Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1254 - 649: The Altar and Petrified Creatures

The discussion went on for a long time.

When Xu Xin emerged from Ji Chaoyang’s room, three hours had already passed.

Changyin followed Xu Xin out of the room.

Changyin already knew that there could be significant danger here in the not-too-distant future, so he decided not to bring Xue Lan and Xiaohong over for now.

Xu Xin and the others were not confident about the dangers of the future, so he naturally would not let Xue Lan and Xiaohong come and take the risk.

But he would stay behind himself.

Because he possessed the power to control the stone statues and could help fend off potential alien invaders in the future.

”I won’t live inside the World Tree; I’ll stay in the Crystal City outside,” Changyin said to Xu Xin. ”A hundred days inside the World Tree equates to just one day outside. I don’t want to go that long without seeing Xue Lan and Xiaohong.”

”Hmm, that’s fine.”

The Stone Giant Beasts were also outside, so by staying outside, Changyin could control them at any time.

Outside the World Tree, Changyin directed these Stone Giant Beasts to the area under the World Tree’s canopy, entering the Crystal City.

Then, these statues lay down one by one in the Crystal City, resembling massive stone sculptures, motionless.

Changyin randomly picked a crystal house.

”I’ll just stay here,” Changyin said to Xu Xin.

”Alright, if anything happens, just make the outside statues move, and we’ll know.”

Xu Xin did not grant Changyin free access to enter and exit the World Tree.

Although he believed Changyin himself could be trusted, the origin of his petrification abilities was still unclear.

Therefore, even though the stone beast group controlled by Changyin was an immensely powerful force for the World Tree, Xu Xin could not yet regard him as one of their own.

Back in his villa inside the World Tree, Xu Xin sat on the sofa, letting out a long sigh.

”Ah, you’re finally back. It’s been two days.” Li Wenxi peeked out from the second floor, ”Have you dealt with Changyin’s situation?”

Although Xu Xin and the others only talked with Changyin for three hours, going out to pick up Changyin and then sending him off took place outside the World Tree.

The process of picking up and dropping off consumed at least half an hour outside, translating to two days inside the World Tree.

”Hmm, it’s temporarily dealt with.” Xu Xin rubbed his temples, feeling a bit of a headache.

”Changyin? Huh, what’s up with that guy? Tell us all about it!” Lou Fei’Er’s voice came from the second floor.

Then, the two women came down to the first floor, sitting beside Xu Xin.

”Uh... Changyin himself isn’t very sure, actually.”

Xu Xin said, feeling somewhat weary.

”Hmm? Really? So where is Changyin now? And that creature was with you before, right?” Li Wenxi asked curiously, ”What did you all talk about?”

”Changyin has moved outside. As for the creature, it promised Changyin that it would teleport to where Xue Lan and Xiaohong are and inform them about the situation here.”

Since Changyin agreed to stay here, he naturally needed to inform Xue Lan and Xiaohong that he wouldn’t be returning for now, or they’d be worried.

”Xue Lan and Xiaohong? Xiaohong has been found?” Lou Fei’Er asked in surprise.

Being one of the six who originally explored the underground world together, Lou Fei’Er clearly remembered that Changyin didn’t return to the surface with them because Xiaohong hadn’t been found.

”What’s really going on?” Li Wenxi grabbed Xu Xin’s arm and asked.

”Uh... is it just the two of you here?” Xu Xin glanced at the second floor, ”No one else up there?”

”I came over to play on my own. I don’t have any fixed tasks right now,” Lou Fei’Er waved her hand, ”Don’t bother looking; no one else is up there. Oh, a little one is sleeping up there.”

She was likely referring to Keke.

”Oh? Your task now is to maintain order here, right?” Xu Xin glanced at her.

”Yeah, but the people here are very obedient,” Li Wenxi explained for Lou Fei’Er, ”They hardly need managing.”

Some were extremely satisfied and cherished their lives here, survivors who’d escaped death, while others were from the Wei Family, a military lineage from the underground world.

In total, there were less than a thousand people, so indeed, there’s not much need for management.

”When more people arrive later, you’ll be busy.”

”Then it’s just right for enjoying a good time now. Oh, enough of that, explain the situation to us! I heard the complete Stone Giant Beasts have entered the Crystal City to hold the fort? Have we really regained control over those Stone Giant Beasts?”

After the stone statues attacked, there were always people on the underground region’s control platform observing external conditions, and this responsibility was given to Zhao Xiaochuan.

If anything changed outside, he would notify all the explorers.

”Yes, we’ve regained control.”

Xu Xin briefly explained Changyin’s situation to the two women.

”What? Leaving Xue Lan and Xiaohong down there again?” Li Wenxi seemed puzzled. ”Wouldn’t it be better to bring them up? Why insist on leaving them down there?”

”We can’t ensure our own safety, so Changyin naturally wouldn’t let his wife and son take risks,” Xu Xin sighed.

”That doesn’t seem right!” Li Wenxi retorted, ”Isn’t it safer here than in the underground world?”
