The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 928: Chapter 928: Indeed ’Living Up to Expectations

”How do you know?” Sadam Vinson blinked again and said, ”Nowadays, girls quite like the entertainment circle. What if Nathalie also wants to enjoy being adored by thousands? Didn’t Audrick also join?”

”She won’t get involved if she doesn’t want to; there’s no particular reason,” Amadeus Yancey said as he took out some gum from his pocket, held it between his fingers without eating it, and glanced at him, ”Maybe one day she... you’ll know.”

Nathalie could have entered the entertainment circle three years ago, given the popularity of Lighten Chaser, she didn’t even show her face—it’s clear she didn’t want to toy with the entertainment circle.

Whether to share that with Sadam Vinson, though, is up to Nathalie herself.

”Maybe one day she what?” Sadam Vinson, who only heard part of it, didn’t catch the drift and asked further.

Alfred Garland quietly reminded him from behind: ”Mr. Vinson, the competition has started.”

Sadam’s attention was indeed drawn to the competition.

...

The first round is a test, with a total score of 60 points.

On the LED screen, the scores and rankings are updated in real time.

Behind each student’s name is their school, followed by their current score.

Every three minutes, the scores are refreshed.

The atmosphere inside the venue is very tense and charged.

The scores for the first three minutes, as expected by everyone, show that Caryn Zachmann and Evelyn Quarles are closely matched.

Caryn Zachmann, 8 points.

Ranked second, Evelyn Quarles, 6 points.

The others mostly scored between 2-3 points, showing that Caryn Zachmann and Evelyn Quarles are solving problems much faster than others.

As soon as the scores were released, Alfred Garland and Sadam Vinson kept their eyes glued to the ranking updates on the LED screen. After several pages refreshed, they finally saw Nathalie Quinlan’s name on the last rank of the last page.

Ranked 066, Nathalie Quinlan, Qing University’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, 0 points.

points.

Last.

Although this result was ’as expected’, disappointment was still evident on the faces of Alfred Garland and Sadam Vinson.

Amadeus Yancey raised his eyebrows, also somewhat surprised, but he just looked up at the girl on stage to see what she was doing.

...

In the judges’ row, scores from the first refresh come up.

Adelle Wafford, the most complacently triumphant, her student ranks first, solidly outpacing Evelyn Quarles for a good start, she can’t help but smile.

Especially when she sees Nathalie still at bottom, her face couldn’t stop beaming.

Others also looked her way.

Some were envious, others felt it was expected.

In the front row, Master Carlo didn’t seem to react much to his student being second place. He was composed, seemingly confident of victory.

It was Shawn Norton who couldn’t keep his composure first, turning his head to speak to Mr. Avalon, ”What’s going on with Nathalie, isn’t 0 points too...”

Mr. Avalon said nothing.

Giordano Yancey, having heard Shawn speaking, took a small sip of tea, his imposing eyes dark and composed, uttered, ”Don’t rush, let’s see.”

*

As the scores were updated a second and third time.

Evelyn Quarles’ scores began to rise above Caryn Zachmann’s.

Nathalie was still on the last page, not zero points anymore, but still single-digits. Even the second to last had accumulated 16 points, while her score lingered in the single digits.

Many medical students in the venue came to watch the show.

Aside from focusing on the first place competition, they were also tracking the last place.

Nathalie Quinlan’s name firmly stayed at last place, gradually causing murmured discussions to spread around—all talking about Nathalie!

”Coming in last is worse than not participating, just like the forfeiture in previous years.”

”What is Qing University doing this year? Why bring a freshman? After ten minutes, she only has 8 points. The first round solidly secures the bottom score.”
