The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 396: Chapter 396: To Take Away Nathalie’s Test Paper_1

”Nathalie Quinlan scored the first perfect score in the history of Tsinghua University.”

As soon as the perfect score was announced,

the room fell silent as the grave.

Adelle Wafford doubted her ears, gripping the edge of the table so hard her veins bulged, unable to snap back to reality for a long time!

How could Nathalie possibly score a perfect score?

She had specifically checked Nathalie’s grades, which were nothing extraordinary in McKinney, yet there were numerous provincial top scorers attending this exam, and none of them got a perfect score. Was this some kind of joke?

She took a deep breath, still harboring a glimmer of hope, ”Could there be a mix-up with the test papers? Are you sure it was Nathalie?”

The teacher who was grading the papers became uncertain due to her query, picked up the test paper to check the name, and showed her: ”It’s Nathalie Quinlan, look, isn’t it written here in the name section? Nathalie Quinlan. The student from No. 1 Middle School in McKinney.”

Adelle mechanically took the test paper, lowered her head, and stared intently at the two characters on the paper — Nathalie Quinlan!

The characters written with a water-based pen were bold and unrestrained, their personality shining through the paper, each stroke exuding an air of unyielding defiance.

Like a proud and untamed lion!

Her forehead throbbed fiercely, unable to calm down, her mind went blank, incapable of any reaction.

And right at that moment, Derliand Gober poked her side with a tone that was neither gentle nor firm, ”Professor Wafford, your standards are really too high. If your Clinical Department doesn’t want this student with such scores...”

Who said she didn’t want her!

It was as if someone was choking her; she opened her mouth to speak, but it felt like her throat was stuffed with cotton, unable to make a sound.

Her expression was awkward, truly hard to look at!

Where had she expected Nathalie to perform so well, to actually score a perfect mark? A perfect score — such naturally talented students were what countless teachers dreamed of, the kind of prospects they longed for. If she’d known that Nathalie’s grades were so good, she would never have uttered the words of rejection before!

She had made those comments under the impression that Nathalie’s grades were poor!

The more cheerfully Adelle had spoken before, the more she regretted it now.

But Derliand Gober wasn’t giving her any chance to regret, barricading her way out slyly, ”Since Professor Wafford looks down on this student, our Finance Department still has a spot open. I’ll ask her during the interview if she’d like to join our Finance Department — she can set her conditions!”

The other departments were not to be outdone.

”Hold on, Professor Gober, don’t hog them all for your Finance Department. Leave one for our Physics Department. I think Nathalie is a promising student for studying physics.”

”Stop talking nonsense. With her math skills so strong, wouldn’t studying Architecture be excellent? We could have another great architect in the country!”

Derliand Gober chuckled, his attitude in poaching was very assertive, not giving an inch, ”Let’s not argue, folks. I think Finance is the way to go. Although we admit quite a few students each year in our Finance Department, we’ve never had one who scored a perfect mark. I won’t let her go, whatever it takes this time.”

Tsinghua University had two crown jewel departments, one was the Finance Department, and the other was Adelle Wafford’s Clinical Department.

Fearing that Adelle might change her mind, he reminded her again, ”Professor Wafford, you just said you didn’t want Nathalie Quinlan. You can’t go back on your word and then come to compete with me.”

Adelle’s facial muscles trembled violently, as if she had been slapped in the face; her cheeks flushed, she held the paper and couldn’t speak for a long time. After what seemed like an eternity of deep breaths, she managed to squeeze out, ”I need to take this paper with me.”

Everyone in the room had been arguing about which department to go to, and when they heard her words, they all turned to look at her—

The paper hadn’t been entered into the records yet; if Adelle took it away, how would they calculate this score.
