Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 621: Chapter 620: Fang Zheng’s Battlefield (Part 1)

London was just ahead.

Soaring above the clouds, he gazed at the red-glowing city on the distant horizon. Fang Zheng flapped his wings, flying swiftly towards London.

However, Fang Zheng did not feel comfortable.

For some unknown reason, his spirit resonated more and more with this world to the extent that now Fang Zheng could hear the continuous whispers emanating from his mind.

There were cries, screams, pleas for mercy, and cheers.

”No, don’t come near me, aaaah!!”

”Help, help! Save my child!!”

”Mom!! Let go of my mom! Ah—don’t bite me, it hurts! It hurts!”

”Hahaha, fresh flesh, fresh flesh!”

”Kill to your heart’s content, eat to your heart’s content! This world belongs to us!”

At that moment, Fang Zheng felt as if he was not in the high skies but in a noisy theater. Different plays were being performed all around, and every actor was shouting at the top of their lungs, making it impossible for him to calm down and figure out what exactly was happening. This made Fang Zheng increasingly irritable; he had endured it all the way, but now, he finally could not bear it any longer.

”Damn it, I’ve had enough!”

Hearing the whispers from his mind, Fang Zheng shouted, and then he closed his eyes. Soon, Fang Zheng was back inside the Firelink Shrine.

”Lord of Ash?”

The Fire Keeper stood up in surprise upon seeing Fang Zheng, but he said nothing to her and walked straight to the front of the Chaos Flames, then he immediately reached out and grasped the Abyssal Flame of Chaos.

”Huh!!”

The next moment, the world before Fang Zheng’s eyes changed again.

The entire ritual site vanished in an instant, replaced by a turbid space mixed with black and white. There was no sky, no ground, and streaks of zebra-like black and white stripes extended to the world’s end, so much so that Fang Zheng could not distinguish up from down or left from right.

But that was not important. Fang Zheng forced himself not to focus on those eye-catching lines but to look at the two figures within this space.

”Have you had enough already!?”

”Of course not.”

An arrogant voice came, followed by a Time Dragon extending its head from the dark shadows, looking down on Fang Zheng with disdain.

”You should face reality, main personality! You alone cannot handle the influence of the Abyss! You need our power!”

”Besides, everything you have done is merely a desperate struggle.”

At this moment, the shadows on the other side also gradually dissipated, and then, a Zerg Overlord emerged from within.

”Why do you refuse to accept our existence? We are also a part of you, you know this better than anyone, so what are you hesitating about? Is it for the control of this body? Don’t you find that laughable? If you die here, or are completely swallowed by the Abyss, then everything else is just empty talk. But now, you are still hesitating over such trivialities?”

”Your attitude is why I hesitate.”

Fang Zheng stared coldly at the Zerg Overlord.

”Sorry, I am human. The Zerg’s indifferent, cruel way of thinking is not suitable for me. I don’t know what I’ll become if I were to adopt your mindset. I have my own principles of action, not thinking like the Zerg.”

”Face the reality, you are no longer merely human!”

The Giant Dragon snorted coldly and roared out loud.

”Whether it’s the power you possess or your form, you have long deviated far from the humans! Clinging to the concept of being human itself is absurd, ridiculous, and meaningless! You now possess the noble, mysterious, and powerful bloodline of the Time Dragon, then you should act like a Giant Dragon, not hesitating like a lowly human!”

”I haven’t forgotten how I killed the Shadow Dragon last time.”

Faced with the mockery of the Giant Dragon, Fang Zheng retorted without hesitation.

”I enjoy killing others, but I certainly don’t enjoy being killed in such a disgraceful manner. Giant Dragons make such childish mistakes because they are too arrogant and conceited.”

”However, the arrogance of the Giant Dragons stems from their power. Humans, when vested with power, also become conceited and arrogant, regardless of their race.”

The Zerg Overlord interrupted Fang Zheng again.

”If you possess power, you will be arrogant; it’s inevitable. When you can destroy a mountain range with a wave of your hand, would you still feel nervous about the drunkards in the alley behind the tavern? Although I dislike that big lizard, I must admit he is right. You are no longer just a human, and you should not continue to think like one. Humans are fragile and insignificant, which is why they must tread carefully to survive in this universe. But we are different; we can cross the universe, create stars, and even a world. So, what exactly are you still worried about?”

”Even so, haven’t I become the person I am now?”

Fang Zheng spread his hands, obviously dismissive of the idea, while the Zerg Overlord snorted coldly.

”Admit it, Master personality. The reason you’ve ended up in this state is because your human frail emotions have clouded your judgment! Why did you choose to only bring Black Katie and others, but not everyone else? Think about it, if you had brought Nymph, with her strong sensory power in magic, wouldn’t she have sensed something wrong with that dagger? If Nymph could have warned you beforehand, you wouldn’t have encountered this issue, or at least, you would have been prepared! And in the worst case, Nymph could have taken that hit for you!”

”So what you’re saying is, I should have sacrificed Nymph?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow, and the tone of the Zerg Overlord became even more serious.

”Exactly, that’s the part influenced by your human emotions! Think carefully. We have the Dimensional Codex, we have the system, we can travel through other worlds at will. Even if Nymph were imprisoned or killed, wouldn’t we have a way to rescue and revive her?”

”............”

This time, Fang Zheng didn’t speak.

”No, even if we don’t have it now, it’s very likely that we might find it in some world in the future. Moreover, in the worst case, even if Nymph truly died, she would have protected us and allowed us to survive. Our survival means that the Heavenly Dao Palace, the Cursed Child, and the existence of other beings are still intact! Sacrificing an Artificial Angel in exchange for the safety and stability of the Heavenly Dao Palace, don’t you think it’s worth it? Now look at you, all worried and anxious! You worry about the situation of the Heavenly Dao Palace, you worry about those Cursed Child and other summoned beings, then why don’t you consider that all these are the results of your own choices? If you had sacrificed Nymph, even though you would be sad and in pain, at least you would have a certain future, rather than being overwhelmed by these chaotic thoughts!”

”And, to come back to the point, it was inappropriate for you to let the Heavenly Dao Palace interfere with this world in the first place.”

At this moment, the Giant Dragon also joined in.

”Perhaps for you, maintaining contact with the humans of this world is a normal thing. But you’ve forgotten, you are not merely a human now, and the humans do not know about your other identities. If you were to transform into a Giant Dragon in front of them, would they still see you as a fellow being? Why do you do this? Isn’t it just because of the insignificant sense of companionship inside you? But what’s the point of that? You could completely isolate the Heavenly Dao Palace, not interact with other forces of the Main World; wouldn’t that be better than your current involvement? And now, you’ve dragged the entire Heavenly Dao Palace into a terrible conflict of order and Chaos, a war that even the Time Dragon might not reach the end of, all thanks to your careless actions. If you really were a Time Dragon, then you better crawl to the end of time and never again try to influence this world!”

”Power is not just strength; it is also responsibility.”

The Zerg Overlord continued the admonishment.

”Remember, you and we are not just normal game developers in an ordinary world. Our demise might not even cause a slight change in the company’s stock prices. But in this world, everything we do is far-reaching and deeply impactful. Your every action affects the destinies of countless beings, and the weak and fragile values of humanity will only hinder you and everything you possess. You must change your mindset and accept our existence again! We are an inseparable part of your being, employing the power of the Zerg and the Dragon Race, so you must bear all this.”

”Exactly, that was your choice!”

”.........”

Faced with what the other two parts of himself had said, Fang Zheng remained silent, acknowledging that they were not wrong. Indeed, these were all thoughts within Fang Zheng’s own mind. However, as a human, he had his own mature set of morals and values, hence thinking in this way did not necessarily mean he would act on it.

But now...

”Exactly, now is our opportunity.”

At this time, the Zerg Overlord spoke again.

”Don’t forget, Master Personality, we need to repair the system to leave here and return to the Main World, and for the repair, we need more firewood. We can sense several powerful beings in London, and to us, they are just firewood. By burning them, we can repair the system. For instance...”

”Alucard.”

This time, Fang Zheng spoke out before the others, clearly understanding what the two were considering, after all, they were also him.

”Exactly.”

The Giant Dragon nodded with satisfaction.

”If you can’t do it, then let me do it!”
