The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 385: Chapter 385: Not Nervous at All_1

Amadeus Yancey was caught off guard by Nathalie Quinlan’s earnest theory on the nutritional value of free-range eggs versus regular eggs. It wasn’t until Nathalie had finished eating that he came back to his senses.

His deep eyes gazed at her, bright as the spring sun, ”What’s your plan for getting there later?”

Nathalie, usually too lazy to get up early, rarely had breakfast, and it had been a long time since she had such a full and healthy meal in the morning, which made her feel drowsy and sleepy again. Hearing his question, she looked up carelessly, ”Ah? I’ll just take a cab.”

Alfred Garland saw her half-closed eyes and her scatterbrained appearance and felt even more certain she wouldn’t do well on the exam, but he was still not at ease with Nathalie going by herself. He immediately said, ”It’s not easy to hail a cab today, I heard that Tsinghua University area is under traffic control, and ordinary cars can’t get in.”

?

Traffic control?

Nathalie hadn’t thought about that, she assumed that there wouldn’t be many people taking the exam, so she could just take a cab when the time came.

Alfred Garland, knowing she usually didn’t pay much attention to minor details and probably hadn’t anticipated this situation, quickly said, ”Don’t worry, Ms. Quinlan, Amadeus and I can take you there.”

Nathalie instinctively declined, ”...no need, isn’t there the subway? I’ll just take the subway over.”

Amadeus Yancey’s apartment was very close to Tsinghua University, at most a two-stop subway ride. Walking there would take a bit longer, about half an hour.

Compared to staying in a hotel, this was already quite close.

While she was speaking, the man sitting opposite had already stood up and picked up the car keys. With his tall height and long legs, wherever he stood he presented an unmistakable presence, elegant and extraordinary.

”Let’s go, I’ll drive you.”

Nathalie: ...

Amadeus Yancey sensed her mentality of not wanting to trouble him since she arrived in Beijing, yet as if he hadn’t noticed, he maintained his usual languid and noble demeanor, saying lightly, ”Taking the subway now might not get you there in time. If I drive you, we’ll get to Tsinghua in at most ten minutes.”

”Once you’re at the school, you’ll still need some time to find the exam location.”

Nathalie pondered for a moment, and it seemed he was right; she pursed her lips and didn’t insist any further, murmuring an ’Mhm’ as she stood up from her seat, ”I’ll go pack up my stuff.”

Amadeus Yancey watched her go inside and said to Alfred Garland, ”Wait here for me, I’ll go downstairs and start the car.”

”Alright.” Alfred Garland had no objections.

After he left, Audrick Zachmann happened to call. Alfred Garland picked up Audrick Zachmann’s phone call.

”Hello, Mr. Zachmann.”

The person on the other end of the phone seemed to be outside working, the background noise quite loud, probably having taken time out to make this phone call, ”How’s Nathalie doing, have you guys headed to the school yet? Has she been reviewing these past few days in the hotel?”

Alfred Garland hadn’t told him that since Nathalie arrived in Beijing, she hadn’t stayed in a hotel, and instead, she was tricked by Amadeus into cohabiting in his apartment. Hearing his words and not knowing how to respond, Alfred Garland glanced in the direction of Nathalie’s room, covered the phone with his hand, and said in a lowered voice, ”Well, it’s just... like that... Mr. Zachmann, don’t get your hopes up too much about Ms. Quinlan getting into Tsinghua.”

Because for these past two or three days, he hadn’t seen Nathalie look at a book, let alone review!

But Ms. Quinlan had the identity of McKinney’s miraculous doctor; it didn’t matter if her academics weren’t good. With Amadeus around, it would still be easy for Ms. Quinlan to get into a university.

It just depended on which university.

Tsinghua... Anyway, he found it difficult!

...

Nathalie Quinlan had no idea that Alfred Garland had already privately concluded that she wouldn’t be admitted to Tsinghua University.

She changed her clothes. Today she wore a blue pullover sweater. It was a dry and sandy October in Northern Beijing, so she didn’t wear long pants, just casually slipped on some shorts underneath, showing off her legs that were both white and straight. On her feet, she wore a pair of small leather boots, looking both beautiful and cool.
