’s body, head, along with the blood, merged into the flowing river of blood.

”Hahaha!!”

At this moment, the battle continued.

”Come on, keep killing me! Let’s see how many times you can kill me! Can you do what humans cannot do?”

”Although I don’t like to say too much...”

Watching Alucard rise again before him, Fang Zheng raised the greatsword in his hand.

”Frankly speaking, I am also half human.”

”Oh... so what? Are you going to keep fighting me like this, or do you plan to abandon all this and turn back into a Giant Dragon?”

Alucard looked at Fang Zheng with a triumphant gleam in his eyes, revealing a manic radiance.

”But at least up to this moment, I have not lost yet!”

”No.”

But as soon as Alucard’s words fell, a voice that belonged neither to him, nor to Fang Zheng, nor to anyone present, resounded from a strange man.

”You lost, Alucard.”

”Oh?”

Hearing this voice, Alucard and Fang Zheng turned their heads towards the direction of the sound, only to see a crimson zeppelin, engulfed in roaring flames, slowly approaching from the distance.

”Lost, who are you talking about? You’re saying I will lose? I will be...”

At this point, Alucard suddenly stopped, standing still, motionless. Not only that, the Undead previously controlled by Alucard, like madmen, had countless crimson eyes emerging from the shadows, then began frantically flowing outward.

”What’s going on?”

Looking at Alucard in front of him, Fang Zheng was also stunned, realizing that the souls and power that had been absorbed and condensed by Alucard were now rapidly escaping from his body, like floodwaters breaking through a dam!

”I... I am...”

Not only that, at the same time, Alucard’s original appearance began to blur, his clothes, attire, and features, everything disappeared, melting into the pitch-black depths.

”How can this be?”

Seeing this scene, not only Fang Zheng, but Seras and Intagura in the distance were also equally shocked. If Alucard had been completely incinerated by Fang Zheng, they could have accepted it. But now, it clearly wasn’t Fang Zheng’s doing!

”What exactly did you do? Major!”

”Hahaha...”

Along with Intagura’s roar, the Major’s laughter echoed once again.

”Do I even need to say? To kill Alucard... this has been my mission, my life’s goal... Throughout history, the best way to kill a cruel tyrant has always been to poison them... It’s the same with Alucard, as the King of Vampires, I don’t have the power to confront him directly like that Giant Dragon. After all, I’m just a fragile, weak, incapable human being. But even as a human, with enough skill, one can kill an undead creature...”

”Poison?”

Hearing the Major’s answer, Fang Zheng also frowned. He didn’t believe that any poison could affect a vampire, or was there another implication?

”He absorbed the life of Lieutenant Schrödinger, so... besides merging with Lieutenant Schrödinger, what else could he become?”

Lieutenant Schrödinger?

Hearing this, Fang Zheng suddenly remembered the youth he had killed and then quietly resurrected at the Rio de Janeiro stadium. Wait, Schrödinger... no way!

”That was a Schrödinger’s cat capable of self-awareness and self-observation. But now, this adorable kitten has merged into millions of lives, he can no longer recognize himself, nor observe himself, so, if one cannot recognize and observe oneself... can they still exist in this world?”

”..........”

Hearing this, Intagura’s expression changed.

”Now, Alucard is nothing more than a set of imaginary numbers... He exists everywhere and nowhere. It looks like, in the end, I have won this war, not Alucard, not the Vatican, not the vampires, nor that peculiar Giant Dragon... Ultimately, this war is a victory for humanity...”

”......”

As if to annotate the Major’s words, Alucard’s eyes began to slowly close, his gaze now unfocused, even unable to recognize his own existence anymore.

However...

”You mean, because he has merged with the lives of millions, he can no longer recognize himself, right.”

Fang Zheng looked up, gazing at the distant zeppelin.

”As a powerless human, you have indeed surprised me, but unfortunately, the power of humanity has its limits...”

While speaking, Fang Zheng raised his right hand, gripping the greatsword tightly, and soon, flames emerged from the blade.

”Since the millions of him can’t recognize themselves, wouldn’t it be better if just the last one remained? Remember this, old bat, you owe Laozi a favor!!”

Along with Fang Zheng’s roar, the pitch-black greatsword was heavily thrust into the ground.

The next moment, an explosion of brilliant crimson flames erupted, engulfing the entire city.
