The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 942: Chapter 942: Have You Published Any Academic Papers?

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t go to the afternoon gathering, so Amadeus Yancey naturally didn’t want to go either.

In the end, the gathering organized by Sadam Vinson was left only to Govert Griffin, Nadya Tucker, and a bunch of other people. It was held in a private room at Rivendell, the usual place.

Sadam Vinson, fearful of boredom, invited more people. Since Nathalie Quinlan wasn’t there, his celebration was no less grand than that of the Medical Association.

...

Back at the apartment.

Nathalie Quinlan first went back to her room for a shower, then changed into a bathrobe and sat at the desk.

With her legs crossed and a section of her pale collarbone visible beneath the bathrobe, she had a carefree presence that radiated a badass vibe.

Since she hadn’t drawn any design sketches in a long time, Nathalie Quinlan found herself lacking inspiration at the moment.

She turned on the old-looking laptop, pulled up the drawing software, rifled through a drawer to find a sketchbook, opened the zipper of her single shoulder bag, took a 2B pencil from the pencil case, and also pulled out a small knife, leisurely sharpening the pencil.

Just as the pencil was almost sharp, her phone lying on the desk lit up.

Nathalie Quinlan glanced over, thinking it was Silvania Ingram calling to urge her to start drawing, but it turned out to be Mr. Avalon.

She set down the half-sharpened pencil and answered with a headache. Though annoyed, Natalie’s tone was still patient and polite: ”Hello. Teacher.”

”Did I disturb you?” Mr. Avalon had a calming presence, more so than Shawn Norton, his voice though hoarse was clear, giving a gentle feeling.

Nathalie Quinlan leaned back in her chair, lazily staring at the paintbrushes and blank paper on the table, her eyelashes drooping: ”No.”

”Is there something you needed from me, teacher?”

She knew that Mr. Avalon wasn’t someone who would disturb her without good reason.

Since the joint examination up to now, Mr. Avalon had hardly called her, only calling her once on the day the national exam results were released to congratulate her for topping the country.

Afterwards when she came to Beijing, her family threw her an academic success celebration, and Mr. Avalon had called specifically to explain he hadn’t known about the celebration, as he wasn’t in Beijing and couldn’t make it back in time...

Except for these two instances, Nathalie Quinlan squinted her eyes, trying to recall if there were any other times he had called her.

Just today, he had called her twice.

She asked directly, and he didn’t beat around the bush. His tone gentle, he asked her, ”Is there something. Have you ever published any academic papers in journals or websites?”

”??”

Nathalie Quinlan drifted off for a moment, humming in response, seemingly surprised by Mr. Avalon’s question.

Mr. Avalon’s tone was quite calm, he added softly: ”It’s okay if not, I’m just asking.”

Nathalie Quinlan tapped lightly on the desk, thinking for a moment, just as he was about to give up: ”None? No...”

She seemed to remember something, slowly answering: ”...I think I did publish one.”

Mr. Avalon sounded clearly surprised, or rather, not expecting it: ”You did?”

”Mmh.” Nathalie Quinlan opened her computer, pulled up her past documents, and asked concisely: ”Would a website work?”

”As long as it’s an academic site.”

”Alright.” Nathalie Quinlan pulled up her records, leaned back in her chair, and said, ”I’ll send you the link.”

Elsewhere, at the Imperial Hotel lounge.

The Medical Association’s celebration banquet was taking place in the third-floor banquet hall, and it hadn’t ended yet.
