The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 923: Chapter 923: Nathalie is Quite Serious This Time

They arrived late, for a competition that began at nine-thirty, they reached at nine.

These people have privileges in Beijing, getting tickets to an academic contest that no one watches was a piece of cake for them.

For a competition like this, besides those involved in the medical field, there weren’t many spectators.

There was still half an hour before the competition started, and the large venue had only a sparse audience of a hundred or two.

Apart from the two hundred or so audience members, those present were mainly journalists, with their long and short cameras set up and pointed at the stage, waiting to broadcast live, or for some platforms that were not broadcasting live to record footage for later news reports.

Sadam Vinson thought he was early enough by arriving half an hour early for the nine-thirty competition, but he was surprised when he saw someone who had arrived even earlier in the front-row VIP seats. He sauntered over and asked nonchalantly, ”Amadeus, here so early?”

Seeing Amadeus Yancey there, he looked around, seemingly searching for someone, but after not finding anyone, he turned back and asked, ”Where’s Nathalie? Isn’t she with you?”

Amadeus Yancey had slept late the night before and had to get up early to watch Nathalie Quinlan’s competition; with her not by his side, he was less inclined to rein in his disposition. His dark pupils were cold and indifferent as he lazily replied, ”Background.”

”She’s gone to the background so early?” Sadam Vinson touched his nose in surprise and sat down next to the man: ”I haven’t seen her this eager before; it’s not her style... really strange.”

Nathalie Quinlan has always been lazy.

Sadam Vinson, who had known her for several months, was very clear about this.

Someone who would time her arrival just punctually for college entrance exams was unusually early this time, more than half an hour ahead of schedule, even going to the background early to prepare; it was all too illogical.

Amadeus Yancey’s thin, crimson lips lifted slightly in a mischievous arc as he half-squinted his eyes and simply said, ”Someone needs to be put in their place, she’s not happy about it.”

Mocking Chinese Medicine year after year, taking the top spot annually—wasn’t that crossing Nathalie Quinlan’s bottom line? If it weren’t for this reason, the Chinese Medicine department probably couldn’t have even coaxed her into participation.

Amadeus Yancey was aware of this, but he didn’t ask, as Nathalie herself hadn’t mentioned it.

Sadam Vinson was confused after listening and turned to ask Alfred Garland, who was nearby, ”Alfred, how’s Nathalie prepared? Any chance she could rank this time?”

Alfred Garland, who was just standing there, looked at Govert Griffin and others beside him after hearing the question. Not understanding why he brought up the awkward topic, he struggled with his response for a long time before saying, ”Ms. Quinlan said she doesn’t want to end up in last place, nor does she intend to settle for second last...”

His meaning was very clear.

What Nathalie Quinlan had said was not about aiming for second-to-last—it was up to you to speculate on her possible final ranking.

”Anyway, this morning, Ms. Quinlan said she hadn’t finished reading the competition-related books Mr. Avalon sent her,” said Alfred, eyes on his nose.

At that allegation.

Sadam Vinson and others fell silent for a long time, finding themselves at a loss for words.

Not even having finished reading the books, let alone highlighting key points to remember, or memorizing concepts...

Sadam Vinson, with a complex expression and after a long while, finally mustered a forced smile in an attempt to preserve Nathalie’s dignity: ”Ah...no big deal... Nathalie is just a freshman, what matters is participation, right! I don’t believe any damn freshman can take first place!”

His words rang with confidence, Amadeus Yancey crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back against the chair back, giving him only an indifferent glance.

In previous years, the top spot had been taken by overseas medical representatives; this year, with Nathalie participating, who would take first wasn’t so certain after all!
