Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1287 - 660: War Finally Breaks Out! (Part 3)

But these sonic booms couldn’t slow down the speed of the hypersonic missiles at all.

By the time these sonic booms had just traveled one kilometer, the hypersonic missiles had already soared fifty kilometers away!

Then, the world plunged into a vast expanse of white light, and Ji Chaoyang and the others couldn’t clearly observe the external situation for several minutes; they could see nothing but white.

Gradually, the white light faded, and dozens of mushroom clouds slowly rose from locations tens of kilometers away from the World Tree, engulfing those densely packed aircrafts.

The entire forest was crushed and shattered by the shock wave of the sudden, terrifying explosion, like ripples spreading out after a stone abruptly plunges into water.

A great battle was about to erupt.

...

”You’ve finally arrived.”

A masked man stood in front of Xu Xin.

And now, they were right beneath the lush canopy of a World Tree.

This belonged to Shi Wanyun’s World Tree.

”Enter the World Tree first; outside is not completely safe.” the man said.

”Okay.”

Xu Xin turned his wristband, releasing Shi Wanyun alone.

”Already here?” Shi Wanyun glanced at her World Tree.

Then, she led everyone inside.

”To be honest, it wasn’t until I received the message that the ’gods’ mentioned among them there were defectors did I fully believe you all.” the man said.

”So, you must have brought us some needed information, right?”

Xu Xin didn’t waste words with him.

On the other side of the World Tree, a great battle was ongoing, and every moment was fought for by Ji Chaoyang and the others, and couldn’t be wasted.

”Yes, on the other side of Earth, I’ve already prepared a base for you there, but...”

The man hesitated for a moment, saying: ”Although you can teleport there using the device, I don’t recommend direct teleportation because the device belongs to those alien invaders. If you teleport, they’ll detect it.”

Xu Xin glanced at Xu Ying.

Xu Ying had teleportation abilities.

But unfortunately, she couldn’t teleport to places she hadn’t been, as the margin of error could be fatal.

But...

”If there is a coordinate point, can you teleport?” Xu Xin asked.

It was thanks to the coordinate provided by a common man that they teleported to this island.

”Coordinate teleportation?” The man was slightly taken aback, unaware of what Xu Xin and the others were discussing.

”...Not possible now.” Xu Ying shook her head, ”My abilities are very unstable at present, and simply using coordinates is very likely to result in higher errors, errors spanning kilometers.”

Kilometers? That’s quite a large margin...

”Excuse me, could you teleport without using the device?” asked the man surprised.

”Yes, but the error is several kilometers.” Xu Xin replied, ”Is that okay?”

”Several kilometers? That’s definitely not okay.” The man outright refused, ”Absolutely not. Your teleportation landing spot must precisely fall under the World Tree canopy, otherwise it could be detected by them.”

”The base I’ve prepared for you is only 300 kilometers away from their main base, very close. It’s the closest World Tree owned by humans. At such a close distance, their spies are everywhere. Even a deviation of a few kilometers would lead to immediate discovery!”

”Therefore, if you wish to teleport yourself, you must ensure the location is entirely under the World Tree.”

Xu Ying opened her mouth, then shook her head with a bitter smile: ”That’s not the main point. If we could teleport safely, even a deviation of ten kilometers wouldn’t be an issue. We have the Cloak of Concealment, after all. But...”

Xu Xin also realized the key point, his brow furrowed.

”This error of several kilometers may not be distance on the ground.” Shi Wanyun’s eyes moved, revealing Xu Ying’s true concern, ”It could be in any direction from the coordinates, perhaps?”

”Yes.” Xu Ying pursed her lips, nodding, ”I could end up several kilometers underground, or fall several kilometers from the sky, or even, if appearing on the ground, could directly bury into a mountain...”

Indeed, that was the crucial issue.

The ground doesn’t guarantee safety.

There is a greater chance of dying outright than safely teleporting.

”If not, then forget it. There are methods after all.” Xu Xin reassured.

”...Mm.” Xu Ying’s eyes dimmed slightly, ”Seems teleporting isn’t viable now. Sigh... Why is my power failing at this critical moment...”

Actually, Xu Ying wasn’t the only one with teleportation capability; the creature also had it.

But unfortunately, Xu Xin had previously inquired the creature about this and learned that its teleportation ability was slightly inferior to Xu Ying’s.

Unlike Xu Ying, its spacetime ability seemed more inclined towards time rather than space.

It could travel back millennia under specific conditions but couldn’t independently engage in long-distance spatial teleportation.

It initially teleported from the other hemisphere of Earth to nearby here by using the teleportation device it set up here.

It could only perform short-range teleportation, unable to exceed ten kilometers.

Beyond that, it would also experience position instability.

Compared to Xu Ying’s ability in space, it was far inferior.

However, at the time, Xu Xin didn’t mind.

Given Xu Ying was there, it wasn’t needed.

Now, the creature was naturally within his wristband, waiting for Xu Xin and Xu Ying to bring it over.

But he didn’t expect Xu Ying’s capability to develop problems.

No... he should’ve foreseen it.

Given Xu Ying’s ability had been so unstable lately, he should’ve considered this.

”Ah, no need to worry too much; I can still teleport accurately to places I’ve been before, which doesn’t affect our plan.” Xu Ying hurriedly explained upon seeing Xu Xin’s furrowed brow.

...That’s good.

Otherwise, without Xu Ying’s teleportation, their infiltration plan would become much more troublesome.

So now the question was, without Xu Ying’s teleportation, how to proceed...?

”What method do you think we should use to get there?” Shi Wanyun asked, ”Since you brought it up, you must have a method, right?”

”Of course.” The man nodded, pointing underground, ”You know where this is, don’t you?”

”Between our continent and the continent occupied by alien invaders, in the midst of the sea.” Xu Xin replied.

”Indeed, this place is only 200 kilometers, very close, to the continent occupied by alien invaders, and their base, as far as I know, is in the desert about 1200 kilometers from the coast.”

So, from their current position, it was only a 1200-kilometer journey to the alien invaders’ base.

”Fly over ourselves...?” Xu Xin pondered gently but then shook his head, ”No, that’s too conspicuous.”

”Flying overground wouldn’t work; the alien invaders have already deployed satellites on the surface. But... underground, they can’t see.”

The man’s words caused all three present to brighten their eyes.

The underground world!

Indeed, the underground world is interconnected!

”Enter underground through this World Tree, bypassing other World Trees’ realms below, reaching the prepared World Tree. The distance between the two World Trees is only about 1000 kilometers, and if we act quickly, we can reach there within two hours.”
