COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Now, only 20 minutes have passed since Horikita left from corridor.

Although most students choose to wear hotel’s yukata, there are some students who don’t like this attire and prefer to wear their own clothes.

So, Horikita might have changed back into her favorite casual clothes during this time.

Then she found out Hikigaya asked her out, and then she went out.

Or, there is actually another possibility.

Because she was going out to meet him, she changed out of the yukata that looked dirty.

Damn it! He just imagined this girl in a red-black coloured revealing night outfit because of this.

Hikigaya-kun felt like he was going to become weird after seeing two waves of love confessions in a row today.

Love-brained.

No, he can’t be love-brained.

”Ibuki-san kept pestering me. So I had to go to the ski resort today.” Horikita sat down, adjusted herself a little, ”She seemed to want to compete with me. But I took advantage of her during sports festival, so it’s only natural that I agree to her request.”

”...Horikita, you have grown.”

”Eeh...Hngh?” Horikita made a dumb noise, because what does that suddenly have to do with topic?

Then he took out the photo he got from Sakura from his pocket, ”Then consider this a gift for you. The fact that you are able to come to Class C is an improvement compared to last year. I haven’t prepared any reward for you yet....” Hkigaya-kun quickly pushed the photo to Horikita to cover his own embarrassing moment, ”So, this is for you.”

Horikita’s eyes were fixed on photo that Hikigaya pushed over to her.

The people in the photo are her and Ibuki, and there is even a picture of her, Ibuki, and Hiyori eating fried noodles together in a restaurant at the ski resort.

”These are...Did Sakura-san take the picture?”

”Yes. I hired her today, and she is responsible for taking your photo. When you study for 10 hours a day, you rarely have time to relax with friends. It’s a rare opportunity to go on a school trip, so wouldn’t it be nice to leave some memories?”

”Friends...” Horikita doubted this.

Because last year Hikigaya-kun forced her to become friends with Kushida first, but she was a troublesome person.

Horikita was also very dissatisfied with some of her actions.

But she can’t completely deny Kushida.

Because there are some things that only Kushida can do.

Then she passively learned about her past and lost to her, so Horikita could only complete the task of protecting Kushida.

However, Yagami seems to have dropped out of school, so Kushida is not in any danger now.

Then she changed her class, and Horikita relaxed a bit.

But the thing about friends...

”There are many kinds of friends. The kind you eat with, the kind you nod to, the kind you use to socialize, and then there’s kind you have close friends with, please understand they are hard to come by.”

”So... do you have such a friend?”

”....” Hachiman doubted whether it’s really the girl he knows sitting in front of him.

This raises a good question.

Does Hikigaya-kun have such a friend now?

To say yes, or no, is to say no, which is too decisive.

”I think Hirata is a nice person. We can still have a good relationship even after graduation.”

”Oh.” Horikita nodded but didn’t anything for a while at all. Very awkward situation. ’It seems that Hikigaya-kun has already thought about what to do after graduation.....’

”So after you graduate—--”

’Today, I was suddenly called out by Hashimoto-kun. I thought something happened, but he turned out to be asking me about my relationship with Hikigaya-kun. If I think about it carefully, Hashimoto-kun seems to be confessing his love to me. I am not interested in this kind of thing....’

But one thing touched her.

That is, after everyone arrived at the school trip, some girls in same group would say something irrelevant, saying, ”Horikita-san, you went to Class C because Hikigaya-kun is there. It’s so romantic!”

She went to Class C because Hikigaya-kun was there.

”We are very optimistic about you two as a couple.”

”If one skips a class, the other can still catch up.”

”It’s like you have to overcome great difficulties to be together.”

”I feel your persistence.”

They are all about love topics.

In the eyes of others, she seemed to be dating Hikigaya-kun, just like Hashimoto today.

It’s just that both sides just use each other as a shield, because both she and Hikigaya believe that dating during high school is detrimental to study and class confrontation.

So, both sides are very rational.

The fake relationship method can make some boring people give up and save both parties the trouble.

It’s probably just this kind of relationship.

But even Horikita had to think carefully. ’Because we are in high school now, and we have to study and face class competition. So what about college?’

’During this cultural festival, my brother said that he was dating Tachibana-senpai. In other words, my brother has the same idea as us, believing that studying is the main thing during high school, but this is not the case in college. Kushida-san also talked to me privately after I transferred to Class C. Telling me the dating statistics in high school. If you fall in love here, the probability of eventually getting married is very low, so it is not reliable....’

Horikita is thinking very deeply right now, which made the boy sitting opposite her even more terrible regarding his comment earlier.

”So after you graduate...”

What Horikita wanted to say was that you already have some ideas about the future, so do you think it’s better to fall in love in college?

But when she asked, Hikigaya-kun also opened his mouth because it was getting on nerves, ”I just saw you in the corridor.”

”.....” Horikita’s body seemed to be tensed up instantly when she got asked this question, ”Nothing happened. Hashimoto-kun confessed his feelings to me, and then I used you as a shield.”

”Oh.” At this moment Hachiman nodded with a blank face.

”O...O” Horikita looked at the tomato juice on the table, which was probably bought by Hikigaya-kun for her, but she always felt that the atmosphere was a little silent.

She didn’t want to keep her mind on this. ’I haven’t finished reading the book I brought....’

She has also been shaken by her groupmates these days, and doesn’t like this mentality because it makes it impossible for her to concentrate on her studies.

Then let’s end it quickly.

”By the way, what do you think about after you graduate from high school? Like going to college or something...”

”University...” Hikigaya-kun actually had a backup plan to marry after graduating from high school.

’Although I don’t know who the partner is, marriage should be certain. Then I can let my wife support me. It’s okay not to go to college. However, going to university can earn you a diploma, which is a stepping stone to finding a job, but if you don’t want to work, you don’t have to go to university.....But there are still benefits to going to college. You can gain more knowledge and enrich your experience. According to the information revealed by Kito, Sakayanagi’s class is planning to use points to buy me over to secure a spot in Class A.....’

If there is only one enemy, then you can buy and make him your own fighting force, then how can you lose?

So even if it is a difficult university to get into, Hachiman still has the opportunity to go there directly for free without taking an exam.

He has some contempt for wasteful behavior.

So when this opportunity to get something for free appeared before him, he felt that he would still seize it.

”I should go to college.”

”Really? Is there any particular university you want to go to?”

”Probably... not.” Hachiman hasn’t planned to get to this point yet, ”I have just decided it on the moment after you asked me.”

”Ah...” Horikita didn’t know what to say for a moment, because she felt she just influenced his thoughts, ”So your ambition remains the same? You still want to be a househusband.”

”…..” He always feel that Horikita is a bit aggressive now.
