The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Feeling Bad, This Contrast Is Too Striking_1

Jhovany Sullivan couldn’t help but clench her fists, muttering to herself, ”No way, did I do that badly? I can’t even guess my score? Then... doesn’t that mean Nathalie only has the option of coming back for the college entrance exam?”

Freddy Cagwin didn’t quite believe it and asserted with certainty, ”Her grades couldn’t be that bad!”

He didn’t know how well Nathalie Quinlan had really done, but she had been outstanding since she was young; it didn’t make sense for her academic performance to be poor.

Besides, Nathalie had done well on her previous two exams; it didn’t make sense for her to do so badly this time.

”...” Everyone fell silent.

Clerent Miller said with discomfort in her heart, ”Nobody said Nathalie’s grades were bad, but she went to take the test for Tsinghua University, right? I heard this year’s independent admission exam for Tsinghua was particularly difficult, and the cries of anguish online were everywhere. It’s normal for someone to have an off day, so isn’t it normal she didn’t do well this time?”

Her words were like the final nail in the coffin, implying Nathalie didn’t have a chance of being admitted.

The atmosphere in the classroom became heavy again, with a long silence ensuing.

Someone in the crowd quietly mentioned, ”I just went to the bathroom, and I heard Olivia Barness from Class B say that she called Ghania Quinlan. Ghania told her she did exceptionally well this time and could score around 580, which would secure her a spot at Tsinghua...”

Now, not just the others, but everyone in Class A fell silent.

Their facial expressions were ugly.

When Nathalie was not performing well, that Ghania had to outdo herself and perform extraordinarily; it was frustrating!

Jhovany Sullivan bit her lip, her apricot eyes scanning the faces of everyone who looked so distressed they didn’t want to speak, and quietly returned to her seat. She pulled out her phone from her backpack and sent Nathalie a message.

*

Back in the office, Nathalie Quinlan’s papers had already been graded.

Unlike the quick and smooth experience of grading Ghania’s papers, the teachers reviewing the papers checked them over and over again, for fear of making a mistake, finally putting the papers down with solemn expressions, and glancing at each other.

”I’m finished,” said one.

”So am I,” said another.

”I’ve checked my part as well,” chimed in another.

...

All the teachers had finished grading; it was time to announce the scores.

Adelle Wafford had been just watching from the side, noticing them ticking boxes on the papers without seeing many deductions, and now a bad feeling overtook her. Her breathing unsteady, she stared at the papers and blurted out, ”If we’re done, then let’s add up the scores!”

Adding up the scores meant calculating the total score.

Language, Mathematics, Foreign Language, Chemistry, Biology...with so many subjects, a total score needed to be computed.

Ghania’s papers just now scored 588 points, which was already a high mark.

Adelle had thought, based on what she knew, that with such difficult questions this time, Nathalie would score just over 300 at most. Now, she wasn’t so sure and estimated a rough score in her mind.

500.

The score of 500 was neither high nor low, not shameful to mention, but not enough to get into Tsinghua University.

”Can we tally it now? About how many points did she score?” Adelle Wafford was anxious for the first time to know a student’s score.

With her urging, the teachers discussed their grading amongst themselves.

”I didn’t find any places to deduct points on my part.”

”Neither did I.”

”...Same here.”

The atmosphere in the room became tense.

Derliand Gober, after listening, was taken aback for a moment. His brow furrowed, and with a bit of irritation, he questioned the teachers, ”You all graded it without any deductions? What does that mean? Did this Nathalie Quinlan actually achieve a perfect score?”

The teachers looked at each other, and one of them, representing the rest, met Derliand Gober and Adelle Wafford’s line of sight and said gravely, ”Professor Gober, Professor Wafford, Tsinghua University may have found a true genius this time!”
