The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 371: Chapter 371: A Hair Dryer Costs Six Figures_1

She thought for a while but couldn’t find a reasonable explanation.

Unable to figure it out and not bothered to think further, she shifted her pose and lazily deleted her intrusion records with a hand on the keyboard.

The light in the room fell on her brow bone—wildly attractive!

Just then, her phone on the desk rang. It was a call from Jethro Yapiter.

Nathalie Quinlan leaned back, resting against the chair, and answered the call.

”Hello.”

Her voice was quite husky.

Jethro Yapiter, long accustomed to her casual tone, went straight to the point, ”Ms. Quinlan, which hotel are you staying at? I’ll come to pick you up tomorrow morning. What time do you think you can get up?”

Nathalie Quinlan glanced at the time displayed on her laptop. It was half-past ten. Her dark eyes narrowed as she lazily replied, ”No need, I’ll take a cab over.”

”If I can get up, it’ll be nine-thirty in the morning. If not, I’ll head over after ten.”

Pinecone Group had always funded various scientific research projects, including medical research, biological development... Silvania Ingram was recently on a business trip in Mundania, unable to return in time, and since Nathalie happened to be in Beijing, she was asked to help keep an eye on these projects, to filter out which could continue to receive funding and which were attempting to embezzle in the name of research.

Having just towel-dried her hair, the tips began to drip again, with a couple of drops trickling down her neck. Nathalie became slightly irritated, furrowed her brows, and stood up to head to the bathroom while nonchalantly asking him on the phone, ”What time will those people arrive tomorrow?”

”I’ve set it for nine-thirty.”

Without any hesitation, Jethro Yapiter immediately offered on the other end of the phone, ”If you can’t get up in the morning, I can have them come at ten instead.”

Nathalie Quinlan found a hairdryer in the drawer and glanced at the brand—a seemingly unremarkable, small black hairdryer that turned out to be from an international first-line brand. She remembered this one was even a limited edition, not excessively expensive but not cheap either, probably in the six figures...

Looking again at the facial cleansers and creams that Amadeus Yancey had prepared for her on the washstand, they were all on par with the hairdryer.

Nathalie Quinlan pinched the bridge of her nose as her irritation grew stronger.

First-class airplane tickets, a whole box of clothes in the closet, and all these little knick-knacks... each thing wasn’t cheap. Last time she gave him a sapphire cufflink, what shall she give this time?

She recalled the items she brought in her backpack.

This trip was rushed; being naturally lazy, she had planned to find a hotel in Beijing first, and as for other things, just buy them on the spot.

So she hadn’t brought any clothes, her backpack felt empty, with hardly anything in it.

The only presentable item seemed to be a bottle of small pills she still had left.

Nathalie Quinlan pursed her lips, pondering over the possibility of giving the small pills as a return gift when the person on the other end of the phone, probably having waited in vain for her response, called out uncertainly, ”Ms. Quinlan, is ten o’clock too early? Should I push it back another half hour?”

Nathalie Quinlan snapped back to reality, realizing she had zoned out and getting irritable again.

The light in the room made her brow bone look quite untamed. She briefly came to her senses, set the phone down in amplification mode, and while picking up the hairdryer and plugging it in, said, ”I’ll be there at nine sharp.”

”Alright, I’ll wait for you downstairs,” he responded.

Gazing at her reflection in the mirror, her appearance was sleepy and slightly devil-may-care, Nathalie declined, ”No need, I can go up by myself.”

Jethro Yapiter, aware that she preferred to keep a low profile, probably not wanting to draw too much attention, chuckled and said, ”Fine, then I’ll wait for you in the upstairs office.”
