Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1296 - 663: The Giant Worm Besieges the City! (Part 3)

The alien invaders chose to attack the giant creature first!

”Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!”

The massive body of the giant creature, as large as a mountain, couldn’t dodge at all, and the shells struck it one after another.

For a moment, part of the creature’s body was shrouded in thick smoke.

”They really couldn’t resist making a move first.” Qi Xuefei said softly.

”Yes, it seems we can relax a bit now.” Ji Chaoyang, who was keeping a constant watch on the situation outside, said with a slightly relaxed tone.

The giant creature didn’t seem to have any thoughts about their previous shot, and now, the alien invaders had already begun their bombardment on it!

As for the reason the alien invaders were attacking it, Ji Chaoyang could guess.

A super giant beast without any Blood Pattern Bloodline was an entity completely beyond the alien invaders’ control in their eyes.

This creature could be considered an indigenous creature of Earth, with super high intelligence, so they thought this giant beast should be on the same side as the local humans.

The reason they hadn’t made a move for so long was probably because...

Ji Chaoyang glanced down.

Probably because of that misplaced shot earlier.

That shot possibly made them hesitate a bit.

That shot made them think that perhaps the giant creature wasn’t on the side of Earth’s humans; otherwise, why would humans attack it?

Moreover, since humans attacked it, it should also attack humans, right?

Thinking like this, that’s why they hadn’t acted against the giant creature during that period.

After all, they’ve been attacking for an hour now, pushing the frontline to around ten kilometers away; these humans were strong, and having one more ally was always beneficial.

Ji Chaoyang wanted to laugh.

Unexpectedly, that misplaced shot created a situation favorable to them.

Even the bombarded giant creature hadn’t retaliated against the humans attacking it and seemed to be positioning itself to encircle Crystal City.

As if... it wanted to protect Crystal City, to protect the World Tree.

Thus, they no longer waited and launched an attack immediately!

They decided to deal with the giant creature first.

Just a giant creature of flesh, no matter how big, it’s still just flesh and blood.

”Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!!!”

Countless missiles flew over, exploding on various parts of the giant creature.

The focus was particularly on the creature’s head.

However, amidst the billowing smoke, the giant creature continued to maintain its original speed, crawling forward.

The mountain-like head emerged from the smoke.

In that instant, people from the World Tree saw some wounds on its head, gruesome gaps of flesh, causing some discomfort.

But in the next moment, those wounds completely healed.

”Tsk tsk tsk...”

”Impressive, so formidable!”

”That healing speed, truly powerful!”

Ji Chaoyang indeed had a change in expression.

This trait resembles what Xu Ying mentioned before, about that giant from a thousand years ago.

But the giant had a compressed core that encapsulated all technological essence.

Could the giant creature also have one?

No...

It’s Crystal City!

This giant creature might be recovering using the energy from Crystal City!

The evidence is that Crystal City is currently emitting a brightness significantly higher than before!

If that’s the case...

Ji Chaoyang thought of the giant’s core that Xu Ying left behind before leaving.

That core could provide the giant beasts with immense power; if their frontline had pushed under the World Tree, into Crystal City, then this core could play a huge role.

But...

If this core were given to the giant creature, what would happen?

Ji Chaoyang watched the giant creature continue to crawl forward amid missile fire, taking a deep breath.

...

In the underground world, the flying shuttle continued its rapid advance, though its speed seemed to have decreased.

”Are we about to reach the complex area you mentioned?” Li Wenxi asked the driver, Old Yang.

She had Xu Xin release her from the wristband because she wanted to see this undeveloped underground world as well.

”Yes,” Old Yang nodded, ”In about two minutes, we’ll be navigating through a very complex terrain, and our speed will drop significantly, but don’t worry, there’s only about an hour left to our journey.”

”Do you guys always traverse the underground world like this? It must be exhausting...” Li Wenxi sighed.

”You call this exhausting? Moving through the underground world is one of the few times we can relax,” Old Yang replied without turning his head.

”Uh... I see...” Li Wenxi said awkwardly.

Xu Xin looked ahead.

The terrain had become very rugged. The ceiling seemed to have countless giant stalactites hanging down, and the ground was dotted with peaks ranging from a few hundred to a thousand meters.

The areas the flying vehicle could pass through became increasingly narrow.

The shuttle’s speed continued to decrease.

”Ah, up ahead... it’s blocked!” Li Wenxi exclaimed in surprise.

In the direction they were heading, a continuous stone wall connected the floor and ceiling of the underground world, spanning three to four kilometers and completely blocking their path.

At a glance, it seemed they had reached the end of the underground world.

However, upon closer inspection, the stone wall was riddled with numerous tiny openings that they could crawl through.

”Next, we’re going into this area,” Old Yang said.

”Support pillar?” Xu Xin suddenly asked, ”Is this the ’support pillar’ of the underground world?”

He had previously learned that the underground world was propped up by support pillars several hundred kilometers in diameter.

”You know about the support pillars?” Old Yang turned back in surprise, then said, ”This isn’t really a support pillar; it’s more like... the terrain surrounding a support pillar. But what’s enclosed by this kind of terrain is indeed a support pillar. And our World Tree is planted on this support pillar.”

So that’s why they need to traverse this rugged terrain.

”Ying?” At this time, Keke, who had been nestled in Xu Xin’s arms, suddenly twitched its ears, lifted its little head, and looked towards the stone wall they were about to enter. ”Ying?”

”What’s wrong, Keke?”

”Ying? Ying...”

Keke extended its tiny paw to tug at Xu Xin’s clothing.

Does this mean...

There’s danger inside?
