COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

The team of Hikigaya and Ishizaki Daichi won a victory.

However, just like rules described above, because there are many participants, there will be a second or even a third round of competition.

Now there are a total of 4 teams standing out.

There were three teams from Ryuen’s class, and one first-grade team.

That is Utomiya and the others.

”Take a ten-minute break, and then start arranging a new round of matches.”

Before long, Hikigaya’s team was matched up with Utomiya’s team Class B, Department of Physical Education.

If you are matched with your own class, you can just pretend to fight and it will be over quickly.

But now opponent is not from the same class, so have to go ahead with it. Even if they lose to Utomiya, whose physical fitness is A, Hachiman and his team can still get a guaranteed 1 point each.

But other two teams are all students from his own class.

So in end there will definitely be a guaranteed minimum of 6 points.

In this way, out of 8 students in his class, only 2 have to pay for tickets, but you can still make a small profit of 4 cents.

This still gives a decent return on strategy of sending out only one seeded player.

”What an unexpected meeting.”

”But it’s not like that for us, Hikigaya-senpai.”

”.....” Hachiman felt that there was something else in other party’s words.

Soon, understood what junior was saying.

The players of both sides took their positions, and Gyutaro served first game.

However, he held tennis ball in his left hand, and when he threw yellow-green tennis ball up, he quickly threw racket.

Bump!

Bump!

Two voices sounded in succession.

One is sound of tennis racket hitting the ball, and other is of a tennis ball hitting net.

Because it did not cross tnet, this ball was considered a missed serve by Gyutaro.

”Hikigaya and Ishizaki’s team scores a goal.” The referee immediately made the decision with a blank face.

But this doesn’t seem to be a slip of the hand.

”Bang!”

”Bang!”

Three goals in a row.

All of Gyutaro’s serves failed to cross the net.

Lost 3 goals in a row.

The right to serve was Ishizaki’s turn, who stared at Gyutaro in surprise, because wasn’t this junior classmate super cool?

Previously, in uninhabited island exam, this boy Gyutaro was teamed up with a girl from his own class, probably his twin sister whose body...well it’s not suitable for such exam.

But guy still acted like a lone wolf, dragged his group’s score in Top 10, that was Gyutaro in front of him?

Let’s not even talk about Utomiya, his scores are known by everyone....

So, how come such a scary duo, but it turns out the guy is just a fool?

”Banngggg!”

Ishizaki first served a normal serve, and tennis ball fell at Gyutaro’s feet, but he did nothing.

This is first goal.

”Bump!”

Still the same.

The tennis ball clearly landed within Gyutaro’s reach, but he didn’t catch it.

In other words, ”That’s what it means.... Although, I don’t know your name. Consider yourself lucky....”

Scratch! Scratch!

”H-Hey, your neck is bleeding. Go easy, damn it!”

It’s very explicit.

In other words, Gyutaro gave up points for his own class and came to give points to Hikigaya and his team.

However, in response to other party’s self-abandonment, Class 2-C of still accepted the favor.

The battle between Hikigaya-kun and Utomiya’s team lasted less than 3 minutes, who stood aside like a poster.

The players from both teams had just stepped onto field and had completed the game before they had even stepped a few steps on ground.

”The team of Hikigaya and Ishizaki won two games in a ro-----”

In fact, it doesn’t take a discerning person to see that Gyutaro was just faking it and giving away points for nothing.

It’s also very explicit.

If it were an ordinary referee, he might think that athlete’s behavior was irregular and not in line with regulations.

But unfortunately, this is a high school for development, a place where strength is paramount and a place where school hopes that students will be smooth.

It is a place where you can buy anything using points.

Moreover, this time’s sports festival did not require students to be forced to not hide their strength, so fake fighting was allowed.

But price of bribing people is not low, so many students will not do it. They may only do it when it is a very important project or score.

After 15 minutes, Doubles tennis event in which Hikigaya participated was successfully completed.

8 people participated.

2 people were eliminated in the first round, -2 points entry fee.

2 people in second round, -2+2=0

2 people in final battle, +6 points

2 people finally won, +10 points.

Gained 14 points

”I really need to pay more attention to Hikigaya Hachiman.”

Although Katsuragi and his team had already lost, and brought -2 points to the class.

But he returned to base camp honestly.

Among them, Katsuragi received result of this doubles match.

Then current record was updated on the small blackboard again.

Grade 2

Class A: 662 points

Class B 613 points

Class C, 592 points

Class D, 528 points

Katsuragi put his left hand to his forehead, feeling troubled.

Because although Class A still has the most points, B seems to have been completely exhausted, and D is not moving much either.

Oh no, it seems that someone participated in project and then failed to score, so registration fee was deducted.

Don’t worry about this. But Class C is catching up really fast here.

Class C of Grade 2 is trying desperately to catch up.

Or maybe this is their stage.

There was no time to cheer before the next competition started urgently.

This is counterattack of Class 2-C

Perhaps because of the boost in morale, Hikigaya-kun was asked to go to the battlefield again, and this time he went to fight on horseback.

Ryuen cheated in this competition last year, and this year, perhaps with a chance to break through, he did not continue cheating.

It was another hour later before Hachiman could finally relax.

By this time, it was already an hour and a half before sports festival ended.

The scores of all classes were announced on huge LCD screen just south of the playground.

Grade 1

Class A (Amasawa) 688 points

Class B (Utomiya class) 513 points

Class C (Yagami’s original class) 478 points

Class D (Nanase) 555 points

Such scores may fluctuate occasionally, but it can only be said to be the last struggle.

After all, people are participating in the project all day long, and not iron-clad, so will get tired.

Can’t keep up physically.

If you register again and fail to get a ranking, then your class will only lose points, just like what happened to Katsuragi and Hashimoto.

Those who were physically fit had to withdraw regretfully because they had to participate in maximum number of events, 10, just like Kito from Class 2-A.

Meanwhile, Hachiman was watching second years’ scores.

Grade 2

Class A 665 points

Class B 611 points

Class C 644 points

Class D, 532 points

O ? O ? O !

What happened?

”Hikigaya, I lost to you.” While Hachiman was looking at class scores announced on LCD screen, a boy with slightly curly hair walked over with regret on his face.

”This time it was a failure for our class.”

This boy looks quite elegant, and he is vice-class monitor of Ichinose’s class, Ryuji Kanzaki.

Although he awakened during the last special exam where everyone agreed, Kanzaki-kun is still working very hard for the class.

Now he had a sense of disappointment that there was no way out even if he tried very hard, and this feeling of powerlessness hit him again.

”.....” Hachiman.

Kanzaki is still walking towards him with an expression that looks like he might want to have a life talk.

In other words, he actually hasn’t realized that this time cooperation between Ryuen’s class and them is an open conspiracy.

That’s why he is catching up now.

However, Kanzaki was feeling down, so Hikigaya consoled him.

”This school has special exams every month. Failure once or twice doesn’t mean anything. At the same time, even if you are unable to graduate from Class A in the end, it is not a fatal blow to your class.....”

”• _ •”

”We came to a strange but unique school, made reliable friends and spent a campus life together that was worth remembering and working hard. I think this was also a good high school li----”

”This means...” Kanzaki wanted to say that in order to get to this point, their class had made a plan to let students leave during last special exam in which everyone unanimously agreed.

So, one weakness has been reduced.

Then there should be some fighting power.

However, Hikigaya-kun now seems to think there is no hope for Class B.

So doesn’t it mean that even if you collect enough points to buy other party in the future, he will still be pessimistic?

Before Kanzaki could finish my words, heard Hikigaya continue, ”This is about the ranking of exam. Class A, where Sakayanagi is, still strong. Even if we can use strategies to reduce the gap between them, gap in hardware still exists.”

This time, Class C’s score is 644 points, but there are less than 5 people who can take action.

So, couldn’t surpass Class A.

Hikigaya-kun also understands the reason.

On one hand, Katsuragi got back the proud Koenji to continue playing.

On the one hand, although Ryuen’s class continued to take part in subsequent projects, could still hear that students from Class A also participated in many.

That is to say.

Sakayanagi still intervened with Ryuen’s counterattack.

If you don’t put her in play, you have to expect this result.

That’s why Hikigaya listed her as his arch enemy when he wanted to be promoted to a higher class.

Now idea has completely changed.

’I hope she can be so active in future exams and get as many points as possible. She got first place, and Ryuen’s class followed behind and drank soup.....Keep raising your score, Sakayanagi.’

”Hey, Kanzaki, do you have a good relationship with first-year students?” Hikigaya suddenly said at this time to change sad topic.

”First graders...Are you talking about Ishigami Kyo?” Kanzaki thought for a moment and remembered that he had taken Ishigami to tennis court to watch Hikigaya’s game.

That’s probably where Hikigaya saw.

”His family and mine know each other. He is one year younger than me, and we both went to the same school. Sort of growing up and playing together.”

In other words, this is Ryuji Kanzaki’s childhood friend.

Then should be no problem.

Hikigaya has some impression of Ishigami Kyo.

At the beginning, during treasure hunt on ship, Hachiman saw that he seemed to want to plead with Amasawa, asking for his novels from Yukinoshita but finally gave up.
