Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1279 - 657: Fiery Skyline (Part 3)

Although they were conventional missiles, and this time only small missiles were launched without firing Zeng Tao’s specially made large missiles, the power of the explosions was definitely not something to be underestimated.

At least, Chang Yin himself would never dare to take a direct hit.

But this armor endured countless hits and still appeared unharmed. It was truly remarkable.

”The person inside is really well protected.”

Chang Yin grabbed the bottom of the helmet with force, and with a ”crack,” he lifted it up.

”Hiss—what is this...”

Chang Yin was immediately frightened by the face under the helmet, almost tossing the person away.

A face that seemed charred yellow, with extremely sparse hair, only a few tufts here and there, and a face that resembled a mummy with its bandages removed, utterly withered.

”What’s going on? Is he... is he drained?”

Even as a stone man, Chang Yin felt uncomfortable looking at this person’s face.

”Forget it, let’s bring this thing inside first.”

Chang Yin glanced at the still fiery horizon in the distance, turned, and walked towards the World Tree.

The redness of the horizon was not from the sunset, but from the forest fire that was still burning.

This fire would continue for some time.

...

”This... this is the enforcer of order?”

The explorers fell silent one by one upon seeing the true face beneath the enforcer’s armor.

Even Xu Ying was startled, her eyes widening in shock.

”How... how did this happen? How did he die? Could it be that the armor absorbed his energy while resisting the explosion and drained him to death?” Xu Ying muttered, speculating, ”No, I don’t recall the enforcer’s armor having such a function. Could it be a new feature invented in this timeline?”

”Of course not, this is the person’s original appearance.”

The monster standing nearby spoke.

At this moment, the explorers had all gathered around the monster.

And the monster, having adapted over time, no longer felt uncomfortable in crowded situations.

During this time, it continually released those mutated humans, collaborating and communicating with the half-human half-monster beings it had created, even coexisting daily.

These genetically modified humans were inherently accepting of the appearance of alien invaders; after all, they regarded the alien invaders as deities, so they did not feel any physiological discomfort towards the new race of beings created by the monster.

And after interacting with these genetically modified humans, its new race of beings did not develop any aversion to humans either.

These genetically modified humans were currently the most suitable to coexist with its new race.

And during this time, the monster had adapted to human appearances as well.

Even if all the explorers came together, it welcomed them gladly.

”What?” Xu Ying was startled again, ”Why? He...”

”Unlike our timeline, in this timeline, the enforcers of order have altered their appearances to please the alien invaders. In our timeline, it’s only been three hundred years since the war, but here, it’s been a millennium. Reportedly, they began altering their appearances en masse five hundred years ago,” explained the monster.

”Such a thing...” Xu Ying’s small mouth hung slightly open.

The monster spread its two bizarre arms wide: ”In my view, he’s much more pleasing to the eye than you all.”

”Alright then...”

”Let me have a look.” Qi Xuefei crouched down by the corpse, reaching out to touch the person’s neck, which was like a rusty sheet of iron covered in fine protrusions.

Then, she spoke words that made everyone’s eyes light up.

”He’s still alive.”

They had unexpectedly captured a living enforcer of order!
