Chapter 627: Chapter 626: The Girl Who Came with the Rain

”Drip-drop...”

An icy touch woke Fang Zheng up on his cheek, and as he opened his eyes, it was already the next morning. But more importantly...

”Is it raining?”

Looking up at the thick clouds above and the raindrops falling steadily, Fang Zheng yawned and sat up. The surroundings looked exactly the same as before, with no sudden appearance of creatures, nor any demon monsters. Of course, not a single person was in sight, let alone zombies or anything else.

What kind of world is this? If this world is also based on a novel, movie, or game, who would be interested in a world with nothing in it?

”Hmm?”

However, just as Fang Zheng was internally complaining, he suddenly sensed a faint presence. Fang Zheng lifted his head and looked to the side, only to see a petite figure hesitantly peeking out from behind a false hill close by and looking in his direction. But upon noticing Fang Zheng’s movement, the figure immediately withdrew.

Indeed, there are still people in this world.

Although with Fang Zheng’s strength, it would be very easy to overpower the person, looking at the figure resembling a small animal, Fang Zheng decided not to do so. Although he did not know what kind of world this was, it appeared that the person was on high alert; and for now, it didn’t seem appropriate to take any drastic action.

Not that Fang Zheng was out of ideas though.

First off, it was time to make breakfast.

This world seemed to lack the flow of time, at least Fang Zheng had slept all night and didn’t feel hungry. But regardless, a good routine was still necessary. And now that the inventory was unsealed, and its contents usable, Fang Zheng certainly wasn’t going to be polite.

After all, to enjoy a comfortable life in other worlds, Fang Zheng had prepared many supplies. Although most of them hadn’t been used since he learned magic, they were now coming in handy.

First, he set up an outdoor tent, then casually pulled out a portable generator from the inventory, and also an induction cooker to heat the breakfast that Natsuse had made, stored ”chilled” in the inventory. He then turned on the induction cooker to start heating the breakfast.

In the meantime, Fang Zheng took out some mineral water and toiletries to wash up on one side, all the while discreetly sensing that petite figure hidden behind the false hill.

As expected, it was coming this way.

Fang Zheng could sense that the petite figure, upon seeing the things he magically produced, couldn’t help but stealthily approach, looking just like a cautious little animal. The figure would take a few steps and then stop, carefully sizing up Fang Zheng and the tent from a distance. From the gaze, Fang Zheng could feel the other’s confusion and curiosity, mixed with a bit of unease.

But... dealing with little animals, one certainly shouldn’t be hasty.

Therefore, Fang Zheng acted as if he hadn’t noticed anything, simply humming a tune while continuing to wash up. After finishing, he reached out to open the lid of the cooker. He then took out a steamer of piping hot dumplings and, using chopsticks, picked up a dumpling and placed it on a plate, then gently poked a small hole in it.

The next moment, the rich aroma of the broth instantly diffused, and due to the rain, Fang Zheng could even see wisps of white vapor escaping from the opening in the dumpling, spreading in all directions.

”Hmm... Natsuse’s cooking skills are getting better and better...”

Just the smell of the enticing aroma in front of him was enough to make Fang Zheng’s mouth water. At the same time, he sensed that the petite figure, like a little puppy that had smelled the scent of meat, was scampering around just outside the tent, hesitating between the allure of the food and the sense of danger.

I can’t wait any longer, I’ll eat first!

At that moment, Fang Zheng could no longer contain himself, picked up the dumpling and put it into his mouth. Almost instantly, the delicious broth mixed with the tender meat filling exploded in Fang Zheng’s mouth, just that one bite making him relish the endless delight.

This is what life is about!!

”Ooh...”

At that moment, perhaps attracted by the sound of Fang Zheng eating, the small creature could no longer contain itself, and soon, Fang Zheng saw a little head gingerly poking out from the entrance of the tent, looking towards him with curious and cautious eyes.

It was a young girl.

She appeared to be about 13 or 14 years old, wearing a cute green jacket adorned with rabbit ears. Her smooth shoulder-length hair was ocean blue, almost exquisitely cute like a French doll.

”......!”

Realizing Fang Zheng’s gaze, the girl scaredly withdrew her head, but after a moment, she timidly peeked out again to look at Fang Zheng. Watching the girl outside the door, Fang Zheng also smiled and lifted the dumpling in his hand, then poked it open again. Soon, the delicious aroma that made one’s mouth water reemerged, and the girl’s nose twitched lightly a few times, her eyes suddenly fixed on the dumpling.

”Want to eat?”

”.........”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the girl hesitated and then nodded lightly. Fang Zheng also picked up a dumpling and placed it on a plate, then took out a pair of chopsticks and set them on the other side of the table. Seeing this, the girl cautiously moved out, then slowly approached Fang Zheng.

After reaching the dining table, she first looked uneasily at Fang Zheng, and after confirming that Fang Zheng had no hostility, she finally bowed her head to pick up the dumpling. She first sniffed it, then stretched out her little tongue and lightly licked the outside of the dumpling.

”.........”

How should I put it—it was like looking at some kind of adorable little animal.

Perhaps because she had put her mind at ease, the girl then opened her mouth and, before Fang Zheng could stop her, she bit into the dumpling.

Oh no!

”Ah......”

Perhaps having not expected the juice inside the dumpling to be so scalding, the girl who bit into it instantly turned red-faced, opened her mouth, and kept exhaling, while the dumpling she had bitten into instantly fell back onto the plate.

”Ouch......”

Staring at the steaming hot dumpling, the girl showed an expression like a little animal that had fallen into a trap, then she raised her right hand and aimed at the dumpling.

The next moment, Fang Zheng saw a cold chill suddenly emerge from the girl’s hand. In the blink of an eye, it had frozen the dumpling in front of her.

Superpower? Or magic?

Seeing the girl easily using such a peculiar power, Fang Zheng was also taken aback. However, the girl didn’t care about Fang Zheng’s expression; instead, she happily picked up the now frozen dumpling and stuffed it into her mouth again.

Then...

”Ouch.........”

The frozen dumpling of course didn’t taste good.

Looking at the girl’s pitiful expression, Fang Zheng sighed and then picked up another dumpling, waving it at the girl.

”Watch carefully, this is how you eat it.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng used the chopsticks to open a small hole in the dumpling, blew on the opening, then slowly sipped the soup inside before finally putting the rest of the dumpling into his mouth. Seeing Fang Zheng’s method, the girl’s eyes lit up, impatiently grabbing the chopsticks next to her. She looked as if a child was eagerly waiting for a parent to hand them something delightful.

This little one is really cute.

Seeing the girl in front of him, clearly showing an eager expression yet still standing there obediently, Fang Zheng also smiled slightly. Then he picked up another dumpling and placed it on the plate in front of the girl. This time, the girl clumsily poked a hole in the dumpling with chopsticks, then mimicked Fang Zheng, starting to sip the soup inside.

The next moment, Fang Zheng saw the girl’s eyes widen in surprise, her excitement causing her to wave the chopsticks in her hand. After finishing the soup, she ate the dumpling in front of her in one bite, revealing a happy and satisfied expression. Then the girl shyly raised her right hand and gave Fang Zheng a ”GOOD” thumbs up.

It seems I’ve finally improved her impression of me.

Looking at the girl in front of him, Fang Zheng also smiled slightly.

”Come on, keep eating, don’t be shy, there’s plenty more.”
