Chapter 623: Chapter 622 Fang Zheng’s Battlefield (Part 3)

The war was still ongoing, but the opponents on the battlefield had changed.

Vampires, Crusaders—these ambitious beings who once thought they could dominate the entire battlefield had vanished. The remnants of the Third Reich wailed in the flames, and the Knights’ Order lamented in the rubble. They had to realize that, in fact, they had no significance whatsoever; the rulers of the battlefield had switched, and the confrontation between the Giant Dragon and the Undead Legion had already begun at this moment.

A black giant, formed by the aggregation of tens of thousands of Undead Creatures, reached out towards the Giant Dragon. Facing the onslaught of the black giant, the dragon flapped its wings and soared into the sky again, then opened its mouth and spewed out a breath of Dragon Breath. The Primordial Fire burned fiercely, devouring everything—those alive, those dead, and those half-dead—transforming them into the power of firewood.

This was an utterly unfair fight; even someone as powerful as Alucard seemed like Don Quixote fighting windmills before this dragon. He had no way to reach the dragon flying in the sky, but each breath from the dragon caused heavy losses to Alucard’s Undead Legion.

The city had already been utterly destroyed in the fight between the two, with flames capable of melting skyscrapers and turning centuries-old buildings into ash. Meanwhile, the surging Dead River rolled as if it were fighting the flames descending from the sky, trying to engulf them completely.

”Yes, just like that! It has to be this way! It has to be!”

However, as he watched his Undead Legion vanish in the flames, Alucard showed no sign of terror or dismay; on the contrary, he excitedly widened his eyes, watching the scene unfold before him. He could feel the power within those flames, the power that could help him achieve his ambitions... And that was his goal, his dream, and the end of everything!

”MASTER!”

Just then, Seras’ voice rang out behind Alucard. He turned his head and looked at his Blood Descendant. The seemingly clumsy policewoman stood there anxiously, watching him.

”MASTER, what are you...”

”You have grown into an outstanding vampire, Seras Victoria.”

Looking at the policewoman in front of him, Alucard reached out and gently stroked her head. He could see that Seras’ originally Azure eyes had now turned a vivid red. He didn’t know what had happened to Seras. In fact, Alucard didn’t care. All he knew was that at this moment, Seras had finally given up her human identity and became a pure vampire.

”MASTER?”

Feeling Alucard’s touch, Seras froze there—it was the first time she had received such gentle treatment from Alucard, which gave the policewoman a very bad premonition.

”This was your choice, Seras. But you must know, vampires carry more than just these burdens. And now, it seems I’ve found the thing I’ve been searching for.”

As he spoke, Alucard turned his head and looked at the dragon soaring in the sky.

”So next... come on! Let us resume that unfinished fight, Fang Zheng!!”

While shouting, Alucard raised both hands; as he did, all the blood in the city started rapidly flowing back, seemingly drawn to him as it merged into his body. The dead Crusaders, vampires, ghouls, and humans all became Alucard’s nourishment at that moment.

This was the nature of a vampire—draining others’ lives and souls, sustaining their existence. And unless he killed every life he had absorbed, the vampire would continually regenerate and persist. This was Alucard, the power of a vampire.

If nothing unexpected happened, Alucard could live until the end of the world. But for him, he had already existed in this world long enough. Alucard once thought that eternal rest was an unreachable dream for him, but now, he had finally found a way to realize this dream.

”Huh...!”

The Giant Dragon clearly heard Alucard’s call; it thundered down to the ground and then, accompanied by a roaring wind, Fang Zheng’s figure appeared from within.

”What are you doing?”

Meanwhile, in the spirit world, the Zerg Overlord looked in surprise at the dragon beside him.

”He is our firewood! You just have to burn him, and we will have enough power to fix the system, now is not the time for you to play games!”

”Shut up, you worm!”

The Giant Dragon snorted coldly.

”This is the pride of our Dragon Race, he has issued us a call to battle and as a Giant Dragon, it is my duty to respond to his challenge! Any Hero who dares to draw his sword in front of a Giant Dragon deserves our attention, it is a form of respect!”

”Utter foolishness!”

Upon hearing the Giant Dragon’s response, the Zerg Overlord laughed bitterly in extreme agitation.

”Have you forgotten how the master personality killed that Shadow Dragon? Are you going to make the same mistake? Move aside, let me take control of the body, you damned fool, the master personality was right, the pride and arrogance of the Dragon Race is indeed incomprehensible...”

”All of you shut up!”

Listening to the argument between the Giant Dragon and the Zerg Overlord, Fang Zheng stamped his foot heavily, and in the next moment, flames erupted from his body, transforming into the armor of the Farron Undead Legion.

”Now we are facing a person, not a chimpanzee! This battle is mine, you all get lost!”

”Each and every one of you is insane, blinded by fragile self-esteem and emotions, you really have made a foolish choice.”

Seeing that Fang Zheng, as the master personality, had already spoken, the Zerg Overlord could only reluctantly retreat back into the shadows once more.

”But I will be watching here, this is not only your body, it is also mine. I will do whatever it takes to survive! Master personality, don’t forget, surviving in this world is not so easy. This life that we have finally regained is not meant to be discarded in this way!”

”It seems you have come to understand what glory and pride are.”

Unlike the Zerg Overlord, the Giant Dragon looked on at Fang Zheng with satisfaction.

”Those cold-blooded calculators will never understand, we Dragons are neither imbeciles nor fools, we are well aware of the risks, nor do we romantically charge to our deaths like knights. A person, a life, needs more than just dependency to survive. I believe you understand that as well, humans inherently possess a rebellious gene. What do we fight for? Not for that trivial knightly spirit, nor out of mutual sympathy, but because, as a Giant Dragon, a human, a higher being, we naturally possess dignity and honor that far surpass those of primitive beasts.”

Having said this, the Giant Dragon also slowly backed away.

”Go forth, show that insect through your actions that what we do is not for showmanship! But for dignity, for honor... most importantly, we have absolute confidence in our victory! Because this is our power!”

Fang Zheng opened his eyes.

The flames dissipated from his body, transforming once again into the armor of the Farron Undead Legion. And before him lay a crimson battlefield. Across from him stood Alucard, separated by vast swathes of charred corpses, everything seemed like a replay of that day.

Why do this?

Fang Zheng could feel his inner self questioning, this wasn’t scientific, rational, or safe. He could have simply soared in the sky and then used Dragon Breath to completely incinerate it. Why still choose to duel in this manner? Aren’t you afraid of capsizing in a ditch? Think about it, how many game bosses have died from such arrogance? Do you also want to be one of them?

Of course, I understand.

Fang Zheng clenched the Dual Sword in his hands and walked forward slowly.

But why must I necessarily be the boss? After all, it’s just a game, can’t I also have a protagonist’s aura? I am confident in defeating him, no matter what, I see no possibility of failure. So, why am I still making this choice?

That is because... after all, I am also just a human.

Fang Zheng raised the Greatsword in his hand, pointing it towards Alucard.

”Come, let us continue our war.”
