The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Nathalie’s Charm Appeals to Both Men and Women_1

Nathalie Quinlan’s quick reflexes caught the cup before it could tip over, spilling only a bit of water on her wrist. The water was warm rather than hot, but it dampened her sleeve significantly.

The waiter’s heart raced with fear, almost on the verge of tears, as she hastily pulled out a napkin to wipe Nathalie’s sleeve, while frantically apologizing, ”I’m sorry, it wasn’t intentional, I’m so sorry.”

Most of the customers at Imperial Hotel came from prestigious backgrounds, not the type service staff like her would want to provoke. The wages were high, but so was the turnover rate each month.

Just a few days ago, a colleague of hers accidentally splashed a bit of soup and stained a customer’s clothes. The mistake cost her a hundred thousand yuan in damages and her job to boot.

She was afraid the same would happen to her.

But while she was in the midst of her panicked apology, a cool hand took the napkin from her and said casually, ”It’s fine, it’s just a wet sleeve—it’ll dry in a bit.”

The waiter looked up with tears rimming her eyes.

Nathalie Quinlan, seeing her about to cry, couldn’t help but think of Jhovany Sullivan, wondering how Jhovany and the others were doing with their classes at McKinney. Without her attending, she worried Freddy Cagwin might relapse into his old ways with the crowd outside.

Thinking of the people at McKinney, her gaze softened, and she reassured the girl more gently, ”Really, it’s okay, don’t cry. Be careful, or your manager might see you.”

So gentle.

She was so cool before, but now so, so gentle.

The female waiter’s heart beat faster, inexplicably rapid, and she dared not look back at her.

Oh no, how could she be so charmed by a miss like this?

”Pour me another glass of water, please?” Nathalie said, dabbing at her sleeve with the napkin, then spoke to her.

The waiter noticed Nathalie’s beautiful eyes again, her neck flushing, she hurriedly responded, ”Right away.”

Before long, she returned with a glass of water, this time with two slices of lemon and ice cubes added.

Nathalie Quinlan stared at the lemon soda in front of her, taken aback.

She remembered ordering plain water, so the lemon soda was?

The waiter was embarrassed, turning her head away as she said shyly, ”Um... about earlier, I’m sorry, this glass of lemon soda is on me. I’m sorry, and, thank you.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she ran away as if chased by a ghost.

Nathalie Quinlan, observing the beverage that had appeared on her table, began to feel a headache. Could she say that she just ate too much and couldn’t drink any soda now?

Meanwhile, Shawn Norton was watching the whole scene, especially noticing how the waiter’s face turned red as she fled from their table. He eyed Nathalie with an expression that was hard to put into words and said, ”You know, you shouldn’t just casually make eye contact with little girls.”

Nathalie Quinlan: ”?”

When had she ’casually’ made eye contact with anyone?

Apparently seeing what she was thinking, Shawn Norton said with a complex expression, ”Little girls don’t have much willpower, you... don’t lead them astray...”

He didn’t say everything on his mind. He meant that not every girl outside was like herself, both attractive and enticing.

Just in case the female waiter got the wrong idea, thinking everyone was like her, that would be trouble.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t grasp his meaning, mainly because she hadn’t thought that much about it and had completely missed the waiter’s flustered appearance. She considered it a minor incident and looked up to ask, ”Are you free tonight? Want to have dinner together? My treat.”

Shawn Norton glared at her, saying irritably, ”If you are treating, how could I not have time? If I don’t have time, I’ll make time!”

Then, recalling something important, he asked, ”Right, I’ve been meaning to ask you and never got the chance. Have you decided what major you want to pursue at Tsinghua University?”
