Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1277 - 657: The Fiery Skyline

”Boom boom boom boom boom!!!”

The once calm surroundings of the World Tree were engulfed in towering flames!

In an instant, the forest fire erupted!

Due to multiple bombings, sparks flew everywhere, and within just half a minute, the area around Crystal City was already surrounded by a terrifying forest fire reaching over ten meters high!

This was actually part of the explorers’ plan.

Although they had experienced forest fires before and knew its immense power, the fire now couldn’t affect the inside of Crystal City.

Moreover, with the World Tree around, even if the jungle was completely burned to the ground, it would only take a day or two to restore its lushness.

Furthermore, Crystal City had long been assaulted by mutated creatures, and with so many giant beasts gathered within, there were no ordinary animals left near Crystal City to be accidentally harmed by the fire.

”So, let this forest fire burn even more fiercely!”

Wang Lei stood on the control platform, observing the surroundings, and exclaimed excitedly, ”Damn it, those guys outside have been spying on us for so long; if we don’t hit them, they’ll really think we’re pushovers!”

The surroundings of the World Tree were ablaze, with billowing smoke and heat distorting the scenery, creating an overwhelming sense of agitation and warmth just at a glance.

”Actually, they haven’t been spying for long,” Wen Guixin rubbed her eyes and said, ”They’ve only been here for half a day, but it just feels long to us.”

For Xu Xin and the others, it had already been two months.

During these two months, they always knew there were people outside, but they never took action, holding back all this time until they couldn’t bear it any longer.

This sudden sweeping bombardment was utterly satisfying.

”Brother Ma, let me take control for a bit and enjoy! It’s just like playing a game!” Wang Lei leaned over to Ma Hongwei, who was leisurely controlling the weapon launch, ”Aren’t you tired of this? Let me share the load!”

”Not really tired, but you can try; it’s quite simple,” Ma Hongwei laughed.

Controlling missiles and laser weapons to fire out from within the World Tree was incredibly easy.

They perceived the outside world at only one percent of its original speed. The fleeing mutated creatures and order enforcers looked like slowly crawling turtles in their eyes.

Yet, the missiles they launched traveled at fifty times the speed of sound. Even at one percent perceived speed, the missiles still charged toward their targets at 170 meters per second.

Not to mention the laser weapons. Even at one percent the speed of light, the difference was imperceptible to the human eye.

So Ma Hongwei seemed to be blasting a bunch of snails and turtles with missiles and lasers!

Ridiculously simple!

Every shot ensured a hit on the target, appearing utterly delightful.

”Let me try too!” Zeng Tao also joined in.

”Boom boom boom boom boom!!”

With three people firing, the explosions became even more intense.

Because of the external time being a hundred times slower, what was originally just a few seconds of explosion flames extended to several minutes, causing the flames and smoke from the explosions to envelop the entire area in Xu Xin and the others’ view.

But from the outside, in just that second, countless missiles simultaneously exploded!

...

Half an hour later inside the World Tree.

”What a pity,” Ji Chaoyang sighed, shaking his head, ”Most of the order enforcers managed to escape.”

With missiles at fifty times the speed of sound and an impressive explosion range, they shouldn’t be able to dodge them.

But the armor on those order enforcers was rather peculiar.

While the explosive power could send the order enforcers flying, their armor seemed barely damaged.

Those guys staggered toward the distance, repeatedly being blown away by the hypersonic missiles, only to get up and run again.

Then they collectively disappeared into the dense jungle, untouched by the fire, escaping missile lock-ons.

Most of the order enforcers got away.

”Tch, if we used a nuke, I don’t believe their armor could withstand it,” Wen Guixin clicked her tongue, expressing discontent with the outcome, ”The laser weapon seemed to affect their armor, but unfortunately, it was too short-ranged.”

As Wen Guixin mentioned, the laser weapons indeed had an effect on the armor, even heating it red-hot in some areas.

Even if it couldn’t damage the armor, it would cause immense pain to those inside.

But unfortunately, the effective range of the laser weapons was too short.

Beyond a kilometer, the laser would slightly disperse, significantly reducing the laser weapon’s power.

Once the order enforcers escaped further away, the laser weapons couldn’t cause substantial harm to them.

These laser weapons could only be used for close-range self-defense and as an anti-missile system.

”Placing nukes a few kilometers from our World Tree, are you courting death?” Wang Lei retorted angrily.

”With the World Tree, it might not affect us,” Wen Guixin argued.

”Would you dare go outside then?”

”...Hmph.”

”Be optimistic, we did manage to take out a small portion,” Li Wenxi was relatively satisfied with the results, ”A few of them got blown up.”
