Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1268 - 653: Successfully Captured_3

Just as Xu Xin was about to speak, the silhouette of a monster appeared before his eyes.

”It’s here again?”

The monster didn’t seem keen on letting Xu Xin approach those treehouses, so each time he appeared, it would teleport directly in front of him, preventing him from getting closer.

Xu Xin explained his purpose to the monster.

The middle-aged man, having lived for a thousand years, couldn’t let his guard down even though he was now unconscious.

It’s not easy to restrict his freedom while he’s awake and extract the desired information from him.

Therefore, the monster’s help is needed.

Using the monster’s ”divine” status and pressuring with the life of the man’s son is the most fitting approach.

The monster agreed immediately.

It also wanted to know what the current situation was over there, and how they felt about its betrayal.

It led Xu Xin to a newly planted treehouse.

Upon entering the treehouse, Xu Xin turned the wristband, releasing the man.

The man was still unconscious, the effects of Qi Xuefei’s drugs were strong, showing no signs of awakening for now.

Xu Xin then released the treasure chest monster, letting it disgorge the man’s son.

Soon, a smell permeated the treehouse, causing both Xu Xin and the monster to frown.

...It was truly unpleasant.

Indeed, hadn’t the man been inside the treasure chest monster for several months by now?

Never taking a bath, his body looked sticky and a bit disgusting...

”So this treasure chest monster was in your possession all along.” The monster shifted its attention to the treasure chest monster, slightly surprised.

”You recognize this treasure chest monster?”

”More than recognize.” The monster’s mouth split open, ”This thing is the result of my genetic experiments. The image of this treasure chest monster was actually borrowed from your imaginations.”

”What do you mean?” Xu Xin asked, confused.

”During my leisure time, I played some video games brought up from the underground world.” The monster explained.

”You know, my body structure is similar to Earth humans, not suited for their chaotic entertainment activities, but very fitting for human ones. So, when I discovered the underground world, I sent people to collect entertainment equipment for me. The image of the treasure chest monster was found there.”

Ah, that explains it...

No wonder such strange, seemingly game-world creatures would appear.

”By the way...”

Xu Xin glanced at the two still unconscious figures on the ground.

Showing no signs of awakening.

Only then did he look back at the monster.

”Do you truly... not understand the underground world’s situation?”

”I don’t understand.”

The monster shook its head.

”As I said, I have little interest in the underground world. The selection process was already underway when I discovered it, I already possess many Earth humans with superior genes. The ordinary humans of the underground world hold no significance for me, and besides... um...”

The monster had mentioned before that it indeed discovered the underground world, placed teleportation devices there, and infiltrated it.

But it didn’t focus on the underground world, primarily because its humans have poor genes, and it feared such densely populated places.

In its view, that place was akin to Hell.

As a half-blood human, it couldn’t bear to reveal the underground world’s situation to those alien invaders, yet doing nothing felt wrong, fearing these humans might serve a purpose in the future.

So it sent some people down, letting them infiltrate and control the underground world.

Other matters, it knew nothing about and didn’t want to know.

It simply didn’t want to know what was happening in Hell.

Xu Xin sighed.

Wei Shishi was bound to return, she’s the Patriarch of the Wei Family, a crucial figure to them.

And the monster is the culprit behind her parents’ and grandfather’s deaths.

When she comes back, how should this matter be handled...

”Hmm...”

The moaning, somewhat painful sounds from the ground drew Xu Xin and the monster’s attention.

The middle-aged man woke up.

He flipped half his body around, reached up to hold his head, face scrunching up.

Then, he slowly opened his eyes.

His first sight was the monster standing before him.

He ignored Xu Xin and his own son lying nearby.

There’s no choice; compared to the monster, humans are far less conspicuous.

”Go... God!”

The middle-aged man’s pupils trembled wildly, exclaiming in surprise.

Even Xu Xin could feel the fervent worship he exuded for a moment.

...Similar to those fanatic believers Xu Ying brought from the underground world, it made his eye twitch slightly.

However...

Both Xu Xin and the monster were slightly puzzled by the middle-aged man’s demeanor.

Judging by this, does this middle-aged man... still regard the monster as his God?

Has he not received the news of the monster’s defection, or is it that... even if he has, he still views the monster as his God?
