Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 618: Chapter 617: Are you guys ready to go... What kind of development is this?

[System Repair Progress (45%)]

Standing on the burning aircraft carrier, Fang Zheng hummed softly at the system prompt before him. He looked up once more, towards what was in front of him. The woman who had been pinned to the wall by the pitch black greatsword was now completely consumed by the flames, leaving behind only a last wisp of black ash.

The entire aircraft carrier was engulfed in flames, and it looked like it wouldn’t be long before it sank deep into the ocean.

”Good, now that these damned vampires are taken care of...”

Fang Zheng gripped the pitch black greatsword in his hand and pulled it out. He could feel the Soulfire burning inside his body, ready to burst and boil with the addition of new firewood. A wild and bloody energy like oil flowed through his veins to every part of his body. Then, Fang Zheng closed his eyes and opened them again.

He raised the silver short sword in his left hand and pulled the trigger towards what was ahead.

”Bang!”

Accompanied by the sound of gunfire, the light bullet that shot out from the barrel of the silver short sword followed a dizzying trajectory through the air and shattered the burning debris behind Fang Zheng at an angle that would enrage Newton.

”Great, these vampires do have some use.”

Pleased with what he had done, Fang Zheng nodded. He had already killed three vampires in this world. After burning the blond man at the start, the power of the Dragon Race began to awaken within Fang Zheng. And after burning the short-haired tomboy, the Zerg’s ”Ability Plunder” was also revived in him. Thus, when Fang Zheng killed this black-haired female vampire, burning her body and soul as firewood, he absorbed and obtained her Magic Bullet ability.

Paired with the Spear Reversal skill he learned from the Blood Source, this ability was quite valuable in Fang Zheng’s eyes.

Next...

The storm came again, and the giant dragon form of Fang Zheng once more emerged from the sea of fire. He spread his wings and flew up from the flames, heading towards the distant horizon.

Millennium, clean your neck and wait for me!

According to the information provided by Alucard, Millennium’s headquarters was located in a rarely visited rainforest in South America—an inaccessible wasteland for humans. But for Fang Zheng, it was just a matter of hours of travel. Not long after, as he dived down from the clouds, Fang Zheng quickly spotted the secret base hidden in the tropical rainforest.

Good, prepare to face my fury, you remnants of the Third Reich, you will be completely reduced to ash amidst the flames!

With this thought, a cold light flashed in Fang Zheng’s eyes. Then, the giant dragon tore through the clouds in a dive and landed right in the middle of the sinister base under the flag of the Third Reich.

”Boom!!”

As the giant dragon landed, the ground shook, and the dull roar echoed through the rainforest, startling flocks of birds to fly away in all directions. Fang Zheng stood tall, proudly spreading his wings.

”Repent your folly, pitiable Undead! You have angered an entity you should not have! Now, you shall pay for your...”

It was then that Fang Zheng realized that there was no noise in the base at all. Apart from a few old mice, he couldn’t sense any sign of life, which left him confused. He narrowed his eyes and looked down at the base in front of him, but couldn’t see even a glimmer of light. So, the scene where Fang Zheng had expected the remnants of the Third Reich to tremble with their weapons raised before him and then be burnt to charcoal was not going to happen...

...Can’t I just enjoy looking cool for once?! freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Since there was no audience, it didn’t make sense for Fang Zheng to swagger in the air, so he quickly reverted to his human form and walked towards the secret base.

Where did everybody go?

Before long, Fang Zheng noticed something was off about the base. From the inside, everything was orderly—it didn’t look like they had fled in panic after discovering his arrival. Moreover, the traces left in the base suggested that the people had left less than a day ago.

But the question was... where had they gone?

After rummaging through the secret base and not finding even a ghost shadow, the situation struck Fang Zheng as very unusual. Normally, even in a total mobilization, there would be a few guards left behind in the base. But from the current state of this secret base, it seemed they had evacuated everyone. Not a single person was left.

What’s going on here? Did Alucard get the information wrong, or had the enemy guessed this day would come?

After tearing the base upside down to no avail, Fang Zheng reluctantly walked out of the clearly abandoned secret base. He then took out his phone and made a call to Intagura. Regardless, he needed to report in and figure out what was going on.

”Beep... beep... beep...”

But to Fang Zheng’s surprise, after he dialed Intagura’s number, all he got was a busy signal.

No answer? Or maybe they were too caught up in a door-to-door sales pitch?

Fang Zheng didn’t overthink it; he just assumed that Intagura had hung up due to some emergency on her end. After all, she was someone who could directly enter the Royal Palace and see the Queen, so it wasn’t impossible that she was busy dealing with national affairs... of course, Fang Zheng suspected that she was probably occupied with the broken vehicles he had caused...

Okay, thinking like this suddenly made Fang Zheng feel that he shouldn’t disturb her further; it’d be better to find Walter, that nice guy instead.

So, he dialed Walter’s number again, however...

”Still busy? Could it be that these two are up late at night, not sleeping, and having a long chat on the phone?”

Staring at his mobile phone which was still emitting a busy signal, Fang Zheng was somewhat baffled. He had never imagined that both would coincidentally not pick up their phones... Wait, does that mean these two have a thing going on? Hey, now that I think about it, it’s not impossible. According to Walter himself, he watched Intagura grow up, and since she lost her father at a young age, she might see Walter as a father figure. The type of girl who grows up with a father complex, and looking at Intagura, it’s not like she has any men to date on the outside... Wait, maybe she genuinely doesn’t need to?

But Walter is a butler by profession, so, perhaps to avoid scrutiny, they deliberately maintain decorum in public and then take advantage of the quiet of the night to call each other to soothe their longing hearts?

Ah, as I think about it, Fang Zheng suddenly finds the idea thrilling. A domineering CEO’s Young Lady and a faithful old butler love story? If this were made into a TV series, wouldn’t it run for hundreds of episodes?

Now that’s some big news!

Upon reaching this conclusion, Fang Zheng felt entirely confident that his line of reasoning was flawless and perfectly reasonable, without any issues. So, he quickly dialed Seras’s number; how could he keep such juicy gossip to himself when it needed to be shared with others? Alucard clearly wasn’t someone interested in gossip, so turning to Seras was obviously the best choice!

So Fang Zheng immediately cast aside all thoughts of those WWII remnants and began dialing Seras’s number.

But...

”Beep... Beep... Beep...”

Busy again?

Looking at his phone which continued to show a busy line, Fang Zheng was baffled once more.

What’s going on today? Made three calls, and all three are busy? Did the UK’s telecommunication get hacked, or did an Atlantic earthquake sever the cables?

Could it be that Seras is also having a nighttime chat with Alucard at this hour? Hm, now that you mention it, this domineering boss and her faithful, fragile daughter’s relationship seems quite promising too...

Forget it, I’m not calling anymore.

After two failed attempts at gossiping, Fang Zheng lost the mood to pursue it any further. He transformed back into a Giant Dragon and decided to find a hotel to rest for the night, resolving to call Intagura again in the morning.

After making this decision, Fang Zheng left the rainforest, and without much effort, he followed the distant lights on the horizon to a city... ah, the usual spot, Rio de Janeiro.

What? How do I know, you ask?

The stadium he had collapsed was still there, unmoved!

”Bang bang bang!!”

Just as Fang Zheng was about to find a secluded spot to transform back into his human form, suddenly, a series of gunshots erupted from the city, startling him. He quickly lowered his head to look down at the ground, wanting to see which area was having a gang shootout or a police firefight... but... what’s this?

He saw, through his eyes, a large group of blood-soaked people shambling forward on the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Ahead of them, a few police officers were using their cars as cover, firing shots into the crowd. Destroyed vehicles and smoldering fires were all around... and not far away, on another side, a group of Soldiers were forcefully hurling grenades at the crowd, which at a glance, appeared to be a violent suppression of unarmed, protesting citizens.

But that wasn’t actually the case. If it were ordinary civilians, they would have most likely scattered and fled under such an attack. However, undeterred by the Soldiers’ offense, these people continued to press forward, even if their heads got blown off or their legs got blasted away; they showed no sign of giving up...

Hm? Why does this scene look so familiar? Haven’t I seen something similar in some rather famous CG animation?

”What’s going on here? Did I just time-travel into Resident Evil?”

Watching those people who were shot down by police but then got up again, Fang Zheng was dumbfounded.

This isn’t Raccoon City, is it!
