Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1291 - 662: Ferocious Bombardment and Counterattack – The Giant

In the dark underground world, a flying shuttle was moving quickly.

This flying shuttle was almost silent, even when traveling at a speed of over 500 kilometers per hour, it did not produce noticeable noise.

The underground world was vast, like an abyss, and in the vast darkness, this flying device was like a firefly, illuminating a small part of its vicinity.

But it was only a small part.

”Yawn...” Keke had grown tired of the monotonous scenery outside the window, her small body already curled up in Xu Xin’s arms, yawning and beginning to feel sleepy.

”Say, if we keep the lights on all the time, won’t we be easily discovered?” Xu Xin asked the man.

”Around here, we don’t need to worry about that for now, but after advancing another 200 kilometers, we’ll need to turn off the searchlights.” The man replied.

”Then in the darkness...”

”Don’t worry, the flying shuttle can scan the terrain within a kilometer clearly. Although the travel speed will decrease a bit, it will still be 400 kilometers per hour.”

”That’s good.” Xu Xin nodded, looking out the window again.

”By the way, I haven’t asked for your name yet.” Xu Xin suddenly said.

”My name...” The man paused for a moment and then smiled bitterly, ”My name, huh. I’ve almost forgotten it... My surname is Yang, you can call me Old Yang, that’s what everyone calls me.”

”Old Yang, if we succeed, what do you want to do?”

”Succeed...” Old Yang’s voice became slightly wistful, ”Haha... If you really succeed, then maybe I... Sorry, I don’t have any thoughts at the moment, I’ve never considered this. These things are too far away for me.”

”Have you really never thought about what to do after gaining freedom?”

”Gaining freedom?” Old Yang shook his head, ”For all these years, what we’ve thought about is how to let more people survive, survival itself is difficult, let alone freedom?”

That statement was truly heartbreaking.

”Before the survivors arrived, we were always trying to avoid the alien invaders’ experiments and slaughter on us. You know, watching your companions’ numbers decrease day by day, not knowing which day you’ll be chosen, suffer inhumane treatment, and then die on the lab table... We’ve lived in this fear for nearly a thousand years.”

Old Yang’s voice was low, and that tone sounded like someone recounting a nightmare from which they had awakened, drenched in cold sweat, to another person.

No, this wasn’t a nightmare, this really happened.

Xu Xin was silent.

”Yawn...” Keke slightly raised her small head.

”Later, the survivors appeared.” Old Yang’s voice became slightly softer, ”With new companions by our side, we could say we’ve rekindled hope. Right now, what we need to do is let more people survive...”

He turned to look at Xu Xin: ”I once ordered to have you killed, and I apologize. You were there at the time, right? What I said then wasn’t false. You, and your World Tree, if you continue to exist, the other survivors, even us... might suffer.”

”...Then why are you helping us now?”

”Because... there’s a ’god’ standing on your side, or... should it be called a ’Demigod’?”

Demigod...

The name was indeed a bit dramatic.

”It’s the one who proposed the survivors’ plan.” Old Yang said, ”Sending those who should have died a thousand years ago into the future, giving them a chance to survive.”

”...It’s just trying to complete its plan.” Xu Xin said.

”No matter what plan it wants to complete, it did save many lives for us, and gave us, who were almost in despair, hope. After knowing it also has half-human blood, we saw hope once again.”

So they decided to help them...

Xu Xin realized that their focus was completely on the creature.

The hope of the other party, and the almost non-existent confidence, were all given by that creature.

He didn’t trust Xu Xin and the others, just felt that with the creature there, there was a slim hope for this plan.

And Xu Xin and the others didn’t seem to be the main point.

Well, Xu Xin could still understand him.

Enslaved by alien invaders for a thousand years, in their hearts, humans could never defeat the alien invaders.

In their thinking, only an alien invader could defeat an alien invader.

With such deeply ingrained ideas, Xu Xin and Old Yang were very unhappy during their first talks, almost reaching no consensus.

But later, when the creature appeared, everything proceeded smoothly like crushing dry weeds and smashing rotten wood.

That’s where the reason lies.

But it didn’t matter.

As long as he could help them, the reason didn’t matter.

The flying device continued to travel in the boundless darkness.

...

On the other side, the World Tree.

After Ji Chaoyang and the others launched their attack, the alien invaders’ army suffered the first wave of nuclear strikes.

The soaring mushroom clouds were truly spectacular.

And the alien invaders’ army immediately reacted.

Outside the mushroom clouds, those aircraft that weren’t affected by the nuclear explosion stopped moving at a snail’s pace, instead, bursting into high speeds, rushing towards the World Tree!
