The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 380: Chapter 380: Mr. Yancey Says You Like It With Ice_1

Inside.

As soon as Nathalie Quinlan entered, she saw Jethro Yapiter approaching her.

Today, Yapiter wore a silver-gray suit. His height of a little over 175 cm wasn’t considered tall in Beijing, but his facial features were well-defined and his spine always stood ramrod straight, as was his posture.

Upon seeing Ms. Quinlan, his face broke into a shallow smile as he came over to greet her, ”Ms. Quinlan.”

”Mhm,” Nathalie responded as a form of agreement while heading towards the elevator, ”Let’s go upstairs first.”

Yapiter glanced in the direction Adelle Wafford had gone and followed Ms. Quinlan into the elevator.

Silvania Ingram’s office was on the 16th floor, and the decor style was very similar to her office at McKinney headquarters, both featuring a bright and spacious aesthetic.

It wasn’t that the decoration was particularly exquisite, but the office had excellent lighting and a prime location, complete with a vast floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the cityscape.

Yapiter, knowing the layout well, led her inside, and once Nathalie entered, he headed to the bar area, ”Ms. Quinlan, please take a seat on the sofa. I’ll make you some juice.”

Maybe afraid she’d get bored, he added, ”The documents Mr. Ingram wanted you to see are all on the table by the sofa. You can take a look first.”

Nathalie’s head would start hurting just at the thought of orange juice, and seeing his busy figure, she could only suppress the irritability in her chest and walked towards the sofa.

The office had a real leather sofa in black, very simple in design with good quality leather.

She immediately saw the documents Yapiter mentioned on the table, probably seven or eight volumes stacked up quite thickly.

Nathalie walked over, picked up a volume at random, and settled down in a corner of the sofa.

She had barely sat down when she heard Yapiter’s voice from inside.

”Those are the research projects seeking funding from Pinecone Group this year. Mr. Ingram’s intention is for Ms. Quinlan to make the decisions.”

”Mhm.”

Nathalie squinted her eyes, looking down through her eyelashes.

On the white cover of the document, a line of regular script was printed—Research on the Application Value of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Neurosurgery.

A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes; she hadn’t expected that the first project she picked up would be related to medical science.

Just then, Yapiter came out with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Seeing her leaning on the sofa and focusing on the document in her hand, his mouth curved slightly, saying, ”There are quite a few medical research projects seeking our funding this year. If I remember correctly, two or three of them are specifically on the brain. Coincidentally, two of them deal with neurological studies.”

As a finance major and a high achiever, he didn’t know much about medicine.

The only clue was the names on the document covers, and Yapiter couldn’t remember whether it was two or three projects that had the name of neurosurgery listed on them.

He bent down and placed the glass in front of Ms. Quinlan, smiling, ”Ms. Quinlan, I have added two ice cubes for you. Mr. Ingram said that Mr. Yancey whom she met at your Birthday Banquet told her that you like to add ice in your drinks, and she made a point of reminding me to remember to add ice for you before she left.”

Nathalie, who was originally focused on the document, found her attention diverted by his words, and a heat began to build inside her once more.

She lifted her eyelids, her slender fingers resting on the document, her eyes wild and restless, ”Actually, there’s no need to add...”

She stopped mid-sentence, unsure why she was even bothering to explain.

But she had already said it.

After a two-second pause, her irritation grew, ”I can drink it without ice too.”

Since the morning, Yapiter noticed she was half-squinting as if she hadn’t quite woken up yet, appearing disinterested in everything. Only now did he finally see an expression other than sleepiness on her face. He chuckled lightly, teasing, ”But you prefer it with ice, right?”
